‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

Cheers for the welcome messages folks.

I like the craic on this site, and loads of good info from Paul and all you guy’s with your posts. Even on a slow news day the banter seems good.

This is what i like. Life is too short to take yerself too seriously. It’s the days when big stories break that are the best though…….this site just snowballs on those days.

  3. I fully expect this years July bigot parade to be the most violent in years. After the big L slams them into reality they will lash out.

Fantastic article, I’m not a fan of golf but loved this story.

I was going to ask if you do this professionally, however this would make you MSM, which would do a disservice to your work. Chapeu

I think today’s daily Ranger story on Neil Lennon, is the first I’ve seen without an accompanying snarling photo. Is this a policy change in the Ranger?

No I do not do this professionally– I am instead just a professional eedjit!

I do however like a good story and find certain kinds of people fascinating.

Trevino is one of those but there are many more from all walks of life.

Sorry but playing catch up toaday.

My point was only in reference to the pupils in Milton who now attend St Monica’s PS.

Of the current crop of 52 P7s only 4 are going to John Paul with the vast majority going to All Saints in Barmulloch. Cadder and Possil is a different matter because their ‘feeder’ secondary school is indeed JP Academy. The ‘feeder’ for St Monica’s is All Saints.

    Hope this helps :-))

I love a bit of squad discussion over the long summer months.

Assuming we need 2 players for each position, here’s where I think we currently stand.

    GK – Zaluska + 1 (Forster 1st choice)

    Right back – Matthews, Lustig

Centre Backs – Mulgrew, Rogne, Wanyama + 1 (possibly K. Wilson retained)

Left back – Emilio, Mulgrew, Matthews or Ledley back-up

Centre Mids – Brown, Kayal, Ledley, Wanyama, Ki

Creative Mids/Wingers – Forrest, Commons, Samaras, Ibrahim

Strikers – Hooper, Stokes + 2 (potentially Bangura)

So a goalkeeper, centre back and 1 or 2 strikers to be brought in gives us a 22 man squad plus youth players. The rest of the squad released or sold if possible.

    BRTH – Superb post.

My favourite golfer of all time is Sandy Lyle and I used to enjoy watching Lee Trevino when he did the pro-celebrity show with Sandy. Sandy would have been better off listening to Trevino in the early 90’s when Sandy was chasing all sorts of weird cures for hs failing golf game. I think Lee urged him to get back to basics and recover his natural swing instincts……it was sound advice then

My initial thoughts were that Rangers ban would be reduced or suspended upon appeal but having read the ‘notes’ on the judgement published last week I would be amazed if the judgement was now overturned .

I hear what your saying but wasnt the same things mentioned about Kelvin Wilson? If we do get him for £1.5-2m I wont be upset but can see it going the same way as Wilson, just more money wasted in the long run. If he is that good a player why is he being left out of their 1st team? because of a fall oout with the manager? Players and managers fall out all the time, managers will forgive players good enough, just look at mancini & tevez. If he isnt good enough for their team he certainly isnt good enough for ours. Just my opinion.

This is all FF internet crap anyway, if they couldnae raise £500,000 for their club they are hardly going to go to the bother of blowing themselves up.

On another note, if they go anywhere near Hampden on Saturday to cause bother they will get an absolute tanking off both sets of supporters.

Coventry City Interim CEO Tim Fisher has said that there is no value in the Sky Blues going into administration.

Speaking to the CT in an interview with Andy Turner, Mr Fisher said: “Unlike other football club’s, Coventry City’s balance sheet has already been significantly cleaned up which rules out any ‘value’ of going into administration.”

Mr Fisher who said there had been no bids for the club said that survival is the way forward with everyone from the club owners to Arena Coventry Limited working towards that.

I dont think we should rush to get rid of Kelvin Wilson I remember Paul Elliot in his first season with Celtic he was poor but in his second season once he had settled he was immense. Some players can take time to settle in and Kelvin may well be one of those. H.H,

  24. BRTH, Said before mate, you have a gift, great story of a great man well telt.

Trevino was a hero of mine (as was/is Sandy) and this wee anecdote sums him up. He was out on a course, the hooter went to clear the course as lightning was forecast, he pulled a 1 iron from his bag, held it aloft and said. “Go on then, bet even YOU can’t hit one of these?”

I’d like to share an evening in the company of Torrance, Trevino, Lyle, Clarke & Alliss.

I read with some amusement the story about huns threatening to blow themselves up.

  27. Duff and Phelps revealed that Miller ended his interest in the club because he was “uncomfortable” with a number of issues.

Whitehouse said: “We can confirm that Mr Bill Miller has decided not to complete his purchase of Rangers Football Club.

“Since Mr Miller was announced as preferred bidder on Thursday of last week, it is regrettable that more progress could not be made to further the sale of the club.

“We have been informed by his advisors that there were a number of issues with which he felt uncomfortable including legacy contracts, the limitation of potential revenue streams and the expectation of required investment.”

And in steps Green with his 20 ‘investors’ (An investor is a party that makes an investment into one or more categories of assets — equity, debt securities, real estate, currency, commodity, derivatives such as put and call options, etc. — with the objective of making a PROFIT.)

    Just brilliant mate.

  29. EPL makes you sick when you see an anti-football team like Stoke forking out this kind of money. Which begs the question again, WHY WOULD YOU INVEST IN RANGERS IN THE SPL!

Stoke chairman Peter Coates has told club boss Tony Pulis that he will need to move players on in order to generate transfer funds this summer.

The Potters have spent big in an effort to cement themselves among the Premier League elite, with some £84million paid out since winning promotion in 2008.

Coates has been prepared to finance the elaborate spending spree, but concedes that there must come a time when the books start to balance.

He says 2012 will see that process begin in earnest, with Pulis informed that he will have to generate his own transfer kitty if he plans to make further additions to his squad.
