for all the years i’ve been going….57 yrs ouch!. That was as good and opener as i’ve ever seen. long may it continue………..and i rarely say or sing this but “bring on the ragers”

  3. fourstonecoppi on

Bye the way where do you lot stand before the match?……i’m generally up there early

  4. Just back from the game and it will be hard for any negatives to be drawn from that game though I am sure some could find fault that Bain did not get on the scoresheet.

We will keep our feet o the ground as it is just the opening game and it was at home. Many good signs that Lenny values taking a pot-shot higher than he values retained possession in the final 3rd. It may not be the “modern coach” method but it’ll keep more of us happy and entertained.

A big Euro tie on Wednesday and an away fixture next Saturday will tell us more about our strength in depth. Meanwhile, well done and thank you Celtic!

And well done and thank you to all who gave to the Kano buckets!

  5. Today was just sensational across all aspects of the Club. A wonderful and memorable day.

  6. Just back (through a storm) from Parkhead.

I was one of those not at all happy about the return of Neil Lennon.

    Time for humble pie.

As my mate was saying during the game, watching this makes you realise how boring Brendan Rodgers’ team could be.

Granted that, imo, St Johnstone were even poorer than the Estonian team,we played some great football.

If only Odsonne Eduard’s effort had gone in at the end of the first half, that would have been the perfect match.

Thank you, Celtic, and thank you especially NEIL LENNON.

Does that win today mean that we’ve eaten into Sevco’s huge pre-season lead a wee bit?

    Views from a dodgy stream…

Great debut from Elhamed. Kept it simple, but looked strong and determined. Best game for us so far from Bolingoli, tidier in possession than previous games, and like Elhamed, showed great energy. If these two cam maintain that form, we have a potent set up for stretching teams going forward. Still to be tested defensively.

The midfielders all put in the kind of faultless shift that we are coming to expect from them. Brown had the cigar out, tidying up, and starting attacks. Callum kept things ticking over, always looking to move the ball forward, but the main plaudits go to Ryan Christie, for his hat trick performance. When watching new players, I hope that every Celtic supporter, can give the new bhoys some space to grow into playing for Celtic. Christie and McGregor are probably our two most potent players at this moment in time, and both were branded useless by a section of the support in the past. I thought myself, that McGregor would never make it with us, and now he is the first pick if fit. A lesson for us all. No player in the history of football, has ever played better, when his own fans are on his back, it’s hunnish.

A word for French Eddie – and that word is tireless. The guy just never gives up, and I was so pleased he got his goal. It was well deserved. Wee Mikey is giving us the spark that used to be provided by Sinky… going wide, darting inside, pass, move, twist and turn. He also deserved his goal. The defender he faced up before shooting will still be trying to untwist his legs at Sunday lunch.

Finally a shout out for another great performance from the Invisible Man. Two assists and a selfless run to create space for N’tcham’s goal. Also had more than a few shots on goal, and on another day could have had his own hat trick. I am seriously at a loss to know why some on here have it in for him.

My money is going on him to score in Cluj. 18/5 anytime scorer with Hills. Remember, gambling is for mugs 🤔

Scott Brown is the heart beat of this team still and remains no 1 midfield pick. Not even a debate

    ======

Every single one of our best performances last season came when Brown was injured. 4 goals in 6 league games before his injury then 6, 4, 5 and 5 in the next 4 league games he missed. Played Leipzig off the park for 75 mins with a midfield 3 of McGregor / Christie / Rogic. Imo our best European performance since MO’Ns team ripped Lyon apart in 2003. I’ve no intention of getting into this any further today. But there clearly, clearly is a debate to be had

Without getting too carried away, a terrific start to Neil’s tenure in qualifiers & first league game, (with his team :-) Neil has many detractors in Scottish fitba so am hoping Celtic fans judge him on results … if he fails then give him grief …. until then some shouldn’t :-)

Delighted for Neil today … he did say big Hatem was a right back :-)

  11. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Meant to add, has Griff found a new role for us as Supersub I wonder? I think it suits him, he struggles to maintain 90 minutes of effort, but to my mind is a very effective player when the games are getting stretched in the last half hour. He would benefit against defenders that had been “Eddie’d“ for the first hour.

  12. CELTIC MAC…

Hopefully got the moniker right, anyways you know who you are, owe you a few beers as OLDTIM was dogmatic not to take any money.

