Ashley could fulfil Tarantino vision

948

Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan?  This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.

Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.

If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.

The crux of King’s comments are reported as:

“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.

“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.

“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”

There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”.  We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.

Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray.  He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.

He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms.  Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

Today is World Cancer Day.  This disease has taken too many from the blog already, not to mention millions across the globe.  There is a lot of good news, though.  Progress is being made, but many in the developing world need access to simple preventative treatments, methodologies and information.

The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.  Here’s a video outlining where the battle is at the moment:

Get this monkey off my back

Addiction at worst (Early 19th C) an annoying problem at best.

Meaning that whatever you tried to do the monkey (That being the animal, not a derogatory racist term or insinuation) would manage to hold on…

And that is what I took from the monkey jibes on Sunday.

The monkey is off our back – them, the ‘firm’ adage, the press’ power to manipulate the lead up and the aftermath. Gone. Dead. Or died if you will…

No a racist intention, just logic and visual metaphors.

    They should remember that…

Too true about the Hampden pitch. Actually the CP pitch is as poor as I’ve seen it at this time of year for many a day. Nothing like the shocker on Sunday but it seems the CW games has left a legacy after all!

  6. For the record.

My earlier posts were not out of offence personally.

I’m just pointing out possible interpretation outside of Scotland.

Again personally, I wouldn’t insult any of the primate species with some of the hun knuckle draggers I’ve encountered.

    That would offend monkeys everywhere.

    Long Post warning!

There is something not right about this whole assault incident.

You have highlighted one issue which is the identification of the alleged assailant. Most such attacks on buses are from a distance and consist of throwing stuff at the bus windows, because that way assailants are almost impossible to identify. This alleged attack needed at least two people to be heavily AND be identifiably involved if we are to believe the account we have been given. One to open the door and another to throw the bottle in, and frankly, throwing a bottle into a bus after first opening the door seems far fetched to me.

The father’s account on the BBC video is inconsistent in some areas and evasive on others. He tells us that the Celtic fans crossed from the right across Cathcart Rd as they were stopped in traffic, then he claims the Celtic fans had a go at the driver who (and he mumbles here) said “Come on then”, implying that the driver had probably opened the door himself, but at the very least was happy to fight with some Celtic fans. Then the father claims that he did not see the Celtic fans on the right (during the alleged altercation with the driver) who apparently threw the bottle, yet those same fans were on the right going to the left and were engaged (according to him) in a barney with the driver, also on the right side of the vehicle.

The father claims at first that it was just a couple of Celtic fans, then that it was a few who were involved. He carefully avoids any suggestion that anyone in the bus, particularly the driver did or said anything to anyone else to provoke or escalate the situation, but very nearly heavily implicates the driver before backing off.

There appears to be no independent corroboration nor CCTV footage on what exactly happened, which is strange since the place would have been very busy with fans from both clubs.

Then we have the lad himself, who clearly has an injury.

The attack came from the right, the father tells us, but the injury is to the left side of the boys face, which might be possible if it was a bench down each side kind of minibus, but otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

Secondly the boys face looks remarkably unaffected for someone who has had a bottle hit his face so hard that he sustained all these other injuries we keep hearing about. The photos were taken the next day, and there should be serious swelling and heavy discolouration all around his lower left jaw area, and there just isn’t.

When asked what happened next, the father makes no mention of where the assailants went, or what happened to them. They vaporized apparently, but the father was feeling dizzy and got out the minibus and sat on the grass. No mention of the minibus driver who seems to have disappeared too. No mention of any other fans who must have been there.

I would imagine that there was a confrontation of some sort, that the driver’s door was opened by someone, probably the driver himself. I expect that shouting and squaring off led to a wrestle and a punch or two being thrown, and that in that melee those in the back of the bus would have been trying assist their pal. Several large bodies all lunging for the one space, ie the drivers door area, would have violently pushed aside anyone in their way, including a wee boy whose mouth area would have been level with the back of the seat in front.

The father’s excuse for having his sons on the bus sounds pretty lame to me -we were driving there but thought we’d try for a place on the supporters bus because “Fans would know where to park.” Really?

