Go on feel free,i will even take out the agenda part,

did you merge 2 different quotes by the manager into 1

  2. Signing a winger of significant potential with a view to him coming next season is good forward planning, same goes for bayo. when the loan players depart at end of this season the bhoys will likely be needed. If a very good opportunity presents itself to you in life, in business and/ or in football you have to make a choice, stick or twist, we would more that likely be looking for a winger in the summer so make no sense to not pursue for the same of 4 months.

A right back is very much needed and to be fair we do appear to be trying to improve that area of the pitch, but again its about getting the correct players in, BR has already said he wants better that the correct options and If he was happy to have lesser players he could have had them already.

Thought weirs movement was great tonight and scott done very well. Good team preformance. We need a good run of results

  3. After our game I watched the oldest club versus the youngest club televised match.

    Random observations.

Killie are a very hardworking and tactically very disciplined team. Some individual talents. One scored the winning goal. The guy Power had a very good match.

Killie remind me of Dundee united circa 1980. Don’t underestimate them they have a great team ethic with a great man manager.

Onto the zombie monkey Huns. They continue to be a pish ensemble. The new additions added nothing. The funniest moments when they subbed defoe for Lafferty and you got a view of dumb and dumber helmets brothers in the dug out with the bitterest kit man holding the jackets.

By the way the GB songbook is stolen by every other want to be arseholes.

CELTIC top of the league. We were very good.

  4. David17,

as Wits says personal circumstances can dictate how many games people go to,

plenty on here know i had a difficult year last year, going to Celtic games was not a high priority,

but since it interests you i have attended 5 games this season.

I don’t come on here to push a Board hating agenda, Lets just make that clear.

  6. David17,

Brendans press conference is posted a couple of times here,

that is 2 quotes from different parts of his reply,

at no point does he say what is reported there.

  7. Agendas lol.

Yeah we’re Celtic fans “with agendas.”

Nobody has ever been able to explain what those “agendas” are, or maybe they just don’t want to.

But like I said, tonight there’s no need to gild the lily, no need to make stuff up, no need to posture, no need to read between the lines. The manager has been clear. He couldn’t have been more clear if he tried. He actually used the words “We have got about a million wingers, we don’t need another one.”

Back in the summer, when he said similar about Arzani, when he was practically BEGGING the board to get him the players he wanted, myself and others warned that he was getting increasingly frustrated. Again, like now, we didn’t make it up, we weren’t imagining it, it was perfectly clear.

And people said then that we had “agendas.”

Nobody now seriously disputes that there was a significant problem during the summer. Most believe that the manager came very close to quitting, even going so far as to offer his resignation. Most accept that the matter was “resolved” by Dermot Desmond at a sit-down.

This has been reported in the media and confirmed by the manager.

We weren’t imagining things. We weren’t lying. We weren’t pursuing agendas. We want this team to be all it can be and for the manager to stay here for the next three years and beyond. We want what is best for Celtic.

There are some people who do not believe that, who will not believe that, who cannot believe that.

Tonight I am about as fed up as I can be with all this, with this unraveling, when our club should be on cruise control. There are people at Celtic Park who believe the universe revolves around them and they are responsible for what the manager has accomplished. They have no problem hoarding credit but they never want to take the blame.

I think our man Brendan is just about at the end of the line. This has all the hallmarks of a window where we’re in a holding pattern. The manager’s comments tonight suggest, at the very least, that he does not approve of the business thus far, and it’s not the first time this month that he’s hinted at not being in control of events.

He will continue to work miracles with what he has and I think we’ll do the Treble Treble … and certain people will feel entirely vindicated and imagine that success to be their own, but it belongs to him and to the players who he has made into men, better footballers than they probably ever thought they’d be.

He is the most important person at our club, but someone disagrees.

For the record, as some have pointed out, as needs to be pointed over and over again, and especially in light of these comments where the manager has said the £1.75 million fee that’s being spent is NOT being spent on HIS priorities, the biggest cheque we’ve written this year so far has been the CEO’s bonus cheque.

That, by the way, didn’t benefit the manager either.

    Thanks again for the update.

    Fake news , mate.

30 seconds between the first part of the quote and the second part.

  11. David17,

now that you know how many games i have attended,

can you explain how it is relevant to the question i asked.

  12. “Fake news!”

Quite simply the WORST, the most abysmal, phrase the 21st century has conjured up so far.

