Hibernian aced their start to the season, recording only a single defeat (away in Europe) in all competitions in July, August and September. October hit them hard: four games, four defeats, then came a 25-day lay-off, with an international break augmented by a period when half the team had to isolate.
When you look back on their results, how they reached next week’s League Cup Final is an oddity, but they did so in some style against a Newco side that capitulated in the face of even-handed officialdom. Defend poorly, against Martin Boyle in particular, and you will lose goals.
That the team on the worst run of form in Scotland reached the final is irrelevant, if they are good enough to get there, they are good enough to take seriously. I would prefer Jack Ross to have remained as manager, instead of resigning after last night’s defeat to Livingston (we have all been there, Jack). What their former manager could not do is maintain discipline. Their worst two results in recent weeks: defeats to Ross County and Livingston, saw two late red cards in each game, as the team lost composure when they needed it most.
Hibs will now hope for the dead cat bounce effect to come into play at Hampden. This phenomenon holds up statistically, although the effect soon runs out of fuel. The full horrors of last season came home to me after we dropped points to Jack Ross’s Hibs 54 weeks ago. Celtic’s trajectory was clear, but we would wait a further 3 months before Neil Lennon resigned. That cat did not bounce.
We have three games before the final, home to Motherwell, away to Ross County and tonight’s dead rubber against Real Betis. At the corresponding fixture last season we discovered David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro were capable of improving the team. Who knew? I’m sure Ange Postecoglou will hope for the same from some of his fringe players tonight.

I know who G&L are and was going to use them in the joke, but to be honest I dont know any of their songs or backgorund, so thought it might be a bit obscure.

If the rumour is true, and Higgins not taking the job,Hawthorne’s replacement i heard, then you can be sure DD won’t be happy, to see a moral victory for the supporters.
Its Neil Lennon for the Head of Security job.
right packing up, paradise awaits.
Gallagher & Lyle, Stealers Wheel, Gerry Rafferty & Frankie, and many more – great stuff made in Scotland
If Bankier & Lawwell ever did play the Howf, it certainly wouldn’t have been in a Beggars Opera😄.
Can still see mine host & ‘good Tim’ John Watterson making his presence felt behind the downstairs bar in my mind’s eye – he used to pay only £15 for a gig upstairs – said it was a “showcase opportunity”…. Aye right!!!

They used to do a lot of Simon and Garfunkel as well.

“Celtic’s trajectory was clear, but we would wait a further 3 months before Neil Lennon resigned. That cat did not bounce.”
A decision you were fully supportive of Paul 67.
In fact you done a full arrogant article sniping at us who were shouting for change telling us the board were far more clever than us and that’s why they get paid the big bucks, remember?
————-
Respectfully Sid – you’ve been carrying that load for a year?
Let it go. You’ll likely feel better.
There may be some who think Paul67 is the Messiah?
There may be a bigger group who think he is not the Messiah, just a naughty boy.
Chances are …. he’s a guy who writes a blog which gets more right than wrong?
Does that mean the ‘frequency’ of your aerial posts will decrease? It seems a shame as they were orignally ‘making waves’ but later were ‘getting a good reception’.
On the Megabus fae Dundee, due into Weegieland around 5.15, then a quick bite and a wee swally. Thermals on, oh the joys…COYBIG 🍀🍀
Sorry last post was aimed at Hot Smoked.

———-
HS – glad to hear it. Enjoy the game.
Many, many years ago my TV aerial was playing up.
I went outside during a terrible storm to check it … …when a sudden huge gust of wind caught it and snapped it into pieces which all then landed on my head.
Phoned an engineer and described what happened.
He said he couldn’t help and suggested I contact the War Office.
Puzzled, I asked why.
Because, he said, …
… it was an aerial bombardment.
🤦
(Coat already fastened)
Ouch.

Thermals or not,I`m still jealous :-))
JHB on 9TH DECEMBER 2021 4:26 PM
Very good and you will be able to experience the peace of having posted a comment without receiving a load of abuse afterwards :-))
Are you going tonight? If so, enjoy. Difficult to predict this one but I fancy a draw.
Hot Smoked
Cheers J, glad your aerial is sorted. See you on Sunday 👍

I am looking forward to it already, A !!
I am hoping the 30mins silence tonight is such that the GB decide not to repeat it in the important game against Motherwell.
Cheerio for now.
