Vacationing from across the pond and making my first trip to Paradise on May 9th with a CP tour a couple of days prior. Any absolute must do or things to try at Celtic Park on match day? Other than bring some goods along for the food drive. First live match since the exhibition against Man U in Toronto, but it’s really all the way back to the Drybrough Cup Final of ’74. HH

A visit to CQN corner would be my recommendation. Just outside the Celtic superstore . Visitors are especially welcome.

Thank you, will absolutely check it out. I’ll have bought out the store on the Monday, so lots of time pre-game to soak up the atmosphere.

Tell frankie (luv that name) and benny I never stopped posting, I tend to stay off when the bullies are on. Spud ( our latest rescue dog) and Molly ( who we rescued 11 years ago) enjoy my reporting on their counterparts from likewise Celtic Supporting homesteads. Lol. HH.

    How are you pal?

Best all round performance from the team in some time … don’t think we will have as easy a game in the final..

And I think I am in the minority here… but I actually don’t think that Sevco team are as bad as we made them look today … they have some decent players, but we definitely seem to be in their heads now …

    Ajax…

Definitely make sure you get to CQN corner … I did, and from personal experience, I can guarantee that you will meet some really great lads, and make some great new friends

  10. After such a wonderful performance and result on reading back it is disappointing to read Kevj comment at 5.28.

Brilliant position we are in. Have long awaited surgery at last this Friday down your neck of the woods. If all goes well, will take my seat again next season. Have renewed and have not attended a game tthis season with this issue. My ST has been used by a relative who can’t afford a ticket, so not all bad. Really looking forward to meeting up again at the “coarner” G. :-))) HH

I hope you have a great trip, keep posting and let everyone know your plans.

    Hail Hail

    ——————————————–

    JIMMYNOTPAUL, many thanks!

When the trip was planned, there were no weekend days as we come in on the Sunday morning and leave Friday for France so a CP tour was the best alternate option. I’m one of the few who is pleased with post split fixtures for obvious reasons and managed to get almost center field tickets when they became available. Highland tours, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Glasgow make for a busy few days! Hail Hail!

  16. to all tims everywhere, gonna keep posting till i succomb to the alcohol, gonna keep celebrating a win against them.hh.

MIKE IN TORONTO on 15TH APRIL 2018 8:08 PM

DD, I’m in Mike’s neck of the woods and we’re having an ice storm today, but we’ll do what we can.

Mike, I’ll definitely check out the CQN corner. Despite all of the trip planning I’ve done, this is something that you can’t Google.

    Hail Hail!

  20. Couple of random thoughts on today.

As many have said, that was as comprehensive a victory over a team from Ibrox as I’ve ever seen. I think they might even have given a better account of themselves with McDowell in charge.

Brendan got it spot on, and his biggest problem now is how to keep everyone in our strong squad happy.

On Sevco…For those of us who came of age in the 90s, every victory over them is cathartic. Personally, I feel deeply that we were cheated out of victories and titles by Murray in the late 90s onwards, via his despicable EBT/side-letter scheme – but its those early-mid 90s days which remain the most painful memories.

We were so far behind them it did indeed look as if football rivalry in Glasgow would be a historical curiosity, rather than a fierce competition. These days, with victory after victory, humiliation after humiliation, endless victories at Ibrox and Hampden, 4, 5 goals a game… these are the days that stir men’s souls. And they are days the 19-year-old me thought I would never live to see.

The difference between Rangers/Sevco and us, can be seen in how we both reacted in similar circumstances. We always felt we could give them a game in those dark days, but we knew they were much better and that improvement was only achievable via good management, astute signings, and unwavering support for the team on the park.

They, on the other hand, have STILL not accepted what’s happened to them. They STILL think they have a divine right to win things, to be on top. They cannot grasp that clubs like Hibs, Motherwell, Killie, and Aberdeen might actually be bettered managed than them. They certainly can’t accept that we are.

And so when a defeat comes – especially one as crushing as today’s- they treat it as an Act of God. They react like primitive people seeing an eclipse or a comet for the first time. How did that happen? they think. Blow me, I didn’t see that coming…

This total lack of contextual knowledge is what allows them to be fleeced again and again and again. Murray, Whyte, Green, now King. Each one arrives the saviour. Each one is dodgy as hell. And every time things fall apart, they find themselves blinking, uncomprehending, at the rubble, as the rest of world football laughs at them.

For Sevco, improvement will only come when they accept the world as it is, not as they imagined it to be in 1992. Those days are gone, never to return. And unless they wisen up soon, even being second to us might soon be beyond them.

    Now, a single malt…
