Dangers ahead, unimaginable mess and new euphemism

988

I’m still meeting people who haven’t noticed.  Hibernian are on an outstanding run of form, having won their last three games and undefeated in six.  The last reversal they had was at Celtic Park the first weekend in April.  On Sunday we’re playing the team with the best recent form in Scotland; the warning signs are painted in large green font.

They are dangerous up front, Leigh Griffiths has scored four goals more than any Celtic player, including several stunners.

The weight of the world rested on Hibs’ shoulders at last season’s Scottish Cup final, when the stage was set for a century of pain to be wiped away by defeating their greatest rivals.  It was too much.  Now they take the field unburdened and vastly more dangerous than St Mirren, Hearts or Kilmarnock were when they overcame Celtic at Hampden recently.

Odds on Hibs are very generous.

I caught some chat online last night.  “Blackmail”, “extortion”, “imprisonment”, “getting rid of the problem”, “a catastrophe of an intensity that you…. clearly do not appear to understand”, “fraudulent”, “once the genie is out it will have a life of its own”.

What an unimaginable mess.

I think “Been an admirer of your recent work” is bound to become a euphemism in years to come for when something that should never have been said or written slips out.  This is a small glimpse into how the whole thing happened.

Fantastic Q&A with Willie Wallace this morning, thanks to Willie and Winning Captains.  Willie’s recollections of our great times are irresistible.  Reading the book as it came together was a joy.  You’ll love it.

Remember you can start Cup Final weekend by meeting Willie at a book signing at Waterstons’ on Sauchiehall St, tomorrow – 25th May, 46 years on from the day – from 2pm until 4pm.  If you can’t make it you can order a signed copy below.

Guy who runs the site/ campaign is a Gooner and was priced out of the Emirates after having a ST for 20 years. He believes that Away Fans should not be asked to fork out extravagant prices for tickets on top of travelling costs – given TV dictates times of KO and is responsible for inflated player wages.

Would be nice if our Bhoys were paying £20max when travelling to away games!

No excuse for pitch not to be in mint condition, they usually leave grass too long to stop our passing.Start the game high tempo, defend from the front they will concede the ball high up the park.Slick one touch passing .

I think another reason we will need to be at our best to win on Sunday is the official behind the goal (Madden). I think history will be made by the MIB behind the goal as the first MIB behind a goal to ever have any involvement or influence in a game. The Ventriloquist (Collum) will be wired up to the dummy (Madden) and ,if they can do us, they will.

  13. I do not care what any one say’s this Hibs team should not stand a chance against against us we should blow them away, I know upsets can happen, but an upset on Sunday as far I am am concerned is not on, Tic play to there best it should be over by Half time, you have that attitude you win, any 11 Lennon puts on should be more than good enough to send this mob back to the east coast, HH.

  21. Well Paul67 warns of troubles ahead.

Like most, I think we’ll be too good for the Hibees.

However we have had our card marked by our host on a few occasions and he is seldom wrong and it’s often ended in tears.

That said with a Legend like Willie Wallace in town predicting a win for the Celts I’ll go with that.

Got all the ingredients for a cracking match and if it’s half as good as the semi finals it will be a Classic!

You have been beating this drum for a while now.

If the attitude is right on Sunday, there is only one name on the Cup.

The last 2 games suggest we are going to Win in style. God is wonderful and may indeed put a perceived spanner in the works.

As Paul67 said a while ago the whole structure of Celtic is approaching tip top shape, I witnessed how good the under 13s were last Sunday. WOW, it was amazing watching kids play that well so effortlessly.

The future is looking so Good for Celtic.

    2 questions spring to mind.

    1. Will they last long enough for him to ever play a game.

    2. Will he be the only Law man to set foot in the stadium John Brown played for.

  25. oldtim67

Yes we will have books at the golf – Willie will sign them there too and Paul is in charge of the cash so don’t be getting him drunk.

An re-invigorated and international call-up free Kris Commons to outshine the “on loan” player from Wolves.

The Q & A with Willie Wallace this morning was magic. I casually read back the end of the previous article/posts and couldn’t scan read the pages as normal. I was riveted to the thread. The Qs were great/funny and the answers were honest/funny.

Hats off to Winning Captains and anyone else who helped make it happen.

Have to say I couldn’t get my head round the notion of who would I prefer Celtic to lose a cup final to. (sorry preposition there)

Yes, if Hibs are playing Hearts I would prefer Hearts to lose, etc but to prefer which team Celtic should lose a game to, never mind a final, was a challenge.

    I failed that challenge.

However, after a game, if we have played as well as we can, and the other team played better, and the officials were fair, then I can eventually accept defeat in any game.

“What the hair do we care”.

Looking forward to getting the book in the mail. Appetite duly whetted.
