Oh what an adventure, and yes I was on the trams :-)

If the stadium holds 67k, there was easily 45k in there today,

When I see the Celtic :-)

    BB,

    There was no misunderstanding.

I had wrongly responded to Terrymac without having properly read his post.

    Sheer carelessness.

You gently pointed that out to me for which I was grateful.

I thank you & again apologise to Terry.

    Good Luck.

  6. Anyone got the match program. I am told my boy is in the middle picture. Was going to say centrefold, but that would sound so wrong….:)

Tonight’s Bravery Award goes to the Reykjavik forward who had his shoulder dislocated and manoeuvred back in by the physio, OUCH !

If you believe in a god then you will by definition not know what said god is thinking due to the invisible aspect.

As such, all believers assume their god blesses their endeavours, hence the prayers on both sides of the trenches.

The prefix ‘god bless the..’ Is currently an exuberant, well meaning amplification of a love for an individual or group. It is not necessarily religious.

Your attempt to kill a poster’s joy at watching the GB by assuming a god is not a socialist is prankery.

May your commisar go with you

  9. Big bunching and jockeying for position by CQNers waiting to grab a podium when Paul67 finally makes it back home to post the match report.

  10. Got back from Murrayfield about 30 mins ago,

    Green Brigade excellent

  11. Just home. And if it wasn’t for my brilliant decision to jump on a tram back into the city then get off at the next stop and start coming back the correct way I think I might still have been in that queue.

Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed everything about tonight. Even my half time team talk with The Battered Bunnet, a true caring gentleman.

    The road to Berlin continues…

  13. iPaddy McCourt on

Very good performance from the team tonight and Murrayfield was brilliant – it outclasses Hampden in every way

  14. I’m not getting carried away, but I’m already looking forward to the next game. Tonight’s performance was pleasing to the eye. Ronnie can get this team going forward. We do need a few players still to compete in the Champions League.

By the way, I watched Celtic TV on an illegal stream here in West of Ireland, yet I would happily pay for it.

  15. Loved Murrayfield. Proper stadium, great facilities and wide, open spaces around the ground.

Well done the DRU for flying the tricolour high! Scotland’s establishment club right enough…

    Good atmosphere too.

Drove home on a packed M8 with warm air wafting in the windows from the humid and balmy night. Weird.

All in all, great to be back

  16. !!Bada Bing!! on

KK- It can be easy to post something that doesn’t read the way it is intended mate, you knew the bhoy in question so it’s sorted :))

  17. Missed the first 35 minutes, missed 3 goals, had to park miles away. Almost missed Teemu’s excellent second goal (the Huddle was in full flow). Just turned to face the park as he blasted it high into the net.

Anyway, what I did see I enjoyed immensely.

A couple of records tonight surely

The biggest crowd to watch a game of football in the capital. Must have been at keast 40k

The first time at a sporting event at Murrayfield where not one spectator wore a barbour jacket!!

I’ll be leaving Glasgow at midday for our next game there!

    Nighty night

  21. The Battered Bunnet on

Great stadium Murrayfield. Absurd location, not helped by the strictly 20th century roads network in the central belt. Nice trams and all, but not set up to service a big crowd at the stadium. Mayhem after the game.

Quite the novelty tonight, enjoyed the occasion, and being just back, am away to see if I can find a link to the highlights so I can see the first 3 goals for the first time…

Good to see Jobo and JohnnyMac, fine fellows.

Poor Jobo had Pukki at 16s for a hatrick, and was somewhat disconsolate to see him getting hooked after his 2nd goal with a full 15 minutes left to play.

  22. Fair enjoyed the atmosphere in AND around the ground tonight. Stewards AND police were not jobs worths, our club should take a lead out of murrayfield … The organisation of refreshments and food were first class as was the exiting of the ground .

  23. Tricoloured Ribbon on

The crowd at Murrayfield would’t come anywhere near the record for a football game in Edinburgh.

Hibs record attendance at Easter Rd is nearly 66,000.

  24. Ipaddy,

100% agree with that! Murrayfield puts that Hamdump to shame, just shows how good a job that SFA have done, when we have afar superior Rugby ground, than that of our national sport.

