Football authorities and turning a blind eye

415

Scottish Football League, rule 23. Members’ Financial Records, “All Members and Associate Members shall keep detailed financial records of their activities and the board may arrange an inspection of all such records”.

In the absence of audited accounts for a new club, the board of the SFL are in a unique position to examine the financial records of The Rangers to ensure its leadership is not running amok with the Scottish game, in the same way previous incumbents of Ibrox did.

Or, a few months after Craig Whyte crashed a football club after telling everyone he had enough money to complete the season, will the football authorities look the other way?  Again?

  1. Count me in to get Awe Naw’s questions front and centre in some public forum……apart from the mighty internet continent of bampottery……..

…..without the internet I imagine the huns would still be in the spl and the e.b.t. , tax, and assorted myriad crimes would have been huffed and puffed away by now…..and some ranking panjandrum in h.m.r.c. would be looking to retirement on the board of Minty’s bank; well….it worked for Vodaphone et al.

  2. Good evening all, (Jeez, don’t I feel nervous drafting this first post, or not, (don’t know why,but I have got to the point where I feel that I must join this brethren. Since I first discovered this blog, prior to my hunt for Seville tickets during the Martin years!

As is the the normal accusations, for the established CQN hardcore contributors though, as an introduction, I am the proverbial (non hun) lurker.

However, may I, to emphasise my non hun persona, inform you all that I was taken to my first Bhoys v Huns match, and first Celtic match (what a babtism)! by my Big Brother in 1971, (I remember being lifted onto the barrier in the Celtic end ) and being asked by nearby fans “is the wee girl, awright there (1970’s haircuts eh!!)

Anyway,as a kind request to you all, can anyone within the CQN gathering, please inform me of any financial brokers, preferably in the Northampton / Milton Keynes area where I can acquire some information on the ins and outs of selling 2 x Endowment Policies which are due to expire in 2015.

Answers would be apreciated asap as I

The media keep going on about their great history.

    It’s a complete myth.

What are the most remembered for ?

Bigotry, rioting and not paying their taxes.

    Certainly not their football.

The question about joint sponsorship is in the supplement.

The way the proposal is worded left me confused, as it initially talks about Rangers FC ( who ??) and the talks about not getting into sponsorship deals with organisations who sponsors other clubs

From the way I read it , and it could be me mis-reading , it implies that we wouldn’t sponsorship from any organisation which sponsored any club , and not just Rankers.

Rightly or wrongly, it won’t get past the starting post.

  7. It’s hard to avoid bias towards players you saw with your own eyes but the Supporter’s Association seemed to want the top 20 Celts of all time and they should, therefore, include a spread across the eras. I go with :-

    Jimmy Johnstone

    Kenny Dalglish

    Bobby Murdoch

    Henrik Larsson

    Paul McStay

  11. Threats…

Nobody has mentioned the players of other clubs who were threatened and intimidated in the run up to Cardigan´s last league win…

After Neil´s Death threats, etc, there was something wierd going on in the SPL.

I think Dundee United players amongst others were got at.

You could see it in the body language and the way they played their last game against The Pre-Zombies.

i think any list should include your da or granda s top players. that way the mcmenemys and mMalcolm mcdonslds get a mention.

  16. This is the shirt sponsorship question, plus another (IMO) important resolution:

    10. That the next shirt sponsor for Celtic FC be a) one not related to another club; or b) if this is not possible, that the match shirt display the logo of an appropriate charity.

    FOR

    11. That the Board organise a working party on corporate governance with representatives of the board and supporters’ organisations.

Bobby Murdoch, Bobby Evans, Willie Fernie, Paul McStay, Bertie Peacock

    Billy McNeill, George Connelly,

Jinky, Bobby Collins, Henrik, Joe McBride, Charles Patrick Tully, Lubo, Neilly Mochan, Big Yogi,

Ask me tomorrow ( when I am sober) & I would have Alec Byrne, John Higgins, Jimmy Walsh, John Divers, John & Billy McPhail, Pat Crerand, Charlie Gallacher, Jim Kennedy,

Bertie, Bobby Lennox, Stevie Chalmers etc, etc, etc & a host of great Celts that I will be ashamed to have missed out.

    This is a disrespectful game.

    :¬(((

  18. Thankfully the list of great Celtic players that we

    have seen is endless.

And then again there was Wayne Biggins.

  19. Picking the top 20 Celtic players is always going to be difficult. There are some dead certs like Jinky, Henrik, etc but from most of the lists I have seen this man appears to be missing. Will he never be forgiven for missing that penalty v Inter Milan:

Dixie Deans joined Motherwell from Neilston Juniors in 1965 and spent six seasons with the Fir Park side.[2] He signed for Celtic in a £17,500 deal in 1971 and played for the Hoops until 1976. During this time he scored 132 goals in just 184 games for the club and set several scoring records. The six goals he struck in a defeat of Partick Thistle is a post-war record for goals scored in a single game, especially notable as Partick’s goalkeeper on the occasion was the Scotland custodian Alan Rough. He is also the only player in Scottish football history to twice score a hat trick in a major cup final, achieving the feat in the 1971-72 Scottish Cup final and the 1974-75 League Cup final, both against Hibernian.

I also made my list in haste but hey it is still an excellent selection of players.

Mr Divers was a teacher at St Pat’s (he was teaching from the new building up at the top – Modern Studies or one of those new subjects probably) when I was there but I don’t recall being in one of his classes. At times like these I really am ashamed of my bad memory but that is all my own fault for partying so hard and enjoying this World so much.

  25. Petec,

I was at St.Pat’s at the same time as John Divers in the early 1950s.

I loved him as a player.

Best ball winner from a ruck of players I have ever seen.

  26. Been traveling down to my mum’s in Worcester so just catching up and saw Bundoran Bhoy’s earlier update on Oscar’s condition.

This wee guy needs all our prayers, our thoughts and best wishes.
