I don’t know if there is a good way to go out of Europe but that was certainly not one. Copenhagen won their first match by more than a solitary goal since 3 November. That they had a two-month winter break since then is not a mitigating factor. We could not have hoped for a better opponent in the knock-out stage of a European competition.
Neil Lennon was correct to say individual errors was to blame; he was also correct in not throwing players under the bus, but this does not tell the whole story. Copenhagen, tactically and individually, played the game of their season. They knew what to do to leave Glasgow with a result and set about doing it.
Celtic were the better team until Copenhagen took the lead, but that superiority never overwhelmed the visitors. In particular, we were short in midfield, where Copenhagen had greater mobility. Odsonne Edouard was a spectator for much of the game and he often found himself surrounded with three defenders when the ball came his way.
Christopher Jullien was very good, Mohamed Elyounoussi was a real danger until the tank ran dry. The same affliction befell Tom Rogic, who looked dead on his feet long before the second Copenhagen goal.
While this was a poor performance and dreadful result, it does not compare to the Cluj defeat in August. Going out of the Europa League at this stage, the last sixteen or quarterfinals makes little difference. As I said a few days ago, this week’s biggest game in St Johnstone on Sunday. That becomes our immediate focus.

I’ve a read some online articles about how we as a support are somewhat spoilt.
I don’t think that’s the case. I think we’re more than capable of accepting when we get beat by a better team.
It’s when you’re beat by a team that you should have beaten that fans can become very vocal.
P67 is right when he says that reaching the last 16 or last 8 meant little. However, the experience gained would have been invaluable to this team.
I hope Thursday makes us even more determined to get back into the CL next season.
Get the transfer business done early this summer and bring in quality at the back.
Neil also has to take on board his lessons from Cluj and Copenhagen when at times our shape was nothing short of amateur.

Regarding Jeff Hendricks – why would we be interested ? We’ve better at the club already.

A couple of points
1. With our financial power , beating teams like Aberdeen , Motherwell , st Johnstone , Kilmarnock are more an expected than wonderfull management and tactics against clubs with about 10% of our income
2. The clubs in Europe who are our main rivals , your Copenhagen , Maribor , cluj , Molde , Sparta Prague etc have approx 20- 50% of our income
We will never improve in Europe with a back room team of Neil ( very little experience ) John Kennedy ( zero experience ) No top European coach would play 3 at back 6 in midfield ( 2 wide players who hardy fight )
3. It had been clear that Eddie up front on his own usually means two or three players on him
When two up front it creates more space for Eddie
4. One of the reasons that Neil was stuck with that formation was down to peter lawell and his refusal to build a football department with experience to allow us to spend the huge sums we have built up
5. Nine of our European rivals in point 3 are run like this. Every one of these teams puts all its funds into the team Eg Sparta spent 10m on one player before they got to CL. That’s a third of their turnover
In summary. Happy clap as much as you want But we are being held back by peter lawells autocratic management system
A different CEO who would build a team under him to run the football department is what we need

Not one of our competitors has such a large cash in bank as us
We are a football club but not run as one
Ten years and 4 CL qualifiers. Something is going wrong at very top
Ntcham, Elhamed and Christie were missed.
Jozo, Elyonoussi, Rogic and Brown were not fully fit.
The shape was fine up until Jozo’s huge mistake.
At that point we chased the game and point 2 became more relevant. We didn’t have the legs to cover the wide open spaces.
The game was end to end and they won the duels and converted.

One might say that following that logic, there is no point in having a blog at all because no matter how much we debate we can’t really change anything. However at least talking about Football & analysing players & team performances is enjoyable.
Whatever about the semantics of where we should be or who our CEO or Manager should be the reality is for this season we have Pedro, Lenny & the present squad. There are 10 League games left we are only sure of a 7 point advantage, we have to play the Huns twice & have 2 tricky aways coming up against Livi & Hibs. We also have a Cup Quarter Final tomorrow.
Now is a time for circling the wagons, unite as a Support behind our Manager & team & tough it out together for next few weeks.
In the first half Varela was crap in my opinion, gave Taylor far too much time to put crosses in, also couldnt handle Ely, this team should have been beaten , we missed at least 6 good chances over 2 legs Eddie 4 McGregor shot when he should have passed and Ely here, their keeper had an incredible one arm lucky block from Griffiths, and they mocked the support at the end .
