Celtic Park Race Night for Oscar

1423

Football can be a primitive sport on occasions but before kick off at Cardiff tonight the Wales and Scotland players will acknowledge the nation’s thoughts for a family in distress. The game provides many of us with opportunities to remember we are members of a complex and caring society. The The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to invite you to next month’s race night at Celtic Park. This is from them:

Be a hero for Wee Oscar and come along and join us for the WeeOscar4Life Race Night and Auction on 17th November in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park!

Wee Oscar and his family flew to Philadelphia on the 6th October to start Wee Oscar’s potentially lifesaving Immunotherapy treatment, unfortunately due to health complications Wee Oscar was rushed into Intensive Care and it appears that these complications have shattered the prospect of receiving this immunotherapy treatment in Philadelphia. The events from the last few days have strengthened the WeeOscar4Life Campaign’s resolve to ensure maximum support for Wee Oscar and his family throughout Wee Oscar’s treatment. Set-backs such as this mean that it’s now more important than ever to raise additional funds.

The WeeOscar4Life campaign are proud to continue our fundraising for Oscar and his family during his treatment; Lisa Hague, Patron of the campaign, and Partner of Celtic’s Kris Commons says ‘This is the next stage of fundraising which will directly support Oscar and his family throughout the treatment and we implore the Celtic Family to continue supporting this incredibly worthwhile appeal. The Race Night and Auction is going to be a wonderful night and I can’t wait for the fun!”

Tom Boyd, the captain who stopped 10, said, “It will be my pleasure to support the WeeOscar4Life campaign by attending the race night next month. The backing shown by the Celtic Family already has been nothing short of extraordinary, and has inspired many of us to get involved and help this family through such an abysmal time.”

10 WeeOscar4Life Corporate tables, seating 10 people, are available on a first come first served basis offering preferential seating, drinks package, snacks, free entry and company advertising/printed logos. Early booking is advised as advanced reservations mean there is limited availability.

WeeOscar4Life seats are available and can be purchased individually or as groups at £7 per ticket. Again these seats will be sold on a first come first served basis. Snacks will be available on each table. Tables seat 10 people.

On the night there will be 8 races a raffle and an auction.

Race sponsorship is also available at £250 per race.

Jockey and Owner sponsorship is also available at £5 per Jockey or Owner. Each winning Jockey and Owner will receive a prize.

To reserve tickets or request further information please contact the team at here WeeOscar4Life@gmail.com.

  2. A double top 10 placement to go with my 2 podiums/podia this year. I think I’ll go out and celebrate.

Concur with the annoni_bhoy, I went to the Vanssea quiz night with my son, a great night – especially when Hebcelt gives you half a Stornaway black pudding.

Well done Paul for highlighting this, and moreover, to the many folk in front of and behind the scenes who are doing breathtaking work for this wee guy and his family.

Call me mad as mad Jack McMad but I’m after putting a tenner on Ireland to beat Germany tonight. Ireland are 9.6 to win the game at home. Crazy odds for a home team. Bookies will probably prove me wrong but being Irish and liking the long odds I just couldn’t resist. I can only put it down to a mix of patriotism and greed on my part :-)

Read earlier Germany have NEVER lost an away WC qualifying game. Maybe that’s reflected in the odds. Plus no keane up front.

  9. What a pity Wee Oscar cannot get the immunotherapy treatment but if his heart is damaged God Bless the wee man and get him strong enough to come home to get some help with that.

Will be out of the country for the race night or actually just arriving back in the late afternoon from the USA so wont be able to make it, will donate the price of the ticket and a few beers to his site.

Hope a great night is had by all and a load of money raised.

    Hail Hail!

  12. Chuck, I love you! Just seen this on the BBC website. Any Arsenal or Villa fans out there want to comment? I believe the last Arsenal v West Ham game at the Emirates was a sell out! Also, a team that get gubbed by Stirling in a Euro league?? The guy is a genius!!

Chief executive Charles Green believes Rangers will be involved in the formation of a new European league. Green’s consortium relaunched the Ibrox club after the former incarnation could not be saved from liquidation.

“I’m convinced it will happen because otherwise where will the revenues for the top come from”

Charles Green on a European league

Rangers currently play in Scottish Football League Division Three.

“There will be a European league because big teams can’t keep subsidising small teams for the next 10 years because they will go stale,” said Green.

“Arsenal don’t want to play Southampton or Swansea, but ask them if they want to play Celtic or Rangers. It’s what the fans want to see.

“Fans across the world want to see Manchester United play Barcelona, not just once every few years but every season.”

Green is convinced Rangers would be part of any new European league.

“If there are two divisions of 18 clubs, how could Rangers not be a part of that?” he asked. “I’m convinced it will happen because otherwise where will the revenues for the top come from? These days Arsenal are struggling to sell out their game against West Ham.”

Last month, BBC Scotland revealed Scottish clubs, including Rangers, were to discuss the possibility of being part of a new European regional league set-up.

Uefa is believed to be open to change as it grows increasingly concerned by the polarisation between the top clubs and top leagues.

Green added: “How can Manchester United’s revenues be £320m and Aston Villa, who are completely useless, get £250m?

“What Manchester United put into world football is massive, but what they take out of it is a joke and they won’t put up with that for much longer.”

I was more concerned about people putting fists to my face …especially after winding up so many over the years …. But I was made to feel entirely at home.

Too many names and too many faces I was a wee bit lost.

To all those that think that CQNers are somehow … Middle class …and it is not for them then all I can say is total nonsense.

Genuinely good people and with a heart of gold….even when me and my brars were introduced as Super Sammy, Joshyboy and Sean South ;-)

  15. Got it…..I’ve been tryin’ to figure out who in god’s name Chunky on a rant reminds me of, and the answer came like a blinding light with fanfare….Sarah Palin.

And come to think of it….maybe even Michael Palin in a ‘Ripping Yarn.’

Nah….Sarah, as she looks towards Russia and sees The Mongol Hordes invading Alaskee.

The man has that air about him : confabulation with a dollop of menace.