Hopefully he enjoyed his present from me.

For by that.. What a performance from our bhoys.

I know when we do well, no contact from huns. 😀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

At least you recognise you didnt rate him & maybe should have gave him some space.

    Fair play

I didnt think McGregor would blossom into the player he is now.

    Griff = Supersub !!!

Away an boil yir heid :-)

Our best number 9, well centre forward, Edouard is exceptional and will learn from the Griffmeister :-)

Neil can fit all our good attacking players in the team … definitely a team game these days or wee Griff would be raging at not starting

  15. What is the Stars on

    Ok

Too much of this love in

If people are going to be content with beating SPL cannon fodder (pub league) then fair enough.

Keep paying to see that If you want to contribute to the failed bean counters pension plan.

Tierney Rogic McGregor Ntcham are all for sale and are being touted to agents of clubs in the bottom half of the EPL.

And still no right full !!

And for anyone who comes on in reply and says in typical happyclapper board lap poodle style ” but we won 7 nil “…Let me say this…it wasnt 7 it was only 6…the last goal being scored after the 86th minute when all real games end.

    Da Ranjurs are comin suckers…

  16. Wits 7.28pm

No bites … even the unhappiest of Tim’s (& we have many :-) canny even give you a response … just you wait until a draw or even a defeat :-)

What’s your views on my Jamesie anytime scorer bet.

I value your opinion as the worst punter in Lanarkshire 😉

  19. What a performance from the team today. Absolutely sublime. Ryan Christie, Odsonne and Mikey Johnston were unplayable. Midfield and fullbacks were so dominant. Nor and Kris quashed any attempts from St. Johnstone to create anything. Scott Bain had little to do but did it well, especially coming off his line to catch a dangerous cross ball. I’m still smiling and I’ve been home an hour even after walking to Dalmarnock to find westbound trains off and having to walk back to Bellgrove. Nothing is gong to rain on my parade today. Thank you to Lenny and the Bhoys for a wonderful performance.

PS I actually think if we buy another two/three players during this window, we must get accomplish something in Europe like winning some group games and reaching the last 16 but ssssh ……… don’t tell anyone.

  20. Creating magnificent Celtic atmospheres are typically done in our home, a day for summer football advocates, Shirley? as Celtic destroyed St Johnstone, who would have been rated higher on the internet, than Sarajevo or Kalju, before 3.00pm

The ball sat up for Celtic seven times, and the new decidedly Neil Lennon look, pummelled the Perth men, from the K.O. playing Jock Stein’s pure beautiful inventive football. Our “ third rate, sacked by Bolton sacked by Hibs ” jurassic coach has managed to turn the clock back, but just to his predecessor’s early freshness, when SPL sides including Sevco, were swamped in the same Stein mantra.

Huddling in the Parkhead humidity before its even half time watching the beautiful game unfold in front of 60,000 fans, demonstrates a contrast of 1993, where the same type, decked in green, saw Celts beat St Johnstone 1-0 in front of 15,693 of us.

Join this Celtic festival, you owe it to yourself. CSC

  21. I heard a guy phoning into RCSS tonight.

He was extolling Celtic’s performance especially in the light that we had failed to win the Close Season Cup which he named The Joey Barton Trophy

    Brilliant.

  22. theBHOYfromU.N.C.L.E on

Think we are seeing a leaner, hungrier and more focused Edouard this season…………..the goals will follow

  23. !!Bada Bing!! on

As BRS is alluding to, pleased for Neil after that display today, the nonsense about Jose or Rafa coming in, didn’t help the guy, hugely promising start to the season, less fannying about at the back, and in the last third the majority of the game.

  24. Delaneys Dunky on

Brilliant display in the sunshine today. Every player shone in Paradise. Could easily have been double figures. I can’t remember a hattrick, where every goal was scored from outside the box. Bravo Ryan, deserved motm.

    Bring on the Romanians!

  25. don’t post much now on here, but still luv you ghuys ,great display, ntcham there is a player there, also mikey, ryan calum and all the new ghuys, if we can manage another 2 quality signings before the window shuts, we will go into the group stage I firmly believe that.hh,

  26. Don’t get to see the hoops in the flesh. But it would appear that the hungry boxer syndrome stil exists in the form of boys like Ajer Christie and given he has just arrived Alhmed. We will see them off again no problem.

  27. Hrvatski………………..