I know home late, but I enjoyed that experience today :-)

Maybe a lot to do with having the Celtic back though

Hail Hail and night night Tim world

  25. Very enjoyable night. Football was pleasing on the eye. 4 goals scored. None conceded.

Question mark over the subs, not what I would have liked. But I’m sure there was method to them.

Trams. Ok for getting to the ground. Appalling trying to get back. There should have been many of them lined up going to the airport. Logistically may not be possible. 6-10 mins between does not work.

  26. charles kickham on

M8 a nightmare on the way there and the way back – missed the first two goals – enjoyed the layout of the stadium – spacious – end result – I’ve had worse nights

  27. Watched the match in Bunbeg in Donegal.

Brucie Bonus was started to talk to this guy about the match and the formation adopted by Ronnie. Moved on to talking about the Deid team, wee tax case, big tax case,LNS, Masonic cabals, Regan, Doncaster, the absolute failure of the SMS to report anything negative on Sevco,The Green Brigade and the likelihood of an insolvency event for The Rangers.

Bless my soul if I wasn’t talking to P MC Gband his boy. Just as well I had crammed on “Downfall”.

    Really nice ghuy btw.

  29. I must have been the only fan to like Teemu last year…..I thought he looked a little bewildered ….but that could have been the system and settling in issues. I really like the Northern European players……..including Harald Bratbaak, back then. These are Ronny D players.

Henke was ok for a superstar ….. Don’t think he was as prolific goal scorer as Jimmy McGrory. Just kidding. Great to be a Celt. Anyway, come on Teemu

  30. Just back about 15 mins ago. Just over 2 hours to get home to G45 via Cumbernauld (M9). Trams were a sweatbox, and standing room only, seating arrangements very poor, and about 30 mins to get from Haymarket-Ingliston. Great stadium, with some excellent-looking food stalls within the perimeter. Will try and make the St. Pats/Legia game, despite the chaos at the tram stop, it was still the quickest way to get out of Embra.

Thought it was a rather comfortable performance tonight, but we’ll need to play a bit better against better opposition. The number of times the ball was played across the 6-yard box with no takers, worries me.

    End London rule.YES.

P.S. Anyone know what the official attendance was?

  31. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

It’s been great to read all the mostly positive reviews re the infrastructure at Murrayfield.

    I don’t mean transport wise.

Hopefully, the things that worked well will be acknowledged and incorporated into the Celtic

    Park experience.

Not sure what, if anything, can be done about transport, but, the civic authorities have a fortnight to make whatever changes they can.

I reckon the next game will be close to a sell out, especially if it is against Legia.

If we build on tonight’s performance, then I can see a lot of lapsed fans returning, as it is the stuff on the park that fills the ground.

    It’s called entertainment.

My daughter took her son to the game and they can’t wait till the next one.

  32. FourGreenFields on

Just back in from Murrayfield , went through on the Citylink bus earlier in afternoon . Waiting on the 10 o’clock bus back – chaos , car stops with 3 Celtic supporters in it and asked if we ( me and missus ) were going to Glasgow .

Jumped in and dropped at Cowcaddens ( eventually – traffic was mental )

So would just like to say thanks to the 3 Bhoys , would probably still be trying to fight our way onto a bus .

  33. westies

I agree 100% with you re. Pukki. I said last season was all about settling in, and I think he will kick on this season and become the player we thought we bought. I can see him in the Kris Commons role in future.

  34. the glorious balance sheet on

Thoroughly enjoyable game and occasion tonight. It was quite something walking round the back of the stadium to see loads of Celtic fans sunbathing in Roseburn Park before the game!

The turnout was better than I expected – somewhere between 40,000 to 45,000 I`d guess – and the atmosphere was great in all parts of the stadium. No doubt at all that Murrayfield is a far superior arena than Hampden.

As for the game – job done and good for Pukki to get a couple of goals, we badly need our strikers to do their bit in these qualifiers and ease the burden on Kris Commons. KR were a very limited team but worked hard and played a fair and clean game.

Next round will be a big step up, especially if its Legia Warsaw who make it through. Can`t wait for the next game at Murrayfield, here`s hoping for another big turnout and a similar result.
