Concerns for 4 of 6 Celts in Scotland squad

229

I totally understand what it means to Scotland players of this generation to be selected for the Euros next month.  Few of them are old enough to remember the last time we qualified for a major tournament, for some, it will be their last chance.

Still, Celtic have so much business to do on the park in July and August, with legs that need to keep running until May.  I have concerns for Callum McGregor, James Forrest and David Turnbull, each of whom I expect to be first choice for Celtic next season.  Greg Taylor may fall into that category too, though I expect Ryan Christie to continue to resist contract offers and leave.

Even if uncapped David Turnbull does not feature in the tournament, he will go through the same intense training load as the rest of the squad.  Greg Taylor has Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson to contend with, so might not see too much game time.

I keep reading about this Jack Hendry character who is ripping it up in Belgium, also in the Scotland squad.  With central defender numbers low and Christopher Jullien out until October, Jack is likely to see a bit of squad action in the early weeks of the season.  His Scotland involvement will do him no harm.

Would police not be asking for the public to contact them if they’d seen anything suspicious in the vicinity?

And would that not require them to say where the vicinity was?

    Good one Pablo.

I’ve been meaning to get this off my chest for weeks (as if that really matters to anyone) and your leader reminded me.

Only 2 of 6 are problematic for me.

James needs training and, possibly games – fine.

Perhaps unfairly I’ve given up on Ryan for next season.

I’m indifferent to what Greg can bring to the first team next season.

    Even more so Jack H.

Calum McGregor needs a rest. Period. Burnt out. Big problem

    Even more so David Turnbull.

The young boy had a year out with a career threatening knee injury then was struck down with Covid-19.

His performance second half of the season dropped off as a result.

He needs a rest then a preseason.

IMHO it’s scandalous he has been pulled into this squad.

Plenty of time for him to forge an international career.

Instead of South Christie should go North…………he’s better than Aberdeen but it would be good for him and us…….

    —-

I think Christie and his father think he’s better than us, never mind Aberdeen. I also think that is an attitude which has been barely concealed for several months, and has rather cooled his bond with the support.

I look forward to noting his career at EPL2 playoff fodder

  4. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

BTW – isn’t the wee boy from Sevco banned because of Covid-19 breaches?

  5. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Bankie, it’s money he’s after. He’s not going to leave Celtic for another Scottish team.

If he can’t get fixed up this summer with a mid-table Championship club (I’ll be dumbfounded if an EPL team signs him), he’ll run down his contract looking for a pre-contract in January or leaving for free.

Hopefully the new CEO will be wise to this and offload him at the earliest opportunity.

I’ll be completely dismayed if he’s still at Celtic next season.

TIMGREEN – agree – and said so yesterday – about identifying the street name which all but ensures PL’s family prob cant ever return without a major security installation. It unnecessarily marks the spot.

As for identifying specific pockets of Thorntonhall, it’s not exactly a Gotham City like metropolis.

Re Jack coming back…I wonder if this expected move has been sanctioned by Howe, Kennedy, Peter or Dom?

Months back, the prevalent understanding was that his loan club now had first dibs on him.

When were the two occasions you watched Celtic at West Ham?

    ———

As most on here know, like Peter Lawwell, I don’t usually respond to ‘dog-whistle’ approaches…….however as you appear to be my loyal fan and seem to take such a close & forensic interest in all I post, I offer, on this occasion only, a full answer to your repeated, and quite frankly, tedious question.

I have family in London and in days gone-by was able to take advantage of their hospitality to see lots of games in the capital, not just times when Celtic visited.

I should have included Arsenal (×2) & West Ham (x1) – however at my great age sometimes the memories get clouded.

If you respond any of my posts in a reasonable way – even it is to disagree completely and offer another view, I will be pleased to answer in a similar fashion.

By the way, I have been to many important Celtic games all over Europe, including Lisbon, Milan & Sevillle….but don’t ask me to tell you my hotel room number on each occasion….. please!!!🤪.

I don’t comment much on Res 12, simply because I do not have all the facts. I don’t doubt the intentions of those who, even at this late stage, are still pushing for redress. Auldheid is a prime example – I have respect for him and he has a encyclopedic catalogue of the facts…as he sees them.

    ===================

The facts that I see are all laid out at http://www.res12.uk

The archive was created over 2 years ago and has been updated as events unfold.

It is there and has been there for everyone to make of the facts as THEY see them.

No one has disputed what is there or the meaning put to them, disputes that would offer an alternative view that would change the facts as I see them.

So how about you and others spend the next couple of days reading the archive and let us know your interpretation of the facts.

In respect of the traumatic effect on PL as result of the fire bombing at his residence I would remind folk that as a result of my work on Res12 I was identified by the Dark side as someone to be taken care of and my details published on social media. I complained to the police and the material that put me at risk was removed , so I know the feeling about being under threat and it must be a lot worse when the threat actually materialises and I wish neither the threat or it happening on anyone.

