    Borussia Monchengladbach were the team directly above us in the seedings and bottom seed in Pot 3. Looks like a shoot out for 3rd place and Europa League after Xmas.

     

     

    The draw will mean sell outs at CP and must surely tip the balance for any prospective signings. A huge marketplace for top talent.

     

     

    In practically any group taking points from top 2 teams was always going to be a stretch so let’s enjoy the games, go for another famous CP victory against a ‘top seed’ – and make sure we take at least 4 points from Borussia M.

     

     

    The sequence of fixtures will be interesting (Borussia at home first please) when they are released later this evening.

    Roberts CAN play against City. Courtois was on loan a year or 2 ago and UEFA rules meant he couldn’t be prevented from playing v his parent club.

    Being last out we had 100% chance of being in Barca group – if drawn first we would have has 12.5% only – up against it – however a great group to attract loans methinks.

    Time for the board to step up and really support Brendan.Don`t see why Paddy can`t play against City. I don`t think UEFA recognise agreements between clubs to prevent players playing against their parent club.

    Pity we don’t have Monaghan 1690 to monitor the hun sites and feed back on their poisonous comments. I always enjoyed reading their bitter and deluded comments.     A really tough draw but in all honesty, the main thing for us was to get to the Group stages. Anything else will be a bonus. If we can get one or two quality signings in before the close of the window then we can put up a decent showing and gain valuable experience. HH

    Now we must practice defending…5 at the back…get decent right back .. strong midfielder…Hammer a few Scots teams in the first half…then revert to our cl format…We need to practice for these games…If hapoel can keep the ball off of us then we will see none of it against these teams

    Just to temper expectations a little, let’s take a trip down memory lane to our last CL group stage campaign…

     

     

    0-2 v AC Milan (A)

     

    0-1 v Barcelona (H)

     

    2-1 v Ajax (H)

     

    0-1 v Ajax (A)

     

    0-3 v AC Milan (H)

     

    1-6 v Barcelona (A)

     

     

    And in case anyone thinks we had a dip in form towards the end of that campaign, our two games prior to the home mauling by Milan were a 4-1 victory away to Ross County and a 3-1 home win against Aberdeen. Then we played two domestic games between the last two CL fixtures, slaughtering Hearts 7-0 in the Cup and Motherwell 5-0 in the league, both away from home. So we were actually in quite a rich vein of form… just completely overwhelmed by two classy European giants!

     

     

    The games against Barca and Manchester City this season will be no less of a challenge, and Borussia will be no mugs.

     

     

    We should concentrate on playing to our own strengths rather than changing our game to try to deal with those of our opponents. We should play the away games in the same way as those at home (physically what is the difference, really?!). And above all we should wear the hoops in every match.

     

     

    Perhaps then we might just surprise a few people, ourselves included!

    Seriously … some massive games and a great chance for players to test themselves against some of the very best. Three great Celtic Park nights to look forward to.

    Toughest group possible but with a couple of new teams to play im sure everyone will enjoy that, the pressure was getting to the CL , now its about improving our home record which has been damaged recently in Europe, the players I hope play with less tension than Tuesday which if was hardly bearable for us imagine how they felt with the huge expectation and a 5.2 lead to take into the second leg.

     

    Teams who underestimate Celtic usually lose Barca wont dont know about the other two.

    Minimum £100 for three game package,I would expect.

     

     

    And probably upwards of £40 each for non-season ticket holders.

     

     

    Adding in the heated seat brigade,about £7m plus merchandising.

     

     

    The superstore will be doing a roaring trade,time for the club to pander to ALMORE and get a cafe in situ as well.

     

     

    Oh,btw,IIRC the Kerrydale Suite isn’t available those nights. Get the cafe now,wi a licence!

    What more do we want , dining at the top table , and we certainly have the best coming to town .

     

    No doubt we have it tough but at Celtic park we are capable of taking something . Now is the time to fill with quality the area,s we are sadly lacking . Don’t know whether to say over to you Brendan , or over to you peter . Either way we need strengthening ,
