Fragile Celtic crack

362

After collecting one point from their previous five games, Livingston fans can scarcely believe the result and performance their side recorded against Celtic yesterday.  A goal from a breakaway on 25 minutes was enough to shatter Celtic’s early fluency.  For all the flattery achieved by pounding opponents at Celtic Park, there is a fragility about Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Andrew Shinnie nipped in front of Stephen Welsh before thrashing a shot high into the net.  The central defender should have done better but it was an excellent finish from Shinnie.  The move started when Celtic were exposed on the right as Livingston won possession in the middle of the field.

The way we setup, we are going to concede chances and goals on the counter; going behind should not have had the consequences that followed.  Instead of provoking a clinical reaction, Celtic’s early assured touch deserted them.

James McCarthy started his first game since May and is clearly well off pace.  Mikey Johnston came on for his first appearance of any sort since May, he also needs time before we can expect anything like his best.

While central mid took much of the focus, our wing play was no better.  Jota was significantly less effective against Livingston than against Betis on Thursday, and Liel Abada’s devastating runs into the box just didn’t happen.  The only real pass mark was for Joe Hart, who made an instinctive save that prevented the home side doubling their lead.

We won on nine consecutive visits to Livingston between 2001 and 2007 before an 11-year gap until the next visit.  Since returning to the West Lothian venue in 2018, we have played five, drawn three and lost twice.  I am not fond of blaming the pitch; we have ample access to artificial pitches to practice on.  Be ready next time.

So what now for our league challenge?  News from Ibrox that Motherwell took a point to limit the damage of the afternoon was a merciful relief.  A four-point gap is bad enough but six points would feel daunting.  We are still in the race largely due to the fact that our only genuine opponents are well below the form they enjoyed in the two previous seasons.  Whoever sorts out their form first will win the title.

Lots to consider, Ange.

I’m aware of that. And we got good money for him.

But for me losing Christie was more of a loss than losing Eduoard.

Sure we’d have lost him for nothing but we’d have dropped less points between summer January.

Very poor squad management over the past several years.

We’ve went from large and bloated to unbalanced, to thin in a 3 year spell.

Just type the email address, the exact same as above, & they will be able to help

  4. Disappointed with yesterday’s result but something deeper worries me.

As painful as losing 10IAR was, the one crumb of comfort I had was that there would be a fresh start; a big reset.

We knew Lawwell was going and there was talk of a new, forward-thinking CEO; a DoF; sports scientists, data analysts; a new manager with a fresh coaching staff; a new head of recruitment etc and a structure that would resemble a modern club.

We are now in September and other than Ange for Lennon, we’ve not changed a thing and in fact, we’ve regressed. No head of recruitment to replace Hammond, no CEO, the same coaching staff, Ange calling out for sports scientists and patchy results on the pitch.

Yesterday, I heard some pundits talk about the head of the set-piece coaching team at Brentford. It sounds like another world. If we succeed on the pitch, it will be in spite of our infrastructure and not because of it.

There was an episode in injury time yesterday near our defensive left hand corner. The opponent had the ball and was ushering it out for a throw.

Bitton shoved the man in the back and conceded an wholly unnecessary free kick.

    ==============================

Squire – when I saw him running towards the guy’s back (we were in the far-away end from it) I shouted “Don’t f@@@@n’ push him!!!”

Swiftly followed by “Awww furfuxake ya f@@@@n’ idiot!!!!”

I’ve stood up before for Bitton, largely because he looks like a big, chilled, languid, dope-smoking fiend – but you are bang-on – utterly brainless football.

Sending off against the new pretendy Huns was exactly the same – seen it coming a mile away.

I agree totally, I see some trying to insinuate that being unhappy with the way the club is being run is the same as hoping the manager gets the sack. Absolute nonsense, doing nothing is not an option and that is what the board have done for the last 6mths.

Manager has my support, board absolutely does not.

  8. GEEBEE1978 on 20TH SEPTEMBER 2021 4:38 PM

very good summation, exactly as it is.

While all the old foosty board remain in ownership and in place, true structural changes will not happen.

If anything, more gaps in the organisation are evident, they dont need plugged, they need improved on from what was in place before.

The parting of Dom for me is becoming an even bigger puzzle. The appointment of Nicolson, a board placeman for sure, but his CV and Linkedin is impressive, a legal eagle for sure, a range of degrees and qualifications from various universities, is he I earnt from Peter type, I dont see anything that says Moderniser.

The board dont want modernity, they want the status quo. They got it with 53,000 season books sold again.

They got any type of european qualification, thats nice, keeps them in 5 star jaunts at other peoples (us) expenses.

Football results, they dont seem to matter so much.

  9. the glorious balance sheet on

We’ve failed to score in 8 of the 29 domestic matches played in 2021. That’s almost 30 percent of matches.

