Congratulations to Ronny Deila, his players and supporting cast on becoming Scottish champions, season 2014-15. The man from Norway has got his team playing flowing, attractive, football, he has improved players throughout the squad, and should be delighted with the shape of the club at the moment.
Congratulations too to the Celtic fans, who recognised the manager and team needed their support, which has been delivered solidly throughout the campaign.
I’m delighted for Aberdeen, who have matched Celtic toe-to-toe against the rest of the league. It has been a stunning season for a team with comparatively meagre resources. Motherwell were best of the rest for the last two seasons, but they were miles off the pace, and never reached the consistency of Aberdeen this season.
It’s four in a row for the third time in our history, matching Willie Maley’s team’s achievement in 1908 and Jock’s in 1969.
These are great times to be a Celtic fan, enjoy being champions!

lefty ,liked yir post earlier on the ole gullibilly’s
On the subject of great Celts goalies, for me – in my lifetime – it has to be “Faither”.
The man actually won the FA cup in 1952 and and 55 !
He won the Big Cup in 67 and in the same year beat the world champs on their own patch…
I later learned that he represented GB in the 48 Olympics (finishing 4th)!
From wiki:
“Simpson was small in stature for a goalkeeper, at just 5 feet 10 inches.
He compensated for this with an unorthodox style of shot-stopping, using his elbows and shoulders to block shots.
Simpson also had top-class foot movement and ball distribution skills.
In 2002, he was named in Celtic’s greatest ever team, ahead of John Thomson and Pat Bonner.”
I was priviledged to have seen him play on numerous games in the 60s.
When his name was on the team sheet, we were half way to a win already!!!
RIP Ronnie

Ronny’s Bhoys will be crowned champions on May 24. RT if you’ll be there to Party in Paradise http://eticketing.co.uk/celtic
I see a few calling for a loosening of the purse strings for the coming season. Is that what RD has a track record of, buying expensive players?
Hun skelper….

If you were to name one player as the Most Improved this season, comparing the first month to the last, who would it be?
Big Nir Biton for me.

Tim Malone will tell. 19.00.
Great post. That’s the thing with the vast majority of our players they all have room for plenty of improvement.
John Collins today was talking about Leigh and saying they have been working on his heading and his ability to hold the ball up as that is two areas he needs to improve on. Stefan for me has to learn how to play an easy pass and to keep his shape better. Too often he gives possession away when there is another easier option available.
——–
That’s where I disagree. Trying the difficult pass is exactly why we are succeeding in breaking down 11 man defences. The round the corner pass, or hard through the middle is very effective and great to watch (Denayers pass to Johanssen in the lead up to Broonies goal is a prime example). Same with the back heels and flicks… They don’t always work. But they don’t have to.
Playing the easy pass, especially sideways or backwards, slows us down and is boring. Exactly my gripe with Neil Lennon’s teams. Too safe.
Invariably if the difficult pass concedes possession we win it back quick smart.
I’m happy for it continue.

I recognise the point you make, however, Celtic must always strive
To be better. For me that’s competing in the champions league, not merely qualifying for it.
To do so means we must buy better players to supplement our mediocre squad.
It’s worth noting Ronny has a mediocre squad playing better football.

I take it you are not a Peter Lawell fan ? Kpi’s ? Is that not the way the world works these days ? Peter for me does his job, my only gripe is the backing of the rank and file Celtic supporters but just my opinion if you think Mr Lawell is holding us back, again just my opinion but think you are typing rubbish, but it’s a blog and I can assure you I type more rubbish than most so it’s not a dig
Stan and Stefan.
I agree to a point if you are talking about SPFL teams.
However my post was talking about progressing, give the ball away against a good team in Europe and you won’t get it back, they will destroy you. Stefan has to learn this to become a better player. He is nowhere near the finished article.
Driving home from Mass earlier I heard à song come on the radio that would have resonated with any hun listener a few years back:
There Goes My First Love by The Drifters.
Sang it lustily all the way home!
That should have read ‘”the lack of backing of the rank and file Celtic supporter” I told you I type rubbish
Take care &I Hail Hail

I actually saw Artur Boruc playing this season – for Bournemouth away to Brentford.
The game was like watching Artur’s Celtic career in a microcosm – made a horrific mistake to concede against a Brentford 25 yard free kick – and then for the latter period of the second half was absolutely brilliant, almost as though he was playing Brentford on his own.
Celtic have certainly had a few decent keepers in recent years, having had a relatively poor crop between Ronny Simpson and Artur Boruc.
Just before I bow out, things to do. Qualification for the CL group stages next season has a guarantee of, a minimum, £30m. If we don’t qualify through lack of funds, a disaster will follow. PL must get the investment correct, Ronny must get his targets correct then we will see how much this board backs their mhan. Not holding my breath, but living in hope. Wit the hell, I still luuuuuuv Celtic. KTF the lot of ye, me included. Lol. Night
