  1. Been watching Juve v Roma whilst mixing up my mulled cider : seems like my decent run of football results today will be ended soon. Decent game though.

Now having a large mug of mulled cider, purely for QC reasons of course.

  2. Thought today was a real proper day at the footie!

Opponents who were organised and who worked very hard to stop us. We had to work hard to get ahead and then got on top and never looked back.

We had some fine performances from Brown, Ayer, Hayes and Armstrong.

If we can play as well in the next two games the bhoys will have earned their break!

Brendan constantly proves to well worth the investment, so a huge thank you to him and his staff.

A big well done to the support for making it a really good atmosphere!

Merry Christmas to one and all when it comes!

  3. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Big Packy , I hope you and your two dogs recover fully from being viciously attacked yesterday.

McInnes used the same tactics as the pitt bulls on our players in the first half today. It reminded me of how Ferguson’s Aberdeen teams would boot us especially Cooper, Rougvie and Simpson.

I thought we put them in their place today despite their roughing us up .

Very pleased with our whole team today especially Broonie, Ajer and Hayes. Jonny looks like he is believing he is now a Celtic player . Broonie was making a fuss of him as they walked back to the half way line after our second goal.

Brendan brought young Ajer on as a sub last season and I noticed right away him shouting instructions to those round about him (including Broony). The Bhoy is a player

*could just have been passing on instructions from the bench, no matter what still a talent, when he does make it I hope some out there remember who brought him to us.

  5. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jimmynotpaul, I’m with you with singing Jimmy McStay in the Willie Maley song .

That gerrywan is at the madam lol

Been a good day on the Scottish football front but unfortunately over the water Cliftonville lost 2 nil to Hunfield.

  6. That was more like it, I was devastated after Sunday, I knew we would lose eventually but it was the manner of the loss that urinated me off. I watched the Arse/Liverpool game yesterday and when the ‘pool scored their 2nd I muted the tele, more because of my intense dislike of their bastarised version of the Fields, “oh how King Kenny could play”, aye because we allowed him the scope tae develop his talents.

But also, apart fae the girls returning from shopping, because I thought the game was deid, the gunners were more than pathetic and reminded me of us last Sunday, but they bounced back and it turned intae a terrific game with IMHO a fair result, oh why I thought could we have not done that.

I really feared our 7 was in peril so on Wednesday I wanted us tae scud the harry wraggs, later on with a bit of restraint I realised that other than THAT LC Final I had no gripe with the Maryhill Magyars in fact I enjoyed games against them particularly at Firhill for thrills.

This goes back to an opening LC game where future paisley look alike Frank Connor who had been freed at the end of the previous season was recalled owing tae big Frank and John Fallon being indisposed. Playing at right half was one of only 3 Lanarkshire born Lithuanian centre half’s with blonde hair to play for the Celts, John Kurila.

John was an outstanding centre half in the Jock Stein led reserves winning three reserve championship medals and a reserve league cup medal. The Jungle took to him and as a result of his play for the jersey style he earned the nickname “The Gorilla”, that didn’t go down well with the club especially Bob Kelly who was still stuck in the Corinthian attitude of the early days which possibly hindered his career development, that and the other blonde heided Lithuanian occupying the centre half position.

Also, in the side was the highly talented but inconsistent Mike Jackson, it was Mike’s car that Jack McGinn signed big Billy in for the Centennial season at the Clydebank Shopping Centre. A young Joe McGoals scored the sizzle’s equaliser.

The main memory for a young schoolboy, who 4 days later would be starting his 2nd year at Tradamus Lampada, standing in the enclosure was hearing one of our supporters shouting “gi’e us one for the black walk”, I had no idea what that was and on asking my da later he said he didnae ether, probably trying tae shelter his wee innocent bhoy.

So with an easy 2-0 victory I was satisfied, however, the scudding I wanted was for that sycophant m&m’s mob. 3-0 going on 6 or 7, it was as easy as that, 8 points and 23 GD clear, meanwhile over at hades, uch who cares.

  7. Too many positives to comment on today but my highlight was KTs battle with McLean. KT gritted his teeth and showed him who is the boss. A quality performance by one of the best left backs in the world. Hh

  8. Just home after a great day.

Thought Aberdeen started well and played without fear, all driven by Shinnie. However neither he nor his teammates could sustain that pace and once he went in the book he was no use. Brown played with his head and as the game wore on became more and more dominant. The first goal was always going to be crucial and so it proved, once we got in front it was plain sailing. Ntcham was able to pop the ball about and we had complete control. Ajer was immense in every sense and completely bossed Rooney who was anonymous. Credit to all the players for a fine effort, physically we won the battle, we were first to all of the second balls.

