BRENDAN RODGERS has been linked with his ex-Liverpool striker Fabio Borini – a move CQN first wrote about on August 10 last year!
The Celtic boss is aware of the potential cut-price availability of the Italian with Davie Moyes’ Sunderland side on the brink of relegation from the top flight.
The Black Cats paid £8million for the frontman in August 2015, but they will accept half that fee if they lose their Premier League status.
Rodgers has worked with the 26-year-old at Chelsea, Swansea and the Anfield outfit.
Borini has struggled for goals this season, but says that is due to under-pressure gaffer Moyes asking him to fill several different positions.
He said: “When we had injuries, I have been told to play on the left, the right, in the middle, behind the striker and even left-back when it was needed.”
Rodgers is likely to be looking for a replacement for Patrick Roberts if he makes a permanent return to Manchester City after 18 months in the east end of Glasgow.
Borini can play in the wide right position and chip in with goals.