Intellectually lazy, a charlatans term, one that spares anyone the user any requirement at all to actually make a case of any sort, to put up a debate, to convince anyone of their view.

And it’s a phrase that’s become synonimous with the far-right and – and not for nothing – but autocratic regimes who’s best interests are served by branding everything incovenient in a way that avoids having to engage with fact, truth or even reality.

To see it used here is a new nadir, and that’s where I bow out for another few months.

  13. FWIW- I don’t think Brendan would leave us high and dry, maybe he should keep his own counsel sometimes. PS why has a Championship club not came in for Steve Clarke, after the job he has done in the last 18 months ? Just saying like….

  14. James Forrest,

the quote that was reproduced was never actually made,

does that not make it fake

    Authentication ?

You fail to mention Brendan`s comments about the support he has received from the Board and how much he enjoys his job or his hopes for the future at Celtic .

And no , I don`t have the sources because I can`t be bothered ferreting them out !

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Opinions dressed as facts again.

    Time for bed.

My team is top of the league with a 2.14 ppg.

Some rancid outfit (whose presence was terrifying some poor souls on here late last month) are punching their weight at 1.91.

Extrapolated out to the end of the 38 game season would see us finish 9 points ahead of them.

I asked last month and I’ll ask again.

Why are some of our fans scared of Sevco but not Kilmarnock?

    Good night and hail hail.

  17. David17,

    BOURNESOUPRECIPE on 24TH JANUARY 2019 12:51 AM

The speculation and the rumours are often harmless.

Reckless assertions that Brendan is unhappy are not.

Tonight we get the best resultS since the Aberdeen game.

And yet , its hissing down on our parade .

    Tims with hosepipes.

  22. So the manager was on the brink of resignation.

It must be true. After all

It was reported in the media and confirmed by the manager.

Well we all know the media’s agenda and their accuracy and agenda.

Where did Brendan ever say he tendered his resignation?

Just because “most believe it” doesn’t make it true.

No reading between the lines necessary to understand an anti board agenda.

Not fake news. Just wishful thinking with absolutely no first hand knowledge of boardroom or back room discussions.

  23. For me the best football all night was Weah’s goal.

A brilliant piece of vision and slide rule pass from young Henderson to guy with perfect timing and and ability to attack space then finish with aplomb by Weah.

A perfect goal on the modern football stage.

Celtic should be pulling out the stops to sign Henderson and giving him game time now.

  24. Sign the boy , loan him to Aberdeen , hibs or killie – make them stronger against Der hun and get him up to speed with Scottish fitbaw. like that model.

  25. CONEYBHOY

In ice hockey there is a phrase (All Swedish no Finish)

Basically it’s saying lots of pretty moves with no end product.

I think a lot of our play is exactly this so that’s why the fourth goal tonight had me excited.

A pretty perfectly executed decisive goal.

  26. It is possible to believe that Brendan was seriously pissed off this summer.

It is possible to believe he is for the off in Summer 2019, though it begs the question- why stay on at all beyond August 2018?

It is even possible to believe that PL is working to piss off Brendan and that PL wants, at worst, to be rid of Brendan, or, at best, to make sure he knows he is no. 2 in the Celtic hierarchy.

And it is equally possible to believe that these are the normal tensions and disagreements that happen between manager/coach and other more permanent club custodians in the course of managing a recruitment and selling policy.

The one thing that it is not possible to believe is that any of this is CLEAR or established fact.

Brendan has never said “I’m pissed off beyond repair” or “I’m definitely leaving” or “It’s that Peter Lawwell to blame” or “This club cannot and will not match my personal ambitions for it”.

Peter Lawwell has never said “I’m in charge and the coach has to work with whoever I choose to bring in”. He has never said “Brendan is getting too big for his boots and I have to assert some control over him”. He hasn’t even said “I am responsible for all our success and the manager has nothing to be proud of”.

So anyone believing any of these extreme positions, does so because their preconceived ideas fit in with the outcome they reach for too readily, whether that be Brendan Bad/Peter Good or vice versa. It’s all reading runes, reading between lines, reading body language and other inexact “interpretations”.

If either party wanted to make things CLEAR, then simple declarative sentences are readily available to state these emotions and positions clearly.

So, as a representative of that portion of the fans that has absolutely no inside knowledge, I am prepared to believe that Brendan burned his boats or lost trust in Summer 2018 and is working his notice under an obligation to say nothing untoward until the league race is over.

