Celtic must call for resignation of Regan and Doncaster

1440

Tomorrow’s SPL meeting is something of a formality, albeit as dramatic as a formality can be.  The main scheduled action of the week is underway at Hampden right now.  We hear that after issuing threats to exclude 20 SFL clubs from future access to the top two divisions in Scottish football, SPL and SFA chief executives, Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan, will face irate SFL chairmen.

In mitigation of the criticism coming his way, Mr Doncaster is offering your money, in perpetuity, to buy votes to allow Sevco to gain direct access to the First Division.  If passed, they would probably enter the SPL next season, close to debt free, while Celtic carry peak debt of around £35m after playing by the rules and not qualifying for Champions League football during the last three seasons.

In short, if Mr Doncaster manages to persuade the SFL chairmen to back his plan, Sevco will become by far the strongest team in the SPL a year from now.

The plan has been rejected as wholly unacceptable by an impressive list of clubs with no association whatsoever with Celtic, many of whom exist hand-to-mouth and whose vote against will cost them considerable income.

Doncaster’s part in creating this shambles cannot be underestimated.  He perpetuated the myth that “Rangers” should and would be in next season’s SPL, allowing people to invest in an undeliverable strategy, including Charles Green.

Mr Doncaster is an employee of the company Celtic are an equal-twelfth shareholder in.  His actions are wholly incompatible with sporting meritocracy.  As Celtic shareholders we call for his resignation and, if this is not forthcoming, demand he faces a confidence vote.

“Without fear or favour” was the promise from Stewart Regan when he told us he would apply the rules evenly as the Rangers saga unfolded.  In advocating rules are torn up and replaced his words are laughable.

His assertion that the actions of Campbell Ogilvie over Rangers EBTs had been investigated and that Ogilvie was found to be without blame was misleading.  It is our assertion that the actions of Mr Ogilvie were not investigated at all and that Mr Regan spoke to protect his ally, who remains in position despite being “heavily conflicted” according to Mr Regan, and the SFA being in desperate need of a strong and active president.

Mr Regan is now wholly compromised and must resign or also face a vote of confidence. Two years ago he joined a dysfunctional organisation. He had a great opportunity to make a name for himself as a successful troubleshooter. Instead he’s made matters worse!

PFA SCOTLAND RESPONSE TO ALLEGATION PLAYERS ACTING IN BREACH OF CONTRACT

    Jack Ross

    3rd July 2012

PFA Scotland understands that Mr Charles Green has written to all clubs in the English Premier League and Championship alleging that our members who have exercised their legal right not to be employed by Sevco Scotland Ltd (newco), have acted in breach of contract. This is repeated and PFA Scotland will shortly be writing to all clubs outlining our Solicitor’s legal view on this matter and sharing with them legal guidance issued by the Scottish FA which we believe supports the Players’ position. Whilst it is accepted that newco is entitled to argue breach of contract, the Players Union is dismayed that attempts are being made to prevent our members from playing professional football simply because the have exercised their legal right not to transfer to newco.

PFA Scotland President and FIFPro Executive Member Tony Higgins said ” I haven’t spoken to a single Employment or Sports Solicitor who agrees with Mr Green’s interpretation of the law. Our members are being advised by our employment specialists, Brian Napier QC and Wil Van Megen, Head of Legal Department at FIFPro. We are supremely confident that under TUPE and European Law on basic principles of freedom of movement, our members are entitled to sign for new clubs.”

PFA Scotland’s Lawyer, Margaret Gribbon of Bridge Litigation who acts on behalf of the majority of the objectors said “It is newco who have in actual fact acted unlawfully by failing to inform and consult with Rangers players prior to the TUPE transfer. Newco has never employed the Players or held their registration, yet they believe they are entitled to prevent the Scottish FA from releasing the Players’ registrations to the new company. Newco is not a member of any footballing body in Scotland and it is unclear what league they will be playing in at the start of the season. It is simply not credible therefore for Mr Green to accuse the players of being motivated by financial gain. The Players’ reasons for leaving are purely professional and Mr Green would not have had a club to buy had it not been for their salary sacrifices. We do not consider that the newco’s allegation of breach of contract will stand up to scrutiny and so in the event of the Players’ registrations not being issued to a new club, we will look to FIFA and/or the Court of Session for a speedy remedy.”

