you miss his one touch control of a long ball from mccarthy ?

you miss is game intelligence of when to hold the ball in the right corner ?

    must have .

  2. A test we’ll passed tonight. Thought we were excellent and we’ll worth the win. Options from bench were good, McCarthy did well, whisper it, but Gio will do a job for us.

  3. Ange thinking about the season – getting game time into the legs of giakamakkis, forrest and Johnston and scales

Betis game will be a cracker.

    ——

The group may be settled by then. If it is then we’d be mad to play a full strength team.

  5. Big Tony,

    Will be a legend.

    Heart of a Lion.

    Inspirational.

    Never let you down.

Terry Downes once said “you have to knock your opponent out when abroad just to get a draw “

Seems like tonight Celtic had to do something similar to earn some deserved praise.

    Terrific result, result flattered Ferencvaros

    Hail Hail

    Stay Safe

  7. Really good performance and 3 sweet goals

Their 1st was pure spawn (Nicol v Germany 92). The second was due to smartarsery by Mikey but the finish was still great

My worry was the amount of space we gave them to shoot throughout the second half. I don’t think we need tacklers in midfiekd, just a bit more athleticism. Turnbull improved massively in this respect tonight, Callum is not going to get faster now, Bitton did his job well.

Small improvements will keep making us better.

no failures tonight – best for me were Bitton, Ralston, Abada

PS that perf would destroy Sevco

  8. Unexpected(by me) result, but very welcome. It means Conference football in the New Year.

Let’s not get carried away – the ninety-minutes encapsulates & illustrates all about the team and the season so far. Enjoyable cameo pieces(games) of good play and some quality goals, mixed in with naive defending and virtually no joined-up way of playing. Everything is ‘off the cuff’ – when it works it’s pleasing, but mostly it doesn’t. There is no concerted transition from back to middle, or, middle to front – no apparent settled shape. We neither attack, nor, defend, as a team.

Coaches copy each other, the less-successful copy the most successful….all very well. Playing in, and, playing out of the six-yard box is all very well if you have top players who can do it, we don’t have that kind of quality and yet we persist.

Hart, Jota & Kyogo meet the standard, a few others could get there…..most never will.

  9. Great result, despite McGregor misjudgement late in the game. Got an outside chance of staying in the Europa but would require a draw either in Leverkusen or one in Seville in the next games. Or ideally in both games.

    Very good football at times.

  10. JHB on 4TH NOVEMBER 2021 10:35 PM

Considering he’s being played out of position, I’d add Juranovic too.

  11. glendalystonsils on

Great result which will get the Livvy stumble out of our system. Playing out from the back cost us both goals but you get the feeling Ange will stick with it . We will get better at it with time , especially if we can improve the squad with a few more quality players to implement Ange’s philosophy .

An away win in Europe against a decent team seems a long way from last season .

  12. Some of “the people” on here are never happy when we get a result….they always push for the negatives….We have a new young team…let’s enjoy them…and all you “people”….GIRFUY….

How jammy are the huns. Play crap in a crap group, yet only have to beat Sparta at home to qualify. Assuming they then get beat in Lyon they would qualify with a losing review. And we would have to endure al, the self-delydjng shite that they ‘find a way to get the job done’.

We on the other hand, draw 2 teams from 2nd and 3rd strongest leagues plus a decent Fradi. Despite the higher seeding. I think we’ll get more points from a much tougher group and still get eliminated.

    Jammy hun bar stewards.

  14. Loved our performance other than the obvious. Why good players lose the ball needlessly in danger areas is not worth the risk they are taking. or it’s just down to poor concentration.

  15. We certainly do defend as a team. Miles better than we have since before last season. Tremendous workrate tonight. Great result and performance.

  16. JHB, Only time you get carried away is when we have a poor result.

I really struggle to see any love of Celtic in your Posts.

