Green is wrong, players are all free agents

191

“If the players choose not to transfer they will then be in breach of contract” said Charles Green yesterday.  How desperate is this man?  Rangers players, every single one of them, work for Rangers Football Club PLC, a company which come Friday will no longer employ them.  They have a contract with Rangers Football Club PLC but the company is unable honour those contracts. Some players may choose to accept a job offer from Sevco, but Sevco has absolutely no right to intimidate or make legal claims on them. It can certainly not make threats based on breach of a contract another company is actually breaching.

The important question for you to consider is not whether Green is correct in his claim (he is not), it is why is he making such a statement?  Why mislead people and attempt to intimidate Rangers employees in this way?

Charlie doesn’t even have the keys yet and it looks like he is already miles off plan.  We like Charlie.  Lots.

    Good Morning,

Green is a clown, a buffoon, a business dodo, a bluff and bluster windbag who blows hot air and who so far has said very little that makes any sense, stands any scrutiny and carries any credibility.

TUPE rules are clear– if he cared to read them then even he would be well aware that in he should not want the players to transfer to any Newco under TUPE… then again maybe he already knows this and he just spouts complete and utter nonsense because he knows that is the staple diet that the masses in this country are used to… and that they usually just lap it up and swallow it down!

Anyway to other matters. Here are some questions– especially for those who live in certain areas and who are involved in aspects of business and the like. These questions can be answered and actioned on an individual basis or by a group acting together who might be able to see any of these through. Here goes:

    1. Anyone interested in buying Celtic Park, the surrounding ground and Lennoxtoun for say £6M?

    2. Would the SFA sell Hampden and the surrounding Ground for £5.5M?

    3. Anyone want to ask the SRU if they fancy letting Murrayfield go for circa £5-6M?

4 Ok how about the west end of Glasgow folk– Scotstoun showground complex and stadium for £5.5M??? Good deal or no for the City Council??

    5. Stirling folk– how about Forthbank and the Peak Sports Centre for about £5M or so?? Stirling folk happy with that?

    6. Bearsdeners and Milngaviers— when Beardy Branson bought the Esporta Club and Golf course– do you think he paid more than £5M for it?

    7. Paisley and Renfrew folk— club together to buy the David Lloyd Unit??? Should be available for about £100k or so if you accept what D&P are punting?

    8. Thistle fans– how do you value Firhill and all that student accommodation that was recently built up Maryhill way? Guaranteed rentals each year etc? But probably worthless at D&P prices.

    9. Duncan Bannatyne: Fancy spending a few £Mill on a state of the arts sports centre in a desireable area in the West of Scotland??? Good move– because if D&P come to sell it you will have wasted all your money as it won’t be worth the cost so you are better investing in Piri Piri sauce!

    10. Brian Kennedy—How do you value Sale Sharks and their ground/ Are you willing to sell for £5.5M? What do you mean they are worth more than that? Look at the price of the mighty Rangers, their ground, their history and all they ever owned?

Anyway some decent folk are or were too good to ignore or be overshadowed by the failure of a badly run business— so at someone else’s request I repeat below something entirely different from last night.

    ———————————————————————————————————–

    Goodbye Mr Lawrence

    Good Evening,

It is perhaps a little hard after the events of today to concentrate on Sporting matters or to take a look back in time and consider, not administrators and lawyers etc, but true sporting achievement. Yet tonight it is a must.

The advent of television- particularly colour television– made the early 70′s a time of real discovery for sports fans. It brought different sports, and sports stars into our living rooms and made household names out of foreigners who we would never have heard of if it were not for the TV.

Having witnessed the festival of football that was provided most notably by Brazil in the 1970 World Cup, this 11 year old sat in salivating anticipation of the 1972 Olympics and all that they would bring.

And by God the games brought a lot.

These were the first games on german soil since Hitler’s 1936 Berlin games so famously dominated by Jesse Owens. Munich dubbed the Twentieth Olympiad as the Happy Games– a name which was brutally rendered redundant by the Black September massacre of Israeli athletes in the Olympic Village on 5th September. 9 athletes were murdered, and all but three of the terrorists were killed in the incident. Of the remaining three, two were subsequently hunted down by Mossad and assassinated. The Third remains in hiding in an African country to this day.

The games were halted for 24 hours, but thereafter “Slavery” Avery Bundage, the head of the IOC who had so swiftly brought Owens athletics career to an end decades before, declared that ” The Games Must Go On”.

It was against this background Muncih and the twentieth Olympiad delivered sport in abundance.

We were astounded by Mark Spitz and his 7 Gold medals in the pool to add to the two he had won in Mexico.

We saw the emrgence of a skinny Finnish Policeman called Lasse Viren on the track, with his wins in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres.

There was uproar when the USSR beat the USA in the Basketball final– the Americans refused to accept their silver medals which remain in a swiss bank vault to this day.

