Ashley could fulfil Tarantino vision

948

Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan?  This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.

Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.

If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.

The crux of King’s comments are reported as:

“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.

“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.

“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”

There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”.  We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.

Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray.  He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.

He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms.  Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

Today is World Cancer Day.  This disease has taken too many from the blog already, not to mention millions across the globe.  There is a lot of good news, though.  Progress is being made, but many in the developing world need access to simple preventative treatments, methodologies and information.

The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.  Here’s a video outlining where the battle is at the moment:

    Good posts from you both.

You’ll have folk on here (Celtic supporters, not trolls) vilifying their fellow supporters before they’ll raise a finger to type about the misdemeanors inflicted upon our own.

    Quite incredible.

Timreaper, sorry I never replied to your post last night about sky and its lack of investmrnt in our game. I was in my kip.

Your post from earlier re Ronnie using Neil’s players. I agree, it shows Ronnie may be showing a bit of flexibility and realising his style may take more than this season to implement.

When McGregor appeared with a well skelped coupon, we got the blame but it was his fiancee who hit him.

When Edu’s car was damaged, we got the blame however it was the irate partner of a girl Edu was seeing.

The magic bus the sevs were going to use was torched, Sleekit implied we were responsible.

Maybe I’m getting paranoid about my paranoia but anything wrong happens to them, we get the blame without any justification or evidence. Even that buffoon, Fraser Wishart, was accusing Celtic fans at the McGregor or Edu incidents.

    Tin Hat on….

Looking at Bolton’s results since NFL took charge, including tonight, you have got to admire what NFL can do with a team …. his teams work hard and defend like their lives depend on it … from the work rate, his players obviously respect and work hard for him.

But…. I think that RD is a more progressive manager, and if he is able to get the players to buy into his style, even half as well as NFL was able to get his players to buy into his style, the style of play that RD is trying to get us to play will allow us to compete at a higher level in Europe.

Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to take two forward. In our case, there was a fair bit of unlearning to do before the players really can play the way RD wants the team to play. But I see some indications this season that we are getting there … maybe not as quickly as I would like, but we are moving in the right direction.

I think that, given a bit of time and some support by the Board, RD is really going to shake things up at Celtic.

Shurely Paul67 set up blog to afford Celtic fans a voice. Where none previously existed.

The MSM denied us an outlet and fed us cr@p for decades. Paul67 changed that.

This blog and others provide an objective outlet for Celtic supporters everywhere. The word on the street can now be harnessed and debated, given focus.

The regular references to Deidco and associated issues and debunking of misinformation by the MSM, is the raison d’ etre of CQN.

Of course matters Celtic are discussed in detail but not exclusively. Paul67 provides a full match report within hours, sometimes minutes, depending on venue. Often other Celtic sites have more detailed and in-depth chat about things Celtic and I regularly migrate to those sites when too many folk here start deflecting the chat away from football. Particularly just before, during or just after games.

There are regular posters in here who never actually discuss things Celtic unless it is to weigh in heavily on topics with a religious or political dimension. Think about the ones who never mention a favourite player or game or seldom comment on a match or tactics. They are given space and that for me is one of the downsides of the blog. However, they are easy to spot and can be ignored. Or mildly ridiculed,as they do tend to leave the baw bouncing on the line …

Nevertheless all posters make this place special and I completely admire Paul67 for allowing such latitude. He reminded us all earlier how few restrictions are in place…

    That is a good thing

Bgx, sorry but I can’t agree that football chants are either offensive or they aren’t. There are degrees of offence and they are often related to the mindset of the groups using them. What type of person would regularly chant sectarian ditties involving famine, the murder of Catholics and sending them “home”, and then find themselves offended when compared with a creature capable of holding a tea party, something that is far beyond that groups actual abilities.

  19. I think calling them monkeys is very kind and perhaps insulting to monkeys. I think like Tallybhoy a combination of Zombie and Hun is appropriate “Zombhuns” The “h” in the middle is silent, like the Zombhuns, when Leigh scored on Sunday!

BIG NAN? Saw your post re Burnt island. I went to Burnt island Palais(?) about 1957/8 when I was at RAF Leuchars for a few months. I am sure I was there for Ted Heath and his orchestra with singers Dickie Valentine,Denis Lotus and Lit a Rosa. Had difficulty with the accents of the ladies:-) :-) , but did not allow that to interfere with the objective of going there!! Would that be right?

    …………………………………………………..

Yes that would be right but I was too young to dance at that time 12/13.

There were lots of dancehalls who hosted big bands. My neighbours were all trumpet players and played local halls with various bands but the big names visited too. Basil Kirchen etc.

The other local hot-spots to me were the Snake Pit (Rosyth COOP Hall), St Margaret’s Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath Palais, Aberdour Palais, Unitas Hall, Dunfermline and of course the Kinema Ballroom Dunfermline.

Glad to hear you overcame the language difficulties in Burntisland which could be a rough old spot at times.

  21. Pfayr @2054

Imo, Rd so far, has done far better than Lenny has in every single season in Europe other than that very, VERY memorable one.

  22. Inter are really poor. I also think the Europa League will not be a great interest to them. To us it matters, because we need to see progress and boost confidence after the fiasco that was our qualifying campaign this season. We need as much momentum as possible going into next seasons qualifiers especially if we lose players which is likely. I think that is one of the reasons we bought SA now. As a minimum i expect the Inter tie to be really close, and us to win the treble.

No excuses, i hope the players can rise to the challenge.

  23. mike in toronto on

PF Ayr …. I cant argue with results …. but I think NFL had reached his apex as a coach with the Barca game …. I think RD, and hence his teams, have a much greater potential than NFL, and his teams, did …. it is up to RD to prove it me right.

I’m getting excited and quietly optimistic about the football we are starting to play … for the first time in a few years.
