PHILBHOY- or you can see it as getting an experienced centre back, with 5 years EPL under his belt, and the manager trusts,on a Bosman?

True and the thing is, we don’t know who scouted and approved the Duffy signing.

If Howe has worked with a certain player and feels he can do a job, we need to trust his knowledge. We can’t complain on the one hand that the manager isn’t signing his own players then complain when he does.

  3. !!BADA BING!! on 4TH APRIL 2021 11:38 AM

I hope we have Eddie Howe signed up, if Newcastle get pumped today, you wouldn’t rule out Ashley bagging Bruce ,and going after Howe….

    ———————————————

I’m hoping for a spirited, narrow defeat for Newcastle today. Just so it keeps them in the relegation mire but convinces Ashley the players are still playing for Bruce :)

  4. Goliath, when it was not framing over something being built looked pretty forlorn, but iconic all the same.

Cultural crime that no one in local government had the forsesight to preserve it and repurpose as a tourist attraction.

I only ever thought about it as a Portonion, very few places in the town where you could not see the crane,

That must have been the same for everywhere else on the lower clyde,

I like old buildings and heritages, but I dont get too upset about losing them, they are soon forgotten (like st stivs school), but losing this one still gets me annoyed.

  5. Reading an article about the Huns supposedly being in for a Peterboro striker.I contacted my mate who works at the club, the guy who gave me the lowdown on the Toney saga.He says the guy is a good striker,26 goals this season, and he has taken up the slack left with the departure of Toney. Not as good, but if he keeps it up,will be a few clubs in for him.Where do Peterboro, get these strikers from?

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Happy Easter to all on here.

I always enjoy reflecting on a game a day later…..

…. after all my intra-match “Arrgghh !!” has disappated.

Not bad. Job done. Good goals.

    Still think we overplay it.

Neil’s approach APPEARED to be based on

    – possession is king

    – move them, work them

    – then at edge of the box – quick, intricate, 5 yard give and gos to create chances

I suspect the new manager will need time to wipe this stuff from the player’s memory banks.

Good call made earlier re Arteta at Arsenal which backed up a revealing stat on MOTD last night.

1.5 PPG over 50 league games?

Inferior numbers than those that retired Wenger and sacked Emery.

IMHO, the boy is another of those stubborn idealists who value the purity of their principles over tangible outcomes.

Can’t see it lasting long or ending well.

Jonson Clarke-Harris? From what little of seen, he looks a good finisher. At 26, he’s not old but probably needs to move soon if he’s to get a “big” move.

  9. Wolves allegedly offering 15 million for McBurnie they must be crazy ! Can’t believe that guy makes a living as a fitba player !

    Who can you spot?

    ————————————–

Definitely Pádraig Pearse as he gave the graveside oration, but is that also Thomas Clarke a few rows behund him to his left?

  11. Philbhoy,

I’m with you on loan players, though would side with Geebee that the problem isn’t having 1 loan player it’s having 4 in the first team. That’s when I think it’s safe to say something has gone wrong.

I disagree on out of contract players though. David Alaba the Bayern Munich defender is going on a free this season, Aaron Ramsay went to Juve on one. Did Larsson not go to Barca on one?

I wouldn’t be surprised if more and more players aren’t happy to run down their contracts and boost their weekly wage when they sign for their new club.

Out of contract doesn’t necessarily mean they are guff.

  12. Who needs the Scottish rags with CQN article headline, Celtic Flop Heads for Exit.

    Pathetic.

  13. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

A worrying feature of this season’s Celtic is how the leadership all congratulate each other for being brill8ant, clever etc, etc.

Look at the state of us. 20 points behind the huns, most of the team leaving, losing to everyone and their granny. Nae wonder we’re in such a state with these mutually protective muppets back slapping away while the place falls apart.

Will never forget Lennon’s part in all this. Completely out of his depth and clung on till the season was completely in the toilet. Sickening.

    MAJESTIC HARTSON

As you say 16 caps for McBurnie is a joke , Bobby Lennox got 12 !

  15. McPhail Bhoy on

Question earlier about how is Eddie Howe with the media? Consensus seems to be he communicates well, that’s as maybe. But this was with the English media who are not cheerleaders for one club and one club only and do their best to paint one club as negatively as they can (that’s Celtic in case you were wondering). There’s been a lot of talk lately about clear outs. The area which needs most attention outwith the coaching/playing squad after the Board is the communications department, they are woeful. Eddie Howe will need a very clear head’s up (and support) on the laptop loyal!

  16. No supporters, no cause Celtic games can’t end quickly enough including John Beaton’s latest 90 minutes dead, where he didn’t even have the excuse of hurrying to the bar of choice, for his after match pint. Five subs and a stretcher, earning no more hesgoal never mind a deserved 4th for the Hoops.

Most neutral refs would have seen the Leigh Griffiths block as a stone waller, SFA denialists, hand them out elsewhere, but with Eddy rested, Ajeti and the Griff failed to make a real impact in this Saturday night affair. James Forrest was the easter egg a sight for very sore eyes, restoring natural attacking balance on the right flank missed all season and through out Neil Lennon’s torturous elongated exit.

The Peter Pan winger will be any new managers go to guy, as he has been since joining Celtic at the tender age of eleven. Quite frankly, the rest toiled, including Tom Rogic in for the other rested McGregor, next season’s captain elect. Captain’s announcing that they’ve left for pastures new just rubber stamps no cause Celtic this season, where loan players don’t even begin to mask deficiencies evident from the start.

Whatever Mohammed el Younoussi’s price if he has one, it’s too much IMO, back to the market for us, driven by jerseys and season tickets. £5M is the new normal, and can buy you nothing when you are searching for diamonds in the midden. The paying Celtic supporter dictates the standard of player the new manager will be able to afford, the crucial part is who does the searching and buying on our behalf?

  19. Och I did wake them up, torn face Latchford,

how many football games did you manage a team for ? you managed anything in life ? a crew in maccyD’s ? a team of shift workers ? an internationally known business with a hostile media audience anything to say you can actually critique someone elses work ?

Neil Lennon had 1/2 a bad season, even then he won a cup to complete a historic quadruple treble.

Even then, in the second spell he lost only 16 matches from 110.

He might not have performed as well as before, in that little horrible spell, however he was never out his depth.

ps, i really hope you give up your season card, if you have one, your never going to enjoy it, no matter who is in place, go find something to make you happy, SUPPORTING celtic doesnt.

PPS – as recently as 19/20 Neil was SFWA manager of the year,

    ————————

Wherever Neil is today, I wish him a restful, happy, peaceful easter sunday, and thank him for all the service to Celtic, and the many joyful moments he took part in during those times.

  20. lets all do the huddle on

so it looks like there is a consensus that callum and jamesie should make up 2 of the places in the new managers starting midfield

i cant help think some folk havent been watching closely when it has come to working out where our problems lie

we have many issues to sort out

but one of the biggest is that we have a team of lightweights, especially in the midfield

so you are just asking for a continuation of getting swatted aside when we play even average european sides

but its ok cos we can beat falkirk in the cup with them in the side

  21. It the daftest way, I kinda feel ok , that drawing Frankenstruth’s monster at the edwardian toilet block, means they didnt get the £1 million-ish revenues

  22. cmon huddle, being wee or not, them two bhoys contribution to the last 9 years has been immense,. They are what 29 and 26 ?

Buils a big team around them if needed, but dont let the best of them go.
