AJER’S £15m STALEMATE

NORWICH CITY are refusing to meet Celtic’s asking price of £15million for Kristoffer Ajer.

The newly-promoted Premier League club have been linked with the 23-year-old Norwegian international defender and are already reported to have tabled a £10million offer.

There have been claims they may go as high as £12million, but it appears they have no intention of adding a further £3million in an up-front fee, according to the Daily Record.

Ajer, who was signed by fellow-countryman Ronny Delia from FK Start in 2015 in a £750,000 switch, has already stated he wants to leave Parkhead in this transfer window.

Celtic have named their price for their player and the ball is now in the Carrow Road side’s court, but if they persist with their current line of thinking they will have to look elsewhere as they attempt to bolster their squad for the rigours of the English top flight.

Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen, who raided the fallen champions in a £11.8million swoop for Jeremie Frimpong in January, are watching the situation and could meet the Hoops’ price.