Overall a satisfying day as we assumed complete control of the League championship and banished the disappointment of last week.

Hope the work is still standing without me :-) School runs, nursery runs. dog walking and a bit of Cqn, are these people that think if they win the lottery they couldn’t fill their day, give me a shot I could easily fill my day, I can do it with no money The now :-)

  11. THETIMREAPER

I was about to post a very similar summary. I would add that Brendan made slight changes to our formation at half time. Not sure what (I’m not a tactician) but suddenly we went from being crowded out in midfield to finding space, especially Ntcham.

The sign of an experienced and skillful manager.

Btw I thought Broonie was fantastic today. That man has no fear. A true leader and Celtic great.

  12. It’s no coincidence that after last week Brendan has shown faith in Ajer and given Mikey Johnson an opportunity during the week. The end of the unbeaten run was the end of the beginning of the Brenda era. It’s time to freshen things up with some youth and by moving a few players on in the window. When a team is always winning you need to guard against becoming stale.

It’s seems to me Brendan has sussed the way we do business. Transfers become long sagas and do not conclude quickly. As we approach his 4th window as Manager he is well ahead of the game. There will be activity in January in both directions. We may not go 69 games unbeaten again but we can and need to get better.

  13. Gftb I’ve not been Johnny’s biggest fan but I had a feeling today’s game was made for him. His game management and movement was excellent and he worked his socks off. A superbly taken and well deserved goal for the Dubliner. Hh

  14. DALLAS DALLAS WHERE THE HECK IS DALLAS. thanks mate for your kind thoughts. just starting to get back to normal. you ghuys on cqn you know who you are just top notch.hh.

    Good Evening CQN

Great game today. First half was tough and very physical ( by Aberdeen), with the referee being very lenient with the early tackles.

Immense second half by the Hoops as we out shone the Dandy dons and put them to the sword.

This game was fittingly between the top two teams in Scotland with a great atmosphere.

Oh, and we have a winner on LMS9. Congrats to Paddy McCourt CSC! More on this tomorrow, together with details of our next competition, Goals Galore 3 which starts very, very soon.

You will have saw more of Johnny H than me, but my opinion before Paddy R came back Brendan was making sure we were covered. some might slag Johnny Hayes (SSB) but Johnny is there to fill in when needed I think it’s still December and Celtic have played around 30+ competitive games, so we need every one of our first team squad, got a feeling come February our team will hammer some teams a wee break is as good as a holiday :-)

  17. The supporters knew it was a big game today. I’ve not heard YNWA sang like that before a league game at CP in a long time. Hh

I listened to the game on the radio …their views .

    1. Aberdeen were well in it and unlucky not to be 1 or 2 in front

    2. Celtic were lucky the breaks they got .

    3 . Packy B…. did say it could’ve been 5 or 6 to us .

    4. You could barely hear singing at times …selective volume methinks .

Looking forward to the highlights tomorrow .

  19. Marspapa 10.19pm

I will be gutted if/when our Leigh leaves, I realise Celtic is bigger than any player and I love Brendan but the day Leigh leaves (if he does) will be a sad day, we have a wee Hibee who loves scoring goals …. keep him Brendan !

  20. LMS9

    Congratulations Paddy McCourrCSC

    CRC & Jobo terrific stuff

If the next competition is goals galore watch Mike in Toronto backing the Sevs :-) (every week if he could by all accounts !!!!

  21. Come on Peter Lawell ,the toilet facilities,in the front of Main Stand,is a disgrace,Women waiting in a long queue,,when questioned at the A G M, about upgrading the Main Stand,he said the cost would be between 30 to 40 million pounds, which I doubt, well do it in stages,do something the Supporters at least deserve better Facilities.

  22. Gooooood Evening CQN

Great Effort from the team today, and for me that’s our best midfield display all season

    Including supporting the defence.

Some players returning to form, and others finding form ??

Can I ask, is there anyone on the blog from Uddingston ???

The Bhoy who sits next to me and has since we returned to Celtic Park in 95 has been missing this past month, he is an Uddingston Bhoy

    Hail Hail

As a young Bhoy my striking heroes were Mo, McAvennie, Walker (befire I knew better) then I thought recently Stokes & Hooper were telepathic and could have scored hunners of Goals (Sutton & Larsson were msgical) but I love our Leigh