The two American Sprinters who were favourites to take the 100 metres medals missed the quarter finals when they were given the wrong start time. Notwithstanding Veleriy Borzov proved he was the fastest man in the world taking the Gold in both 100 and 200.

A strange American Dude in a Golf hat by the name of Dave Wottle won the 800 metres with the starnge tactic of running last until he released “Dave Wottle’s Throttle” to pass everyone else in the home straight

And even the most manly of hearts and minds were charmed by a Russian Elphin waif by the name of Olga Korbut.

Yet tonight all these are but bit players when remebering the start of an Olympic Journey by a man called Lawrence. Nicknamed and indeed known locally as “Pirolo” 1972 saw the start of his quest for a feat which had only been managed once before, and has been repeated only once since. Indeed he may have even surpassed these feats in later years had politics not interfered with his career.

Many will not be familiar with any athlete of note called Lawrence or indeed Pirolo, and that would be because for competition purposes he dropped the Lawrence part of his name, although to be honest within a few short years many would simply know him from his first name alone as it was enough to identify him and separate him from all others………… Teofilo.

Teofilo Stevenson ( Lawrence ) died earlier on today from heart disease.

He was born on 29th March 1952 in the Las Tunas province of Cuba and he would go on to be only the second man to win the gold medal in the Boxing ring at 3 separate Olympiads— Muncih, Montreal and Moscow. Cuba did not paticpate in the Los Angeles Games choosing instead to exercise a boycott. He would have been hot favourite to win.

He won the inaugral World Amateur heavyweight title in 1974 and he dominated that event and the Olympics until 1982 when he finally lost to future professional champion Francesco Damiani of Italy.

However he did go on to beat Tyrrell Biggs in 1984 and he won his last World Amateur title at Super Heavyweight in 1986 whe he defeated Alex Garcia of the United States.

Of his 302 Amateur fights he lost only 22 and at one point he was undefeated in major international competitions for an amazing 11 years.

However, reciting Teo’s stats doesn’t come close to telling the story. You see Teo was as handsome as Ali and his immense right hand caused some comedic knockdowns and knockouts. In a big ring, good and experienced fighters actually ran away from him and tried to keep out of his road for fear that the big man would lay that right hand on them…. because when he did then it was goodnight Vienna.. or Munich.. or Montreal or wherever.

Inevitable comparisons were made with Ali and after Montreal Stevenson was offered over £3 Million to fight the Greatest. Famously, Stevenson turned down the money, remained true to his Amateur and National hero status and came out with the great quote ” What is £3Million in comparison to the love of 9 Million Cubans?”.

He famously had trouble with a tough Russian called Igor Vysotsky who managed to beat him twice in lesser international tournaments… but he could never repeat such feats in the major tournaments.

Would Teo have beaten Ali? In my view no– not uinless he had several fights over 15 rounds under his belt first, because Ali may well have been the greatest at taking a punch and recovering and of course he had devastating foot and hand speed in his early years. However in later Olympics Stevenson’s appearance in the ring was a “must watch” event for millions outside his native Cuba because he was just that good.

However, Stevenson has an undoubted claim as the best Amateur Boxer of all time. The facts, the figures and his entertainment value support that.

At a time when the words “Sporting Integrity” are much debated, Teofilo Stevenson was a champion of sticking true to his routes, his beliefs, his ehtos and his people.

I doubt you will see his like again, so here is a wee video of the gentle giant at his devastating best!

Today’s newspapers have pronounced the last rites over Rangers Football Club. However, I suggest in this piece that the Death Certificate could have been signed prematurely, and that there remains an option, by taking on HMRC in court, which might give Duff & Phelps and Mr Green enough “oxygen” to keep Rangers alive into next season and potentially an increased offer to creditors.

    continue = start/beginning.

    continuation = starting from scratch.

carry on = starting from nothing.

trophies = 0, nil, as in none.

Old Firm = A phrase used lazily to describe a football game that was once played

between Celtic FC and an old city rival that no longer exists.

Rangers = Reference to a now defunct football club that once played in Scotland.

Just read Paul McC blog and really I expected better from him.

He gives Doncaster more importance than he has,ND is a temporary steward who is paid to run a temporary entity, the spl,he is no authority in and on Scottish football in a historical sense, the idea that an spl chairman, established 12 years ago can have any authority on the wider history is nonsense.

The plain fact is the huns are about to die, when they do,the history ceases simple.

The idea that a newclub can decide to accept what would be meagre punishment anyway, for another clubs misdeeds in order to inherit its history is perverse.

Their is a good reason why liquidation is so fearsome and absolute, its the reasons why all the huns are devastated and it is that their club and everything which goes with it is finished.

  32. As Green is desperately making up stuff as he goes along and blustering away in the msm about rfc(deceased) players being hauled off in shackles to his ‘newco’ I assume he can’t afford to take anyone to court.

Given that, then it surely follows that he doesn’t actually have the actual readies to buy the carcass of a toxic club/brand.

Oh….many more happy days ahead as the vultures flock and squalk and tear away at everything in sight.
