ANGE AND BRIGHTON: ‘WHY WOULD HE?’ ASKS SUTTON

CHRIS SUTTON
delivered a swift response to speculation linking Ange Postecoglou with Brighton: “Why would he?”

Football’s rumour machine is in full swing again in the arena where two and two can often make 22.

According to reports across the border, Graham Potter is on the verge of leaving the south coast club to take over from the sacked Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

It was a reasonable assumption the name of the impressive Celtic boss would be thrown into the mix and those “in the know” didn’t let us down by flagging up the 57-year-old Greek-Australian who has worked wonders at Parkhead since kick-starting his revolution only days after his June 10 appointment last year.

MAN WITH A PLAN…Ange Postecoglou has a vision for Celtic.

However, it’s clear Postecoglou is a man on a mission in the east end of Glasgow and he has stated often enough that Celtic are “a special club” and has vowed to repay the fans for their overwhelming support from day one, as CQN reported yesterday.

The Celtic supporters obviously believe the gaffer to be a man of his word.

Former Hoops goalscoring hero Sutton is convinced the manager would have no interest in being sidetracked with links to other teams.

The one-time England international wrote on Twitter: “Ange Postecoglou will be linked with managerial jobs in the Premier League and I’m sure will eventually go down south but he’s only just got started at Celtic and he’s building something special.

“He certainly wouldn’t downgrade to a club Brighton’s size just yet… why would he?”

Our thoughts exactly.
