Dangers ahead, unimaginable mess and new euphemism

988

I’m still meeting people who haven’t noticed.  Hibernian are on an outstanding run of form, having won their last three games and undefeated in six.  The last reversal they had was at Celtic Park the first weekend in April.  On Sunday we’re playing the team with the best recent form in Scotland; the warning signs are painted in large green font.

They are dangerous up front, Leigh Griffiths has scored four goals more than any Celtic player, including several stunners.

The weight of the world rested on Hibs’ shoulders at last season’s Scottish Cup final, when the stage was set for a century of pain to be wiped away by defeating their greatest rivals.  It was too much.  Now they take the field unburdened and vastly more dangerous than St Mirren, Hearts or Kilmarnock were when they overcame Celtic at Hampden recently.

Odds on Hibs are very generous.

I caught some chat online last night.  “Blackmail”, “extortion”, “imprisonment”, “getting rid of the problem”, “a catastrophe of an intensity that you…. clearly do not appear to understand”, “fraudulent”, “once the genie is out it will have a life of its own”.

What an unimaginable mess.

I think “Been an admirer of your recent work” is bound to become a euphemism in years to come for when something that should never have been said or written slips out.  This is a small glimpse into how the whole thing happened.

Fantastic Q&A with Willie Wallace this morning, thanks to Willie and Winning Captains.  Willie’s recollections of our great times are irresistible.  Reading the book as it came together was a joy.  You’ll love it.

Remember you can start Cup Final weekend by meeting Willie at a book signing at Waterstons’ on Sauchiehall St, tomorrow – 25th May, 46 years on from the day – from 2pm until 4pm.  If you can’t make it you can order a signed copy below.

I agree that we do not have a right to win every Trophy. However, I will be gutted if we do not win as will may thousands of others. I cannot be happy for Hibs or any opposition that beat us to any Trophy, I will and would only be disappointed.

said I would repost later, was hoping some of FAC could take this up as we didn’t want another list, but new it was bull Chief Constable also said 200/300 protestors taking up full road & pavements?

just received from Siobhan McMahon MSP a police account re green brigade complaints.

In total there have bee 72 members of the public who have made complaints either directly to the police or via their MPs, MSPs & local councillors in relation to concerns they have about policing this incident. these concerns vary from complaints about police ‘heavy handedness’ to issues about wasting tax payers money. In the very large majority of cases the complaints have been made are generic & relate to unspecified allegations of misconduct against unspecified officers, mostly ref to video footage seen on TV or on social media sites. Of these34 have refused to engage with police beyond their initial email despite a number of attempts to contact them & 5 have withdrawn their complaint. Of the 33 people who have complained few were actually present at the incident & correspondence has come from all over Scotland & as far afield as the very South of England & even Cyprus. Many of these people are not making specific complaints & merely wish to register their disapproval at alleged treatment of Celtic fans.

I can assure you no one has even attempted to get in touch with me & would be surprised if this wasn’t the case for majority of people who have registered complaints, I would be very surprised if the number of complaints were any where near as few as he has stated? 7. Radio Scotland are announcing the deady bears are making signings. I thought they weren’t allowed to sign anyone til September, by which time I hope and pray they are the dead deady bears.

  8. Came across this amusing paragraph in a Guardian article by Barney Ronay:

…………….all geared towards the rare spectacle of the trademark XXX goal scramble, a battlefield scene of tumbling bodies, butchered Orcs, air-hoof clearances, shrieks, roars, and the bundling in of the ball via some heroically extended earlobe, all set to a rising tide of delayed close-range hysteria.

    Anyone guess the team? :-)

  9. Celts,

    Re the KANO 125 tee-total-athon:

First of all many thanks to those who have already donated to either Kitalba in Australia, Sannabhoy or myself. For those who don’t know, the Kano 125 is a group of CQN’ers who decided to go tee total for 125 days whilst putting away £1 per day, the idea was to gather the money and present it to the Celtic 1254125 charity in the name of Martin Kane (Kano) in Perth Australia, the 125 days ended on the 5th May and before I go any further I’ll let Kitalba who’s idea it was, say a few words:

Kano got sick one night, very sick. If it was not for so many Celtic Supporters, from so many places, then Kano would be an ornament in a sterile hospital room. That is not nice because Kano still breathes and he still thinks and he is still a Celtic Supporter to his very core.

A lot of money, by a lot of people, was raised to take Kano home. He can’t ever balance the books, but he’d love to.

None of us gets more than one go on the roundabout of life.

Celtic is celebrating their 125th Birthday and indelibly stamping it into their history by encouraging all to embrace the simple ethos of the clubs founding… let’s try and help those who just don’t have more than the air that they breathe.

