BBC turn tanks on our hero Craig

768

BBC investigative journalist, Mark Daly, has shown remarkable fortitude in pursuing Craig Whyte, but it’s clear to any unbiased observer that our hero is totally innocent of the serious allegation levelled at him.  Yesterday, Reporting Scotland suggested Whyte may have committed perjury in the witness box at Glasgow Sheriff Court in December last year in a case involving the supply of roofing materials.

Craig handled the second question on his disqualification as a company director, “You can’t remember why you were banned for seven years?” pitch perfectly.

He said, “Well, I’m not going to say in open court and get it wrong.”

This was a good answer, a very good answer.  Saying something wrong in open court is not what our man wants to do.

It was the third question that those pesky BBC types have tried to make trouble over: “Was it anything to do with the treatment of creditors?”

To which Craig replied, “No.”

One insignificant, two-letter, word that people are trying to build into something more than it is.  If only he’d kept to the simple, “I’m not going to say in open court and get it wrong” reply, none of this perjury nonsense would be raised.

Now we have the messy business of a sheriff, currently deliberating the roofing materials case based on the evidence presented, being interrupted by all this rubbish.  Have you any idea how complicated it becomes for a sheriff to discharge his duties when perjury is publicly being alleged (incorrectly, I may add) before he has even reached his verdict?  He’s left in a very difficult position and will not be pleased.

Last night Craig’s spokesman gave you the truth, saying the BBCs latest hatchet job was “a variation on what the BBC already alleged in a documentary riddled with inaccuracies and falsehoods”.

The BBC also published extracts of a written judgement of a trial at the Royal Courts of Justice Companies Court from 2000 which saw Craig’s seven year ban imposed after he put a company into liquidation.

Inaccuracies and falsehoods – and the guy, fair-minded that he is, didn’t even grab the opportunity to have another day in court, this time against the broadcaster.  I’d love to see you take them on, Craig.  Keep up the good work.

Finally, Celtic fan, Billy Connolly, has been in the news recently so I thought we would give a spin to one of his early works. Apologies for the mild use of colourful language. Firm apologies to Strathclyde Police, who are the subject of some fun here but who I hold in the highest esteem (I’m serious at this part), and just for the record, the following song is a gentle poke at the authorities honesty in court and in no way related to persons mentioned anywhere on Celtic Quick News.

The disgrace that is Diouf now says that the SPL is like a Sunday League.

He says this from the comfort of his new role with Doncaster Rovers.

No surprise that he is saying this as he was a man with no class or dignity when he played elsewhere. He still has no dignity or class.

What they don’t get is that the orcs record fees at times during their fake 9 hovered between 25-50% of the world record transfer fee, whereas during our real 9, our record transfer hovered between 2.5% (that’s two and a half percent) and 10% of the world transfer record.

Whilst they were failing on an epic scale, they did so whilst able to compete with almost any club in the world for players.

During our era, we couldn’t compete with Dundee for players (£40,000 paid to Aberdeen for Charlie Cooke in 1964).

    Different times indeed.

You ask why our attendances are remaining fairly static in the face of RFC’s travails and our good form over the last couple of months. A very good question. However, if I can answer for myself I would say that 20 years ago if there was a similar situation as we are experiencing just now most Celtic fans would indeed be motivated to go along to CP and the gates would have risen. In those days you only had to turn up and pay at the turnstile. No problem. Nowadays, if you don’t have a season ticket you have to buy a ticket from the ticket office. This involves a visit to the said office and possibly waiting in a lengthy queue on matchday or visiting earlier in the week to get a ticket and becoming involved in the expense and inconvenience of an extra journey. I don’t know about phone orders or online booking but it is all inconvenient as opposed to paying at the gate and I’m sure that a lot of supporters who would like to go are put off by this.

Oh and as you rightly say the economic crisis is bound to have an effect on gates.

Diouf was so bad that he managed to keepIian Black off the back pages. His elbowing of the Celtic Physio, his verbal attack on NL, hi previous exmplary behaviour when playing for Liverpool against us. All in all he was a perfect fit for a team featuringh McCulloch and Lafferty.

His is a specially low category of odiousness.

Scott Brown – SPL player of the month and central to success for Lennon at Tynecastle. When we’ve won (twice) he’s started; when we’ve lost (twice) his name is missing from the teamsheet.

You’ve got Mulgrew at LB – no, no, no, no, no!

Sammi and Hooper key players and must start. Brown after them. Dan always plays well against Hearts, but if Rogne is picked instead – fine. Neil has the luxury of choosing from several good/on form defenders at the moment.

Great that Scott received the player of the month award….VERY well deserved…another ‘product’ of NEIL’s management / people /inspirational skills ….. looking forward to the game tomorrow night ….when all the pre-match nonsense ends, I am confident we will once again rise to the occasion….this is team is growing together ……we won’t every game this season, but any team that draws or beats us is going to have to be ‘going some’……not sure about Hearts…they seem to fail to turn up sometimes…..they’ve got not a bad manager…pity about some of their fans….anyway looking forward to it…

Having been a victim of the said economic mess and losing my job (thankfully now back working) I completely agree with what you say about the added inconveinance in obtaining tickets from the ticket office. Living in Clydebank it can be a complete headache at times. I’ve tried the phone line too which isnt much better. Having said that though I popped into the local Celtic shop in Clydebank shopping centre back at the start of november for the Motherwell match on the off chance they might have a few spare tickets. Ever since I’ve got my tickets at the Celtic shop in Clydebank, which is a lot handier. I wonder how many fans are thinking to do the same at their nearest Celtic shop?

All that will come to an end though as I can now buy my old season ticket again, hopefully theres a few more out there in the same position ;)

I didn’t know about getting tickets from a Celtic Shop, thanks for that and I’m glad you’re working again and are planning to renew your ST. I gave mine up at the start of last season. This season I’ve attended most home games (domestic and European) because one of my relatives has been ill and has given me his ticket. I’m also planning to buy a ST again next season.

  18. up_over_goal, I have Mulgrew at LB as Ledley will be needed in midfield (I accept Mulgrew is not an accomplished LB but his height is important).

Midfield is where the battle will be and where the game will be won and lost. For that reason, I wouldn’t start with Ki.

But what do I know? In Lenny I trust.

Anyway it’s been obvious that for the past few seasons that they were probably operating in administration by their bank in all but name, so why did the Rangers supporters trust not try to organise a whip round of their loyal supporters

Charlie played left back against ICT(as he has done for most of his career),and he strolled through that game.

    Joe Ledley is a midfielder,not a defender.

Thomas Rogne and Kelvin Wilson also impressed against the Buthchers.Best central defensive partnership that i have seen so far this season.

Sorry about leaving Stokesy out of the starting line-up,but he will his place back for our next home game.

  27. Mr X

Appreciate the need to get Ledley in midfield – think Lenny will agree with you. Ledley has been at fault for a few goals when he’s played at LB – I just think he’s better in an attacking sense.

I take your point about Ki, and wouldn’t be happy to see him in the centre. I liked him out wide in the Aberdeen game (Ledley played LB that game) and think he may be suited to that role in certain games. Fwiw, Ki played in the centre with Brown when we won last year at Tynecastle and had a really good game.
