BRENDAN RODGERS is poised to plunge into next month’s transfer market to strengthen his Celtic squad.

A quality proven goalscorer is the Irishman’s priority with the champions left with an almighty problem with attacking duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda almost certainly involved in Japan’s plans for the Asian Cup which will be spread over January and February.

South Korean hitman Oh Hyeon-gyu will also get a call-up for his nation for the tournament.

Aberdeen’s prolific forward, Bojan Miovski, who netted against the Hoops in his side’s 3-1 loss at Pittodrie in August, is one who is interesting Rodgers, according to a report in The Scottish Sun.

Celtic face St Mirren in Paisley on January 2 before the winter break kicks in 24 hours later until January 19. The action resumes with a Scottish Cup fourth round meeting with Highland minnows Buckie Thistle at Parkhead on Sunday January 21.
