Dear Mrs Budge

254

Tynecastle has been a source of intolerant abuse for decades.  Visitors, including the Celtic support, have endured the most offensive behaviour imaginable.  This is ongoing and culminated in our manager being assaulted in his technical area recently.

It is the easiest thing in the world to throw abuse at others while being blind to your own fans’ behaviour.  It is merely adequate to criticise your own while pointing out the errors of others, for example – Celtic fans who vandalise are knuckle-dragging idiots – it’s that easy.

We await your apology public to Anthony Stokes for the sectarian abuse he received at your stadium.

My hunch is that you’ll body-swerve this one, that you don’t know sectarian abuse from public comments the Scottish authorities have made illegal in order to “equalise” the offenders, and this intervention will encourage the galleries of intolerance at Tynecastle.

Signing event in Stirling

Joe Miller will be at Waterstones in Stirling tomorrow (Thurs) from 5pm to sign copies of Caesar and the Assassin, Billy McNeill and Davie Hay’s account of managing Celtic from 1978 to 1991, told in their own words to Alex Gordon.

Joe is a great character who worked under McNeill, Hay and Alex Ferguson, and now heads the Celtic Former Players Association.  If you’re in the Stirling area, get along and bring your camera.

The 2015 CQN Annual is through design and ready to ship next week. You can pre-order yours now.

  1. FFin’ Proceeds of Crime:

    “Proceeds of crime

With everything that has been going on recently with Whyte and co ending up in court it got me wondering if in future, should the court find them guilty and if there is evidence that suggests Green and co were involved, could the club be seized by the courts as it would technically have ended up in the hands of the current owners because of a crime being committed?

If this did happen could it then be purchased by Dave King or Brian kennedy from the courts without any money ending up in the hands of the Easdales or Ashley?”

    ——

    “I’ve thought about this also.”

    ——

“Well it is one thing they can do as you see every day they are cracking down on freudsters but not catching these ones at our club quick anuff ! Well i think the courtd could do that then at least dk or bk could then put the money in” [Bad yins them freudsters]

“This would be the logical and sensible outcome.”

why shouldn’t we have had a minutes silence as a mark of respect for John Paul 2nd .?

A former club player/manager etc or a national tradgedy eg Dunblane…then that seems appropriate.

Other than that I wouldn’t have any.

The whole ‘ mark of respect thing’ has got totally out of hand IMO.

    Celtic FC Statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 03 Dec, 2014 17:15

AS recent years have shown, the fixture between Heart of Midlothian and Celtic at Tynecastle Stadium has become a difficult one. This follows various incidents, including an attack on the Celtic manager and continued sectarian abuse directed at Celtic management, staff and players.

Celtic representatives met with Ann Budge and her Executive team yesterday and were made aware of particular issues which arose at the match on Sunday.

In addition to these issues, missiles were thrown into the Celtic support, a Celtic supporter sustained injuries at the match after being hit with coins, and sectarian abuse was again directed at Celtic staff and players. We are also aware of a home supporter again attempting to enter the field of play at Tynecastle, this time to approach one of our players.

We are addressing these matters with Heart of Midlothian and welcome the desire of Ann Budge to seek a positive and enjoyable matchday experience for all football supporters at Tynecastle. We look forward to working with her to achieve this.

Celtic supporters have a long and proud record of positive support for the Club. Our fans have developed an excellent reputation and this is something we cherish and wish to preserve.

It is very important to note that the vast majority of Celtic supporters and Scottish football supporters behave impeccably at matches. With regards to the reported incidents at the match on Sunday, we would like to re-iterate that any form of offensive or inappropriate behaviour is contrary to our core values and the Club will deal with those responsible in the appropriate manner.

We share the concerns expressed by Ann Budge and her aim to eradicate all forms of offensive behaviour from Scottish football. We can assure Heart of Midlothian that we will be pleased to continue to co-operate with them fully to ensure that all issues from this match concerning both sets of supporters are addressed.

  9. Dear Mr Brennan,

Why does your open letter not contain one single word of condemnation toward those Celtic supporters who damaged the facilities, not to mention Celtic’s reputation, at Tynecastle?

You make relevant points, but make no apology for the moronic vandalism by these people. Without such an acknowledgement, your letter really amounts to nothing more than whataboutery I’m afraid.

  10. Mistertaximan

What vandalism are you refering to? Do you know for a fact that it was done by Celtic Supporters? Did you personally witness Celtic Supporters vandalising anything?

  11. Number of Scottish Catholics on the rise

The 2011 census of Scotland has discovered the number of Catholics in the country is growing.

Sixteen per cent of the population identified as Catholics, the same as the last census in 2001, but the growing population means there are 37,000 more Catholics in Scotland than a decade ago.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The death of certain people is significant in a country for a variety of reasons. I would suggest that the death of a Pope is a fairly major event even in Scotland.

The census found that as of 2011, there were 841,000 Catholics in Scotland.

The proportion of Catholics in the population was generally highest in council areas in the Greater Glasgow area, with the highest percentage in Inverclyde at 37 per cent.

The total number Scots identifying as Christians still comprises more than half the population at 54 per cent, though the number of people who profess no religion has gone up to 37 per cent ,an increase of 9 per cent from 2001.

  12. Wrap up well tonight fholks.

Budge’s original statement is fair comment, when taken without the media spin, a big bit unbalanced of course, she has her perspective.

Celtics response is likewise, but much more balanced(they are the bad guys).

The media will not of course.

We are tainted at every opportunity, good the read Celtic officially backing the support.

Off to see the Celtic, cause that’s the way I like it.

    See you there.

  13. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

Actually a good move by the Celtic PR dept, let’s see who include this response in their reporting of this.

  14. It’s that time of year, need advice from some friendly cqn’er! Any based in on or near Las Vegas? Need advice about a music store that has an item for sale and need a check from the local if it’s kosher or not. All help gratefully appreciated.

  15. I note that the CFC statement, whilst a good one, also lacks any serious intent to tackle the morons, preferring as usual to tell us how wonderful the vast majority are. Well they’re not the people we’re talking about here. Ultimately, it’s more whataboutery.

  16. Maybe, just maybe….

Immediately after the game Celtic raise several concerns with wee Annie, wee Annie bricks it knowing that she can’t defend the indefensible and after Celtic leave, she takes a mad run up to the Celtic end, with a single bound, leaps the wall, and in a rage boots the brown out of a few seats while screaming “take that ya useless fenian bassas”; A common Tyncastle mantra known to a few and many more.

    Just maybe….

  17. It’ll be interesting too see how much coverage is given in the MSM to Celtic’s statement in contrast to the Hearts’ one.

Please don’t take any offence but….you’re not a Celtic supporter are you?

  19. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

It seem to me to be that there was a meeting between the clubs and the usual rule about keeping it between them has been broken by MsBudge.

maybe she is being nieve , maybe not….
