Balde, Hooper, summer challenges

1119

13 June and Celtic have signed a striker!  Do we have some important games coming up early in the season?  6’4” Amido Balde joined Sporting Lisbon three years ago but never made an appearance for the club.

After three loan deals he joined Vitoria Guimaraes a year ago, where he caught the eye of Celtic scouts.  At 22-years-old, he is right in the sweet spot of Celtic’s recruitment strategy: fully developed physically, old enough to be considered prime first team material but with many years of prime football ahead.

Playing for Celtic is quite different than playing for Vitoria Guimaraes, so it may take Amido a period of adjustment to settle into life as a Glasgow sporting celebrity, but he is clearly the man Neil Lennon and the scouts wanted.  Based on that, I’m happy.

Despite what could be described as cover, and the fact that the player has declined a new contract, I’m still not happy to sell Gary Hooper.  We have lots to do this summer before that moves up the agenda.

Welcome to Celtic, Amido.

The raffle for a signed Celtic top in aid of 1254125 ends early tomorrow morning. THIS IS THE LAST CALL FOR TICKETS, which cost only £1 each. Get in there…..

  1. For all that are going to the Roses tomorrow, enjoy. I was a skint, stupid 17 year old and had just bought a flat(I know I did say daft), went up the town and bought the Roses album and Bummed by the Happy Mondays. Can anyone tell me if they came out the same day? Don’t think I left the house for the next two or three weeks and had no end of visitors, happy daze.

  3. A wee treat for CQNers for the weekend.

As most of you will know one of the most respected posters on here – Setting Free the Bears – is currently taking a 125 day long break from posting. The blog is all the poorer for his absence.

Anyway we encouraged SFTB to write for CQN Magazine and he set about the task of writing not one but two articles for the current issue. However the first article submitted arrived just too late for the current edition, which we hope you have all enjoyed!

So rather than let the article sit around all summer – and by the time the next issue comes out SFTB will be back – we thought we’d publish it as a stand alone feature.

And it’s all about you – the CQN internet bampots.

So as written by Setting Free the Bears here is AN A TO Z OF CQN INTERNET BAMPOTERY.

  9. Tonight I followed my uncles cortege up to church. He will be laid to rest tomorrow.

Frank Daley was my mums young brother and he and his younger brother John helped make me the Celtic fan and the man that I am. Not forgetting my uncle Neil Grant.

They men took me and lifted me over to the games

We would sit in the car me and my cousins waiting on them having their beers before rushing to the games.

Francis Kelly Daley will be laid to rest tomorrow and I will not be ashamed to shed a tear and cry like a baby..

God rest your soul uncle Frank. .

I mentioned to FFM that the Queen is probably a very scared old woman, no person should have the burden of what she has on her shoulders, IMHO.

Her husband, he is a right evil bampot though, IMO. He declared that he would like to be re-incarnated as a virus to wipe out a lot of humanity.

MICHAEL Carroll, the man who spent the entirety of his £10 million lottery jackpot in ten years, has taken a job at the Walkers shortbread factory in Elgin.

Carroll, who won a £9,736,131 National Lottery jackpot in 2002, has taken up the job at the biscuit factory this week according to the Daily Record. Carroll was left with just 70p to his name at the end of his spending spree last year.

Carroll, 30, bought a plush mansion in Norfolk with his winnings and reportedly held regular stock car races on the grounds. He also INVESTED(Hmmmm?) £1 million in RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB , and gave away almost a third of his jackpot to his friends and family. He estimates that he spent £12,000 a week on illegal drugs at the height of his excesses, and took over 100 trips to Spain in the decade….