So the new Toxico has nothing to do with the old Rangers but we will give you a sort of apology.

We arra peepil who never say sorry.

  8. Celtic will NEVER have a better opportunity to enhance the game of football in Scotland and propel it forward and out of the grasp the parasites who do nothing for the development of our game.

If we chose to ignore this opportunity – Celtic will never realize its full potential and fail to emulate the great european teams of the past.

FORMER Glasgow Rangers player John Brown has accused Charles Green of giving in to Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell over a proposed deal to retain top-flight football at Ibrox.

Green has been meeting Clydesdale Bank Premier League clubs in recent days in a bid to persuade them to accept his new company’s application to acquire Rangers’ share in the competition.

Reports claim Green has offered to accept points deductions and a transfer embargo in order to secure SPL status.

Brown is leading an attempted fans’ buyout of Green’s company, who bought the business and assets of Rangers for £5.5million last month and he criticised Green’s approach.

    “Green has surrendered,” Brown said.

“I think Peter Lawwell had a dream about keeping Rangers in the SPL, but only if he could make sure they would never have any chance of winning the title, by giving them a points deduction for the next few seasons.

“That keeps the value of the SPL for Celtic and means they can maintain a big budget for players, so they can not only win the SPL, but also have a really good chance of getting into the Champions League groups for the next four years.

“That would bring Celtic in almost £100million and all the while Rangers would have to pay SPL wages while being banned from Europe for the next three years and also having no chance of winning the title.

“By also surrendering and agreeing to the SFA transfer embargo, Green will leave Rangers in with no players and Ally McCoist will actually face a fight to avoid relegation.”

Brown is pushing ahead with plans to mount a fans’ ownership bid after Green’s consortium rejected two bids from different parties since taking over.

“Right now I am putting in place the best legal team we can get, so that, we can do this in a proper corporate way, with supporters knowing that when they put money in to buy themselves a share in Rangers, their cash is safe.

“My plan will put Rangers men in charge of Rangers. The type of people who will not surrender to Peter Lawwell and Celtic the way Green has surrendered to them.”

Brown and former Rangers vice-chairman Donald Findlay are awaiting a meeting with Ibrox chairman Malcolm Murray after demanding to see ownership documents relating to the club.

Murray pulled out of a meeting yesterday and Rangers said one would take place later in the week, while Green later told supporters all of their questions would be answered in the next week.

  17. Glendalystonsils likes a mr whippy with his lime green jelly on

Every team in the SPL or SFL should be wherever they are on merit and merit alone. For Regan and his cronies to claim that we MUST have newco back in the SPL by 2013-14 clearly shows that we are being run by crooks and clowns.

I can hardly imagine what some of the division one refereeing in games involving newco next season might be like if we approach the end of the season and it’s touch and go whether newco will make it into the SPL for season 2013-14.

  18. JFH – Celtic should do everything to protect the integrity of the sport and represent the demands of fans all ovr Scotland. If reports are true that Celtic want Rangers but in a weakened state for a few seasons – this for me would be short term gain with long term consequences. (not sure if reports on this are accurate).

I’m not advocating Celtic to go public on their intention – I would expect them to apply major pressure on UEFA through lawyers (sporting integrity) and SFA (Tainted trophies/ dual contract biz).

Celtic too need to see the bigger picture – seek other revenue streams for Scottish football. I’d also like analysis done on the potential for sleeping clubs like Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen – how much investment couldthey attract if their teams are competing for cups and leagues, europ footy british cups perhaps. MSM has ignored ALL potential scenarios of this nature.

  19. I just want to sniff the pint that Brown is drinking:

  24. Still can’t believe the maniac used the term ‘surrendered to Celtic’. Is there anything more emotive to a unhinged member of the hundead ? “No surrender” isn’t that what they shout on their wee fabric of Scottish society marches? Someone is going to get seriously hurt because of that idiots lack of intelligence and his pandering to the base element (I agree that is the majority) of the Hundead.

  25. Regan & Doncaster had a fantastic opportunity as supposed outsiders to come into Scottish football and transform their respective organisations in such a way that we as Celtic supporters could trust.

    THEY HAVE FAILED US.

They are guilty of more cover ups and hun pandering than any previous regime.

They have to go, guilty as charged