That’s what happens when you keep taking punts on dross like Klimala and Bayo and continually sign players who aren’t ready for first team football until weeks down the line.

  10. Our rebuild feels like a 2 to 3 year job.

I hope Ange will be the man to do it. I’ll feel more comfortable when I belive he is adequately supported.

Both Ange and the support will know around March next year whether he’ll get the following season.

I know that not all our board vote Tory and anyway, what if they did, we are…

    A CLUB OPEN TO ALL.

The mindset of some on here is that if you don’t vote SNPcult, you are a “TOARIE.” Well that is just plain wrong.

The SNPcult enabled Thatcher to overthrow Labour and voted with them many times at Westminster. They also joined them in government in Scotland. The SNPcult were always labelled THE TARTAN TORIES and for good reason. There is not, never has been, and never will be, a left-wing marker in SNP DNA – they con to win voters – voters who should know better.

Yeah, it’s your first name, dot/full stop, along with a couple of letters from your surname, along with

four individual numbers, yeah, well that’s what they gave myself as a usename, & it was fine.

As for home testing kits, I was given a box of said kit, for future use. The way one test’s ones self

according to the instructions leaflet was 1) dab the back of ones throat, 2) then push said testing

bud/stick, about nearly one inch up each nostrel, 3) & bring up flem & spit onto a hankerchief/

Paper towel etc-etc & then use the other items provided to check if your negative or positive.

What I gather is if there is two small continues red lines that means you are positive. If there

are no red lines @ all, that means you are negative. & if there is only one red line & one blank

line, that means that you have not carried out the test correctly. However with one like myself,

who has contracted that pain in the butt virus, untold amount of times before my first vaccine,

in-fact I got that virus when it first appeared on the UK shores, & believe me, it was a lot worse

then, than what it is now, my immune system knows when it’s around, & knows what to expect.

Nicholson may well be a very competent guy. However, I’d feel better if they replaced Lawwell with him immediately and said they’d had a ready-made replacement. The fact they headhunted McKay suggests the board didn’t really consider Nicholson a viable option so I don’t see why he should be now.

They maybe Celtic supporters, but not in the same fashion as the majority of supporters.

5 star home and away experiences, freebies all round, chauffered here and there, private flight charters, after a defeat no concern about should i buy the next away ticket, if offered, not even being hidden away during covid restrictions, I thought their continued attendance at the matches was rubbing supporters noses in it.

Hillsborough was a disaster, RIP the 96(now 97) souls, it was also a state sponsored set up, by Maggie, bad policing? and the corruption and horrible stink of the aftermath has been ruthlessly exploited to “tame” society’s hooligan elements who mainly congregated on football terraces, and now almost 3 decades later, we have a society were a worrying amount of society’s citizens are inclined to believe hook line and sinker what govts are saying to them through the corrupt beyond belief MSM.

sadly, there are a worrying amount of, govt susceptible citizens who sit in the now seated terraces in football stadiums, and Parkhead has more than its fair share of these citizens, as their non resistance and always bowing to Celtic’s executive leaders dictation, especially in the recent years of overwhelming executive collusion corruption and downright betrayal, and the overwhelming evidence of this is situated all over the internet and “NOT” on any MSM literature or lies.

Although ManUtd fans will take their club “back” from its unaccountable offshore tax dodging owners as they haven’t allowed their working class origins to be severed by shifty sharp suited fakes, maybe there’s a lesson in there?

At that point,Holt was booked and the other midfielder also booked, effectively this made them bulletproof as no chance of another yellow, prior to.that the RB was booked after 3 minutes,so had Jota played him correctly,he too was on.a tightrope.

The first patrons CATHOLIC and IRISH for sure.

    https://www.thecelticwiki.com/about-celtic/celtic-board/celtic-committee/

Brendan Sweeneys early years book, has two excellent observations, busting a couple of myths,

One , Brother Walfrid would refer to the team as his “boys” not the kelts, but “keltic” and his keltic boys”.

Carried on from his school work at sacred heart, were he taught “the boys”, several becoming our first committe and players, his “bhoys” (i assume still said with a sligo and/or gaelteacht brogue).

Having not seen the players or the committee in a number of years he met them in london returning from european tour

“I dont recognise many, but as long as they are my bhoys wearing the green and playing at our ground they are the keltic”.

I find it interesting that “bhoys” stuck, but people forgot the origin.

    Next,

Brendan burst the myth that Brother Walfrid choose Celtic as a bridge between the scots and the irish founders, as all comment from the time, talks about establishment of an Irish Catholic team, akin to 40 others in Scotland, using harp and shamrock and hibernians even an Emmett, and to feed children via the SVDP society,

He toyed with Columba, surely a bigger bridge if you wanted to Scottify (my word) the origins.