A lot of Celtic Supporters are doing a lot of different things to raise money for to help those less fortunate than ourselves. To a lot of people that is no big deal.

I’m determined to help Kano pay back the kindness shown to him by the Celtic Support by supporting my club to help unfortunates. No big deal.

There are some from here who have said they will help me to help Kano to help Celtic to help others.

I will give up the bevie for 125 days and I give up posting on here for 125 days as of the 1st Jan. No big deal really, Kano has done both for the best part of four years.

I ‘m going to put a wee bit aside for each day that I don’t drink or post and forward it to Celtic to hopefully fill a belly that needs a feed or to make an unfortunate hope where only darkness is their dawn.(but maybe I can have St. Pat’s day off so I can share a day with some good Tims)

I’ve only one life and when I’m gone I will soon be forgotten, but if I’ve ever managed to feed one hungry person, if only for one day, then my life was worth something.

No big deal to me or you but the person I fed, he/she will never know where the food came from and they won’t ever be visiting my grave to put some pretty flowers at the base of a head-stone, they’ll be too busy worrying about tomorrow.

I can live with that and like Kano, once I’m gone, I’ll know that I never changed the world, hardly left a mark, but still I took to Celtic and I did something to try and ease the pain of others… sort of the Celtic way.

    *****************

    Nice post Kit,

To continue then, Kitalba has asked that I coordinate the monies and make one payment on everyones behalf to the Celtic 1254125, Paul67 has already supplied me with a name and I’ve been in contact with them.

The Kano Foundation have very kindly accepted a request to use their expertise and set up, to collect the monies into one central area.

Can I ask therefore, that all who took part in the Kano 125, and anyone else who committed to donate or now wish to donate, send their donations into the Kano Foundation via their website, its most important that you include “KANO 1254125” as a reference when making the payment so that all donations can be correctly accounted for.

Also you can pay at ANY bank using the following details:

    Account: The Kano Foundation

    Sort Code: 30 13 01

    Account Number: 00989961

Can someone please repost for the late night session,Aussietims/ moonhowlers and I’ll do the early risers :¬)

Sorry for the long post but it’s for our friend Martin Kane in Australia, we should never forget him, he needs our love.

Mate, getting beat is part of life, it is character building too. As I posted on here eight years ago… it is not your aptitude that determines your altitude… it is your attitude.

Tell me, had we had won in Seville do you think we would have won a single ounce more glory for our club, our reputation, and our ethos, as opposed the result we received and celebrated as only the Celtic Family – to date – can, and have?

is this the appeal I tried to donate to last week? and if so can I use my paypal account on the site?

  14. Actually, I am happy that Daly has signed for them. I presume their finances have dictated matters but they have signed a citizen of the Republic of Ireland. It is a start. It won’t help in their selling of season books, if their signing of that wee nyaff Johnson is anything to go by. I hope Daly himself can cope with the utter hatred that will be directed at him.

The right attitude is key in all things and so it is in football. It is no coincidence that the improved attitude shown in the last two games has come at the same time as Scott Brown has returned.

Whatever Browns technical failings, he has attitude in abundance.

  16. Auldheid

Brown galvanises our team ..he’s a winner …I’m glad he’s playing on Sunday

  17. How anyone can approach getting beat on Sunday as anything other than too awful to even contemplate baffles me. I have endured too many defeats to ever accept it with equanimity. (Some of them weren’t even down to honest mistakes.) Just win, Celtic. Otherwise I won’t be sleeping too well on Sunday night.

  18. I wonder how Ally is getting on at the white water rafting. Has he ever seen Deliverance I wonder?

He certainly has the look of Ned Beatty about him.

YOUNG Scott has grown into the job as Capitano of Celtic. He is a quality fitba player as well IMO, he gives his all every single game, what more can anyone ask?

meant to also add – when Thistle thrashed us at Hampden, I was happy for them and I never talked to a single Celtic Supporter who begrudged them their wee moment in the sun.

I don’t Support Celtic so I can boast about the number of trophies we’ve won, (I don’t think bragging is your game either), neither have a problem with winning every trophy we contest.

I just don’t mind medals being spread about a wee bit. It’s good for the national interest in the game.

I am confused some would say that is my normal state so then I am even more confused The Rangers sign Bell from Kilmarnock I would assume they are paying him more than Killie offerred him ? they are signing Law from Motherwell and I assume paying him more than Well offerred him ? they are signing Daly from Dundee Utd. and I assume they paying him more than Utd.were offerring him ? and they are suppossed to be signing a South American ? I keep reading on CQN that they are loseing a million a month and they will run out of money and be liquidated and yet there is no sign of it coming from Ibrokes somone obviously has the situation worked out correctly but who is it ? H.H.

  22. The Rangers have done in their first year what RFC didn’t do in 139 years, so well done them!
