Absolutely delighted the Dutch injected some swagger into the World Cup last night. Diego Costa continued the pattern this week of Brazilian born players profiting from a tumble inside the box, gifting Spain an early lead from the penalty spot, but the Dutch were irresistible.
Exactly how they managed to improve their performance against Spain, four years after losing the World Cup Final with the imperious Edson Braafheid, is a mystery of the modern game.
Netherlands scored all those goals and created even more chances with a meagre 36% possession. If they were German, we would be reverting to the national stereotype that they were the epitome of ‘efficiency’.
Speaking of the Germans, I’ve always had a lot of time for Franz Beckenbauer, but to find himself banned from football for coming up short in a matter with the words “Fifa” and “ethics” in it, must make him the most notorious German since, erm, well, in quite a long time. With his former Bayern Munich teammate Uli Honess due to be jailed this month for financial maleficence, it’s better to assume no one in the game is above sticking his snout in the trough.
The soul of football depends on the outcome of this Fifa investigation; no one should be above its reach. Beckenbauer’s provisional ban should be verified. Kick him out the game.
Fantastic stuff on the blog yesterday from Bertie Auld; what an honour to have these great guys among us. I’m heading to the Celtic Shop on Argyle St today where Bertie, Tommy Gemmell and John Hughes will be signing books between 13:00 and 16:00. If you’re in town I’ll see you there.
The Big Cup’s going to be there, so bring a camera.

Poverty, low life expectancy and inequality have caught up over the years and these for me are the issues I need to debate before deciding yes or no.

No answer.
Very good.
Maybe it’s in the white paper.
Ernie. Does it follow that since the present Earl Marshall is a Catholic that all other members of the Aristocracy would favour a Catholic as P.M. Not sure on that one. Indeed Norfolk might not want a Socialist, if he could find one in the Labour Party to be PM., no matter what his/her religion.
HT. Often when we have a minutes silence at CP, I say the De Profundis for the deceased and bless myself at the end of the silence. Are you saying even this discrete and private action could see me arrested by FOCUS or others in the early hours of the morning?.
Just back from a tour of Titanic brewery in Burslem Stoke on Trent-i have been on a few tours when you end up with a pint but this one when i say tour it was more like a bevvy session. Drinking a brew called nine tenths @ 5.9%.
Might not see sammi’s hat trick
Sammi back to his flying best
My friends in Celtic,
Although foodbanks should not be necessary they exist all over the UK not just in Scotland.
Can I just remind CQN’ers that Scotland has devolved powers, and that AS has been first Minister since 2011.
The devolved powers include Health, Education, Housing, Social work and Law.
It is easy to forget this and blame our big bad neighbour.

Colombian number 7 scores then blesses himself
FF in disarray .. Who to follow now
Colombia 1 up Greeks just miss one.
Just aswel the World Cup isn’t over here, the scorer blatantly blessed himself…tut tut :))
I really do not understand why we let Sammy go, the one bit of genuine quality we had.
We should be building the team round him.

“Any nats prepared to tell us why the SNP have never had a Catholic cabinet minister?”
Any chance you could produce another interesting fact about the SNP?
You must have posted that particular nugget about 300 times on here in the last six months.
####
1. And yet the nats were still denying until a few hours ago that it was true. So we have made some progress with their education.
2. Nobody has even attempted to explain or justify the state of affairs. So I’ll keep asking until I get an answer.

Would you like a slice of Tuna and Banana pizza at half time or is egg on your face good enough?

Does anyone know if the other Tim websites are full of the Indy debate ?
And what about the zombies .. Are they arguing over the vote as opposed to sorting out the mess that is sevco
connaire12
I’ve been known to do similar so one would hope not.
The first test may be when we face the new entity football club from Kinning Park.

I’m still on the abacus, being a Greek you should know that :-)

You mentioned the tuna / banana combo before
I’m assuming that’s homemade as I doubt any pizza pie shops would have a banana in stock ;)
Just finished ‘The Road toLisbon’, a great read for 99p on Kindle, the Stein sections were, without exception, excellent.
Can now concentrate on Sammi’s game.
Yogiy says Aye as well.
Can we just stop this game the noo please?!
Thoughts so far on World Cup day 3
(1) For those stuck watching on streams, french language streams seem to run more smoothly and with less delay (less demand?)
(2) I think there are Colombians in the flat above. The windows rattled & i thought it was an earth tremor
I am of the opinion that it was a bad move by Celtic to let Sammi go I know he can be frustrating at times but when he is up for it he is a real match winner. H.H.
HT
Of course

the ref is asking for bother if he sprays white lines in front of the colombians
Sammi tries to dribble the ball away from his own 18 yard line .. Loses it and does a Forrest by throwing his arms in the air and letting the Colombian away with the ball

Hun sites are overwhelmingly no voters…no surprise there then…incidentally I’m still unsure but my kids are 100% yes.

I was thinking Robbie fowler would have been in his knees at the free kicks
ernie lynch 17:09 on 14 June, 2014
You state it repeatedly. It’s as boring as the “only Catholics vote Labour” nonsense the Huns come out with.
Your position on the SNP and independence are obvious to all who come on here, and you are clearly passionate about the topic, which makes me think you should have better points to make other than repeating that one.
The referendum has nothing to do with religion and I doubt many people will be thinking about religion when they cast their votes unless they are particularly sad people.

Most folk tell me they are voting for their kids future
Shirley if your kids are yes voters so should you be
Any tactics are fair to me to ensure Indy ;)