I am also prepared to believe that there was tension and angst but that it had been smoothed over but re-appeared again when we entered the current transfer window. Whether this angst will stiffen his resolve to leave or whether he will fall back in love with the task once the transfer window shuts, I have no idea at all.

In such circumstances, I will just want all parties to concentrate, as they have done since last summer, on making 2018/19 another successful season. Brendan will move on at some time or another. Just as any successful player will be tempted by a big bucks move to a big bucks league, so will successful managers in the SPFL. Brendan has done Swansea and had a tantalising taste of what he wants at Liverpool. I suspect, but can never know, that he won’t go back to a Swansea or even a Leicester but could be tempted by a genuine top 8 team in the EPL. In that way, he is no different than Kieran Tierney.

When this happens, we will probably never know how much was caused by Push factors from within CP and how much was due to Pull factors from Money, Prestige and unfinished business. Maybe Brendan fancies a new challenge in China, who knows, apart from him?

So, in circumstances where I cannot discern the truth and where I cannot change its direction even if I did know it, I refuse to embrace and try to share the angst around this issue. I choose to relish the here and now and our club’s continued success.

There will be time enough for the angst when we lose a league, and it is an inevitable and safe prediction that we will do so at some point.

Tonight was a good night at CP. Brendan’s work with the team has again given a lot of pleasure. I intend to keep enjoying the ride rather than lament that it will stop some time.

    Aff to ma kip now.

  27. Brendan will be flung or, he’ll jump under a bus someday soon, maybe before the window closes ? who knows.

But, the point of him leaving will be missed.

Brendan was recruited by the PLC board, to keep the stadium full, until the old firm games were once again enshrined back onto the fixture list, without Celtic PLC being hit in the pocket with 000’s of empty seats inside Celtic Park, that has been done!

Brendan was recruited to make Celtic supporters look the other way, as unpunished Sevco / Rangers came back into the top league, without having to pay back one penny from the £140 + million that was swindled from hmrc, specifically swindled, to cheat Celtic manager’s, player’s, and supporter’s out of 20 odd trophies, none of which will ever by stripped whilst, Celtic is run by a PLC board.

Ah told you this two and a half years ago, along with Neganon2 and others, and we were told that we were never Celtic supporters.

We were, but that was when it was Celtic FC.

    Good luck.

  28. In the name of dog!!!

A quick skim back through comments and there still appears to be some discord on the blog*.

Unbelievable after that result and performance tonight. Moving clear of our current nearest challengers whilst two of the others gained ground on them.

Right back… Right back… We need a right back!

Mika ‘PC’ Lustig – International, played at world Cup, knows club inside out, loves us gets us, provided great service for years. Great in the dressing room and with helping the youngsters. Can easily still do a job in the spl.

Christian Gamboa – International, played at world cup, never had a decent enough run of games, decent enough, certainly good enough for spl.

Anthony Ralston – fantastic young talent, strong, robust, needs experience at this level… And support… Wonder how he would ever get that? Anyone any ideas?

I would argue, that any of the above players would do a great / good / top 3 at worst job for any other side in the spl…. And lots would be mentioning, suggesting and wondering why we didn’t sign them.

I just love Celtic, love them. Always have and always will.

    ???Here we go…. 8 in a row… Here we go…. 8 in a row…. Here we go.. oh… 8 in a row… Here we go.. 8 in a row???

    ?☘️

*on the skim through comments discord, from some heavy hitters I must add.. This was what I read on the beeb.. Where once again the headline did not do justice. As always, I’ll reserve judgement until I see the press conference. No comments I skimmed on the blog mentioned the part about going on loan. Maybe I missed it – just sharing this as was fresh in the mind HH……

Shved is in his second spell with Karpaty Lviv in his homeland after a stint with Sevilla Atletico in Spain.

“I can’t say I know a great deal about him. We’ve got about a million wingers, we don’t need another,” Rodgers said.

“But what I have seen he will probably benefit the club in the future.

“It is something that has come to the club through circumstance and he has been watched. I think they will look to get the deal done on him and he will probably be out on loan.”

James ( I don’t go……. because of the board ) Forrest keeps his log in handy for occasions such as Celtic 4 St Mirren 0 ( he wasn’t there again today ) because he wants to shout in public about the twists between BR and the board just like he did last summer.
