I hear the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have written to complainants confirming they are investigating adverts run by Rangers International Football Club plc, in which they claim to be Scotland’s most successful football club. You and I know that’s not the case, Celtic are Scotland’s most successful football club, followed at a distance by Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts, Hibs, Queens Park, Motherwell, Kilmarnock……. and ultimately East Fife.
The confusion has perhaps arisen following the demise of The Rangers Football Club plc, who laid claim to 54 Scottish titles before their failure to pay creditors ultimately led to liquidation. Rangers International Football Club plc have traded for less than a year and would be pushed to justify their claim in the face of Celtic’s magnificent domestic and European history. They cannot, of course, claim to be a now liquidated company.
The Advertising Standards Authority will write to both the advertiser and advert broadcaster asking them to submit evidence in support of their claim. The ASA will then send a recommendation to the ASA Council for adjudication.
In the event the advertiser accepts the complaint and agrees to change future advertising claims the ASA will write to complainers to confirm the matter has been resolved.
Celtic’s claim is simple, we are the champions of Scotland, winners of more leagues and cups than anyone else still kicking a ball in Britain, Northern Europe’s first European Champions and we observe all football, tax and civil laws.

Thing about Dunfermline, I also get the Jock link, the nice banner etc But. Chris Sutton was right. Anyone watching their capitulation to oldco could smell corruption..
Moreover , every day their administration will highlight the ridiculous behaviour of oldco, D&P, and the SFA…
Not that they ll bother..

I was talking to a Celtic supporting pal in holland earlier and we were talking about the hun creditor list and specifically the football debts, and more specifically the money owed to Celtic.
Were Celtic ever paid the £40K they were owed?
Thanks

Slight problem with that ‘plan’.If the SFL aren’t ‘on board’ then any club wishing to leave their league set up, has to hand in 2 years notice before they can leave.
I understand some people’s fears but it won’t happen imo as it would be the death knell for Scottish football.
Crowds across the country would plummet as many fans including myself would walk away from the game.

WRT the 12-12 proposal:
How many SPL teams would have to back this proposal. If it needs an 11-1 majority I’d bet Celtic and Aberdeen at least vote against. They know what the backlash would be like.
Kilmarnock,of course,will abstain.
A lot of people on here seem to think or be holding out hope that Rangers will just die (again). While I would enjoy seeing this I think it is a bit naive. I reckon a team with Rangers in the name, wearing blue and prob playing at Ibrox will be back in the SPL in 2-3 years.
However by the time they get back to the SPL they will surely be in debt again (currently losing 1m a month) and their squad will be pretty poor. It will take them at least 4 or 5 years to put a team on the park to genuinely rival Celtic. I think that is the absolute best case scenario. It will prob take them longer.
I guess watching them die once and be shite for a decade isn’t all that bad:-)
Article in the Scotshun today about Platini’s opposition to the pan Russian/Ukrainian etc league which they have somehow managed to headline as something like Plantini deals blow to Old Firm Premiership hopes.
MSM campaing in full swing by the looks of things.
I’m going to the Gable Endies versus der hun match tomorrow in Montrose. I welcome any tips CQNr’s may provide that will help me in this traumatic experience.
I think Montrose will be just too strong for the diet challenged guzzler of pies and his current crop of sevcoidial failures.

It is good fun watching the comings and goings, mainly goings, over at Ibrox.
We have had at least a year of fun watching teir apparent destruction.
However, much as it has been fun, I can’t help think that their situation is going according to plan.
Their plan, not ours. Not justice. Not fair play.
Every hurdle has been cleared in comfort and if we are depending on the ASA to derail them, then thunk on.
Whyte stated that there would be a team in blue, debt free, playing at Ibrox.
He was correct.
If we have any reason to communicate with Celtic, it should be with a view to stating the supports position re their resurrection and any possible action should we be seen or proved to facilitate such action.
Any pending revolt, based on bringing the Board down shouldbe put on the back burner until we deal with the enemy outside the gate.
Funny moment:
My son has been given an orthodpaedic boot to protect his injured leg – because his injuries were ‘internally fixated’ he doesn’t have a plaster cast, meaning that the risk of falling/bumping etc when hobbling around is fairly obvious.
Anyway, when moving around he puts the boot on, leading to the following dialogue a little earlier:
“Where’s the protective boot?”
“I think she’s making the breakfast”
Cue a slap from the Shabby Chapeau…

‘crushed nuts?’ ‘Naw, Layringitis!’
As anyone who has suffered grief at a loss and came through the far end can tell you, there comes a time when the pain of holding on becomes greater than the pain of letting go.
Scottish football, perhaps Scottish society, has not quite got to that point yet with regard to the deceased Rangers but sooner or later it arrives.
When it does the loss is accepted with sadness rather than anger by those left behind who then become free to make a new life for themselves.
The universe is all unfolding as it should and 10 years is not even the blink of an eye to it.

No, they’ll always be illegitimate to me.
My buddy offered me a ticket so I thought I’d take the opportunity to go along and laugh at them.
Afternoon all. Lovely day down here. Strange sight on the putting green: the flag poles are out for the first time this year. They surround what remains of the 4 snowmen we had all week.
Thomthetim,
Whyte was right……there is a team in blue, debt free playing at Ibrox!! But they are in the 3rd division and have a poor playing squad.
By the time they’re back in the SPL they will be in debt again!!
I value Celtics squad at about 75m and it has increased every year since Neil tookover. It can’t stay increasing indefinitely( based on our wage structure and tv money etc) but it is possible to hold it in the 70-90m range. It will take Rangers a long time (or a Henrik Larsson) to catch up!!!

Absolutely. I did, and he is. Thanks.

A support of around 40,000 can only generate so much income and The Rangers are living beyond that supports capacity to support.
That is not to say that a sustainable business model is not achievable but to keep at that level better quality players are required.
There are two ways to get them, buy them at unaffordable prices or develop them.
They currently do not have the infrastructure to develop and cannot buy the level of quality to become the Rangers that died of a financial overdose.
There might still be a Rangers but not as we know them.
The biggest risk to this not happenning is if Celtic stop doing what is currently working and the support stop supporting what is working.