Lastly, the speed with which the RST leapt into exploiting this alleged incident to vindicate their own tawdry warnings from last week about the violent propensities of Celtic fans, seems altogether far too convenient and timely. This is an allegation that has no independent witnesses and is less than convincing on several levels, but throwing it out there succeeds in putting us on the defensive. I suspect that any CCTV information will only muddy the water and show some inaccuracies in the account we have been fed to date.

MSM will ignore critical thinking about this, and the polis will just file it.

All just my speculation based on what info I have at hand.

  8. Interesting to think that of our starting eleven on Sunday, nine were from the Lennon era. Only Gordon & Denayer are new. Two subs were from Lennon’s time as well.

Point being that as the season has developed Ronny has gone back to the tried and trusted, hence we have got better (Commons, Griffiths for example). As much as i like Ronny we need to see evidence that he can buy players that are good enough for the starting eleven and to replace the guys that move on (VVD, Denayer etc). GMS & SA is a good start.

I am also pleased that he has not been too bloody minded to go back to the tried and trusted, either by seeing it himself or by listening to others. This is the sign of a really good young manager. I said before Christmas that if he stuck with McGregor it might end up costing him his job. It appears that he has seen the light and i am glad for it.

  9. Just watching the game from Sunday, this time sober….;)

My 5-0 should been up by halftime….damn and blast as Philvis would say.

Back to work today, hardly a peep from the huns….is it ok to call them that?

    Feckin Zombies then. :-))

  10. I agree with the calling them what they are, hun scum, hun monkey scum etc, etc.

    Offended FFS, dearie me.

Is there any proof, apart from what the msm has told the world, that the person who fecked the bottle into the bus was in fact a Celtic supporter ?

Or is it along the lines of he must be ???

Could be someone who just hates the hun monkeys.

A bit like the bloke who got battered, his Mrs said it was them nasty Tims so the msm ran with that.

    Well said BT & Philvis.

A decent piece and as I see it in general

Some supporters , when RDs team was stuttering, would have had us believe that Lenny left out team in a mess

Your piece shows up that comment fur the nonsense it was

    Unfortunately

It also shows how ineffective the summer transfer window was

January was much better ….more to come …hopefully

  13. Please, please any of you who have influence on the Celtic support – do not let us be next:

“CLOSED DOORS FOR LEGIA WARSAW. CELTIC’S old foes Legia Warsaw must play two matches behind closed doors after having an appeal turned down by UEFA. Legia, whose fans also set off fireworks and launched objects, subsequently lodged an appeal, but UEFA has upheld its original ruling.”

I’m happy for us to merely disagree on the ‘monkey’ terminology.

However, as far as I’m concerned it’s just about highlighting their primitive behaviour over decades.

We’ve got guys on here, not you, worried about how the banner and our use of the term might be perceived abroad.

    Whit?! Who cares.

We’ve sought to achieve the promised land of the ‘moral high ground’ for as long as I can remember.

    It’s overrated in my opinion.

  16. In this PC driven cardboard world we live in, where we have to endure those who wax lyrical in their nauseating AQI speak -i.e. whereby every sentence sounds like a question, everything but everything that they ‘don’t agree with, offends them.

Total and utter bollocks – yes of course we all have differing views which can cause argument, disagreement and fallings-out – but why oh why must these creeps always say they it OFFENDS them?

Had difficulty with the accents of the ladies:-) :-) , but did not allow that to interfere with the objective of going there!! Would that be right?

Sure wee Keiran never heard any Sweary words or racist / sectarian stuff on there and never witnessed any violence at all involving the billy boys

Also … Very convenient that some knob jockey who gets beaten up outside a pub happens to be a zombie without colours and his zombette ( who musta been in a right good mood ) reckons the guys that did it must have been those dirty nasty taigs even though they too were not wearing colours

As for Hun monkeys .. Always thought the Hun reference was linked to the image of them being like Attila or Adolfs crew

And as man evolved from monkeys I can’t see an issue there to complain about