Plenty of good things on show a few bad errors but the way Ange has us playing there will always be heart stopping moments at the back.

We are improving, next transfer window hugely important but that is for another day.

We won away in Europe tonight in an exciting enjoyable , if we can’t celebrate & rejoice after that what is the point .

  17. We need to focus all our energies on getting a point in Leverkusen. Maybe, just maybe, their keeper won’t have another world class performance. If we can do that, the Betis game at home might be titanic.

Close ish – great term.messi’s wi the linguists heads 😇

    Hope all good your side.

  19. Ferencvaros were arguably the beginning of the end for Neil Lennon, ironic that his replacement just collected six points from six.

Top class performances all round in Ange’s squad with two automatic picks injured, Bitton controlled the midfield and Stephen Welsh absorbed most of what Ferencvaros could throw at Celtic aided by their partizan home support, who booed louder than than the Subway loyal. Slack passing over the 94 minutes cost us both goals but one tactic Ange’s game has held firm, with three quality strikes, one of which might make him rue resting 11 goal Kyogo at the weekend.

Pick your best side in a winning run don’t change it, the team selects now picks itself for the trip to Dens on Sunday.

  20. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    What CaddingtonCommon said.

    We won.

    We deserved to win.

We had zero points two matches ago.

Now we have six and are guaranteed European football after Christmas.

Thought most of the team played quite well.

    Kyogo is a superb professional.

Thought Ange was correct to rest his fab three after 70 minutes and give game time to guys who (later this season) need to contribute.

Only one real downside for me.

Should be a training video of Mikey Johnston’s 20 minutes.

    Titled “What not to do”.

I’ve tried to give this boy the benefit of the doubt recently.

An absolutely woeful exhibition by a so called professional athlete.

  21. Missed everything tonight – only heard the FT score – caught up now

Brilliant just brilliant- any away win in Europe is hard fought, there are no Kokkolas anymore (although I enjoyed the 14-1 aggregate at the time😁)

Some of the pathetic Hun fellow travelers trying to on here tonight are just embarrassing themselves – Loki in the mirror- your the ugly one (copyright St Stivs)

  22. 3x key attitudinal moments for me tonight; 1 from Tony and 2 from David Turnbull.

Tony loses it then tracks back and fairly melts their player to regain possession; loved it.

Turnbull – twice – discovers some innate physicality once each on opposite touchlines to bump his opponent off their stride and set up a fresh move.

  23. AN TEARMANN

Off tomorrow and took a half day to watch this one from home. Had a good feeling. Stopped for beer on the way home and the gent in the store shouted ‘f the brits’ as I approached the counter. He’s a gent of Iraqi origin and always enjoys a wee chorus of time of choice.

    BSR

    Agree with that, well put.

    QUADROPHENIAN

Quite true on the DT and Tony.

Maybe we could steal Livis defensive coaches.

away from Parkhead in Europe yes always even away domestically till we get a commanding lead under our belts. 👍

  25. Quadrophenian, Was very impressed with Turnbull tonight.

Those guys were physical, I reckon there is a lot of sore bodies in the Celtic Dressing Room.

Turnbull surprised me in a few physical exchanges, candidate for MOM in my book.

  26. JINKYREDSTAR on 4TH NOVEMBER 2021 10:54 PM

    name check hat doffed.

you should hace seen the sunset over the port and the gibby tonight, something special

  27. Eddie Howe in the frame for the Newcastle gig. He is expected to give his decision around May 2022.

  28. In terms of work-rate, every player put in an Ange-demanded shift.

Some are more eye-catching than others, particularly our forwards.

I was a wrong ‘un for wanting Liel hooked – his beaut goal sure shut me up.

Overall I think DT gets my MoTM for consistent application and twinning some brawn with his football brain.

  29. glendalystonsils on

Agree about Turnbull using his body strength , I’ve been crying out for him to add that to his game .

Maybe he could even coach Mikey Johnston ;-)))