However what is not on the archive because challenging principles is my game, not bad naming others for the sake of it, is a chain of e mails between myself and PL in June and July 2013 after Charlotte Fakeovers started to leak stuff, some of which referred to the UEFA Licensing process in 2011 that suggested dishonesty in the submissions by RFC. Having discussed the lack of professionalism with PL at a meeting in May 2013 where I was told a Dougie Dougie moment was required to bring about reform I contacted PL about the Charlotte Fakeover stuff relating to the UEFA Licensing in 2011 and was asked he be kept in the loop which I did.

However that material had no affect on Celtic’s response to Res12 that Canalamar instigated for the 2013 AGM (where Celtic thought it unnecessary having had assurances from SFA all was in order) although the material’s existence played a role in the adjournment of Res12 and subsequent involvement of the requisitioners, the consequence of which were personal threats from the Dark Side as a result of pursuing a cause they thought to be just and which Celtic were behind because of what was said at the May 2013 meeting.

However that is just the facts as I see them so why don’t you and others who are using another wrong as a reason a right should not be addressed, make yourself aware of all the “facts” on http://www.res12.uk and come up with what they tell you?

A perfectly reasonable question I felt.

In response to which you blustered, played to the gallery and, somewhere along the way, acknowledged you don’t know the difference between making two visits to Arsenal or two to West Ham.

Thanks. I thought I was on this blog and Ive copied over when I realised!

What is going on here is burial of the truth and without the truth there can be no reconciliation.

I despair at times at a world that losing the truth has created and for what?

  16. Regarding our players at the Euros, James has missed most of the season, so I don’t think it’s a big issue. Similar for David, as he’s only played during the second half of the season. As for Calumn, yes he has played a lot but did have an extended break with the covid enforced end of last season. I like the effort wee Greg puts into his game but he should not be our first choice left back.

  17. It looks likely we’ll lose OE to the Olympics as well.

We’re due some luck, let’s hope it comes all at once this summer.

I’m watching what’s going on over at their bit and can’t help but think that there has to be some sort of drop in intensity levels after such a huge achievement (apparently)

  18. Forgive me, bit a wee/ change of Tack…actually is a BIG change of Tack LOL…

I have just watched the Film ” SHANE” yet again for maybe the 100th time ?

Great Film… excellent Cast…especially Jack Palance and Alan Ladd.

As SHANE shoots the Bad Guy who is the last of Three that he shoots in the Saloon, the said Bad Guy fires a rifle shot at SHANE as he ( Shane) ducks down at the Bar.

Shane reacts ever so slightly ( He Flinches for a milli second) as his Pistol shot guns the Baddie down from the first floor landing.

As he leaves the Bar, He comes across little ” Joey” the wee boy in the Film, who passes comment on Shane ” being “Hit” ?

Shane shrugs it off, and after a few wise words gets on his Horse and rides out into the Moon Light.

As Shane rides out, the Camera switches from Shanes ” Front” to his “Back”….and it appears to show Shane holding out his Left arm, and not the Reins.

The last Film shot is from the rear of Shane holding out his arm, and being slightly ” SLUMPED” on his Horse, as he rides away..The Hero !

However , NO one has ever been able to tell me IF Shane ” Makes It”…or IF He Dies from that Gun shot wound ?

Perhaps ” The Mystery” of what happened to Shane has died along with those involved in the Script and making of the Film ?

Sadly the wee boy in the Film died aged just ” 30″, in a car crash. His name was Brandon De Wilde.

Alan Ladd, also sadly died far too young.

  19. From what I have read over the years from the RES 12 Bhoys…my heart goes out to them, and always will.

I too have been most unhappy in Peter Lawwells role etc, and the ” Silence etc” from those in charge at Celtic FC over many years.

At this time, my Heart also goes out to Peter and his family, none of whom deserved this to happen to them.

Hopefully the ” Culprit(s) “, will be caught very quickly and charged with Attempted Murder, and NOT some other ” Lesser Charge” ?

But in any event, whatever the Charge(s), it will be small comfort to Peter and his family and friends ?

Steven Gerrard and Rangers players actions branded ‘disgraceful’ by police during St Mirren celebrations ( March 6th 2021)

Rangers fans gathered outside Ibrox Stadium on March 6 before and after the St Mirren league game.

The statement also goes on to state that Rangers FC had given assurances to the Authorities that ” Their staff would comply with Covid rules and NOT engage with fans Blah Blah”…or words to that effect ?

I didnt wish to copy and paste the whole article.

Lets not also forget that it was these same Huns including their fans who in 2016 and being beaten in the Scottish Cup Final, and who Rioted with Hibs fans on the Pitch…and DISMISSED any ” Explanation of Hibs fans on the Pitch”, as they had waited 114 Years to lift the Cup, so the Hibs fans were naturally over exuberhant etc ?
