ANGE POSTECOGLOU will not get the opportunity to defend the first trophy he won as Celtic manager, the Premier Sports League Cup.

Instead, the Hoops gaffer is aiming to add the silverware under its rebranded name of Viaplay.

The Nordic company have acquired Premier Sports and have taken over the sponsorship of the competition which the Parkhead men lifted following two goals from Kyogo Furuhashi in a 2-1 triumph over Hibs in December last year.

Postecoglou’s men will play in the renamed tournament when they face Kilmarnock in the semi-final at Hampden on Saturday January 14 with a 5.30pm start.

In its guise as the Premier Sports League Cup, the holders kicked off their defence of the trophy with a 4-1 victory over Ross County in Dingwall at the end of August when Callum McGregor, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest were on target.

And they booked their place in the last four against Derek McInnes’ Ayrshire outfit when they romped to a 4-0 success over Motherwell at Fir Park last month with Liel Abada (2), Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi sharing the goals.

Aberdeen and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Ibrox club will contest the other semi the day after the Hoops have been in action.

The Final is due at the national stadium on Sunday February 26.