As a further point, Non Catholics did play for the team, maybe from season 3 onwards, not many, but there was not a sectarian make up of it, in turn though, it was felt that established teams, Renton being the first, gave up on signing local catholics as they would go to celtic anyways.

The press of the time pre war , continually refers to the Catholic club, the Irishmen, even a foreign team playing in scotland.

Yeah to your past Mentor/Roll Model who introduced Fishlips into Politics

& Being a leader, to which Fishlips repaid Alex Salmond by stabbing him

in the back (Yee Too Brutus) & papping him under their Fancy Yellow

Painted Vote For The SNP Election/Polling For Votes Coach. When Fishlips

was pressed @ an Inquiry into said Debacle Escapade she replied no

fewer than 50 times, nah I don’t recall & can’t remember said recent

matter. & also Fishlips does not take note of minutes, @ important

Meetings, which arise with her position in Politics, she is not fit & proper,

& she broke the Ministerial Code of Conduct, her state of past affairs

are in acomplete disarray, worse than a Dog’s Dinner-bowl after being

used. & Fishlips comes out on the TV saying that I would like to congratulate

Sevco, in winning the SPL in Season 2020/21 Yeah what about the

Acknowledgement of Celtic Unbroken History FC, winning the SPL nine

years in a row before then? Silence. Nah I will never vote for the SNP

(Sunday Night @ The Palladium ) again, that’s for sure. Sunday Night

@ The Palladium, more like Comedy Night @ The Palladium as far as

the SNP are concerned, & you are also right, the SNP are hypocrites,

always criticizing the Tories, yet copying the exact same policies, &

Indoctrinating their followers, to go out & claim credit, for the Tories

policies, copying everything the Tories do, was done by them 1st,

yeah what a load of p*sh, not only are the SNP Copycats, they are also

Backstabers as well, by constantly slagging off the Tories behind their

back, & yet Fishlips went crawling to Number Ten Downing Street,

chapping the Door & asking Boris for half a billion pounds (£500,000,000)

more, on top of the Barnet Formula, Plus the SNP got another twenty

billion pounds, for the Covid pandemic as well. So where is all this extra

money going into? Yeah probably into the SNP’s hidden overseas Bank A/c’s.

In-fact Fishlips is now known a “Oliver Twist” by Westminster, Fishlips is

certainly on the “Fiddle” please Boris can I have some more.

Most of the Scottish people who vote for Fishlips & Co, should be careful

for what they are wishing for. The SNP will lead them down the wrong path,

that is for sure, their position as far as Scotland’s current affairs is concerned,

is a future disaster/catastrophy waiting to happen, box clever everyone, & don’t

be easley misled, or so nieve.

‘Tories, rich men, unionists, millionaires and billionaires,’

    ####

So when exactly did it become a necessary condition of being a Celtic supporter that you had to support Scotland leaving the UK?

Btw Ronnie Simpson was a Tory.

    ——————

Scottish Nationalism is not a condition of being a celtic supporter, that is just a childish summation from you to pigeon hole what you dont like is happening.

Like the rest of the voting population, over a period of lets say 30 years, the demographic of voting has changed, maybe higher within the celtic support and dare i say catholic voters.

It is not an exclusive thing for celtic supporters, it reflects society in general.

I never met an openly tory voting celtic supporter in my lifetime of supporting, almost everything else at different times, but never met a tory one , i personally havnt met any of the current borad or liam fox.

but you know all this anyways.

    ——————-

Ronnies conservatism was of its time, and location, being based in corstorphine , and a local council elective, but even so, what is that got to do with how celtic supporters might vote today ?

Here Brian, I hear your a tory now ?

well aye, having wrote the book on our history i realised i should be voting the same way as faither might have done.

    ok, makes sense.

  31. Guys,

What is a rich man. Probably anyone living in a house valued >£250,000., or if quarter of a million if it sounds more posh. Or even in receipt of a final salary pension.

Have you seen the main car park on match day. Monaco would be proud of the display of wealth. Private reg plates worth more that most folk earn in a year.

There is absolutely no doubt we have Tories amongst us. The Tories may be of the Unionist or the Tartan variety. Does it really matter.?

Bearing the amount of “rich” people on here, remember:- It is easier to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

When your relaxing with your vintage Malt in suburbia, remember that and stop the hypocrisy.

    HH.

  32. I am trying to retire on less money by doing one of those “sponsor a hardship story” charity things.

I have been able to sponsor someone called “eric” who resides it seems in one of the most deprived areas of glasgow, a certain 95 kerrydale street.

For 640 pound per annum, i get to keep him fed and watered.

  33. what about the non(aye) Tories who wear kilts and claim £200+k in expenses over and above their vast always increasing pay packets?
