Dangers ahead, unimaginable mess and new euphemism

988

I’m still meeting people who haven’t noticed.  Hibernian are on an outstanding run of form, having won their last three games and undefeated in six.  The last reversal they had was at Celtic Park the first weekend in April.  On Sunday we’re playing the team with the best recent form in Scotland; the warning signs are painted in large green font.

They are dangerous up front, Leigh Griffiths has scored four goals more than any Celtic player, including several stunners.

The weight of the world rested on Hibs’ shoulders at last season’s Scottish Cup final, when the stage was set for a century of pain to be wiped away by defeating their greatest rivals.  It was too much.  Now they take the field unburdened and vastly more dangerous than St Mirren, Hearts or Kilmarnock were when they overcame Celtic at Hampden recently.

Odds on Hibs are very generous.

I caught some chat online last night.  “Blackmail”, “extortion”, “imprisonment”, “getting rid of the problem”, “a catastrophe of an intensity that you…. clearly do not appear to understand”, “fraudulent”, “once the genie is out it will have a life of its own”.

What an unimaginable mess.

I think “Been an admirer of your recent work” is bound to become a euphemism in years to come for when something that should never have been said or written slips out.  This is a small glimpse into how the whole thing happened.

Fantastic Q&A with Willie Wallace this morning, thanks to Willie and Winning Captains.  Willie’s recollections of our great times are irresistible.  Reading the book as it came together was a joy.  You’ll love it.

Remember you can start Cup Final weekend by meeting Willie at a book signing at Waterstons’ on Sauchiehall St, tomorrow – 25th May, 46 years on from the day – from 2pm until 4pm.  If you can’t make it you can order a signed copy below.

I’m with you there, they’ve changed. I remember meeting hibs fans 20 years ago and they were proud to say they were hibees, now they sneer as if we’re the same as the others. Still, I respect the club and know we are up against it Sunday. Good luck with the holding of the drink . Any hints on how to convince the wife agapanthus looks like shi*e

I didn’t get to Seville, I had more important things to do, but I did get to see the game with a few guys in my house. At the end of the game I had tears in my eyes; they were not a product of regret… they were a product of bursting pride and we both know the score. The whole world knew the score and the whole world knows now, because of then, what flows in our veins. A love of our club and our culture and provocation will have to walk a long road before it causes us to rise against our inherent love of love.

The last final I was at, at Hampden was when the Huns won 3 – 2 (Bobo scored) I left Hampden and went to Heraghty’s and we sang and sang and sang. After all… we won the league. For me I love winning the League, I love it. I love it.

Domestic cups, I really am not too bothered about but that is just me, and the Huns winning a cup, any cup, has never made me hide under the blankets. Losing the league to them… now that is another matter.

For the record… I hope Celtic win on Sunday and I hope those much maligned players of yore – Broonie and Sammi – both get a game, and both get mentioned in despatches too.

  4. Dear Mr Stocker

    Rangers International Football Club PLC

I refer to your letters to Aidan Earley and Douglas Ware regarding the investigation you are conducting into Craig Whyte’s dealings with the Rangers Football Club Limited and relatedmatters. They have asked that I write to you on their behalf.I understand that Mr Earley has indicated to you that a letter before claim would be issued on behalf of him, Mr Whyte and Sevco 5088 Limited by the end of this week and that this letter would contain information on matters central to your investigation. I can confirm that we are in the course of preparing such a letter, but that, unfortunately, we do not anticipate that it will be issued until 24th May at the earliest (we anticipate settling the final form with senior counselduring the course of next week). I can also confirm that the letter will deal with matters which would in our view go to the crux of the subject matter of your investigation and will be accompanied by evidence that we would anticipate would assist you greatly in your task athand. You might like to consider, therefore, postponing the conclusion of your investigation until that letter has been issued. Mr Earley and Mr Ware will be willing to consider providing further information and evidence to you once you have had time to consider the letter before claim and the accompanying evidence…

  6. Wow Charlotte has a copy of letter sent to Investigators just last week.Charlotte has to be getting “her” stuff direct from Craigy, & up to date stuff at that. Craigy has obviously been fighting a public internet campaign in a bid to force a settlement. It doesn’t look like he is going to get one so it appears the only route available to him is the legal action one. Come on Craigy, do it, win or lose you will tie everyone up in knots for a couple of years.

  11. The Scottish Cup is Sevcos European Cup, they are signing players beyond their means to try and win the SC, sound familar, their old club went dead as a dodo trying to emulate our success and they will do the same again, signing four players from the SPL on SPL wages to win the Second, I repeat Second division and try and have a run at the Cup, I guess the words lessons and learning just don’t exist in the peepuls vocabulary…

    Sevco will stagger on regardless.

As many others have opined on here.

The same mentality and approach to problem recognition that sent them into their downward spiral will continue to blight their world.

At no single point has there been any utterance, action, behavior of any kind from anyone involved that would suggest that they actually get it, at all.

With the implicit or tacit approval of the governing bodies of the sport in Scotland, they believe that they are untouchable & essential, culturally & financially in Scotland.

Death by a thousand cuts indeed.

On the court case involving the two nuns from yesterday.

If a police officer had a publicly acknowledged and barely disguised antipathy towards

Islam, and a complaint of abuse was leveled at an Imam, would Strathclyde Police/Police Scotland be happy to allocate that investigation to the same officer?

With any confidence that an impartial & transparent investigation would result?

Would the Muslim community in Scotland feel reassured by the appointment of this officer to the investigation?

Would those purporting to lead the Scottish Government sit on their thumbs as this unfolded?

Would the Westminster “leaders” allow the affair to drift away from them and not feel compelled to intervene?

Would a competent defence solicitor ensure that that the obvious prejudices of the investigating officer formed part of their strategy to represent their clients?

Cultural & institutional discrimination – writ large.

That would be the main criticism that would justifiably be levelled.

Independent investigations, Independent enquiries, independent reviews.

    Aye that’ll be right.

    IMHO

Green & Ahmed got sevco that much by the short & curlies that they are prepared to play ball at any cost and quickly before CG & IA pull the big house to the ground,

CG to sell to D King.

The establishment Know this and rather than see the big hoose shut are prepared to turn a blind eye knowing full well what has gone on.

I jest of course but I feel they can do whatever the hell they like and with zero governance from the SFA, what’s to stop them.

UEFA would have to agree that the change of company structure was not to avoid tax for the year non continuation of association membership as UEFA define it rule to be exceptionally laid aside.

SFA would have to make a well founded case. If both SFA and UEFA agree to exception they are condoning insolvency as a means of tax avoidance.

In todays climate I cannot see it being allowed.
