CELTIC legend Scott Brown is poised for a dramatic return to the dug-out – with English fourth-tier strugglers Forest Green Rovers making a late move.
The former Hoops onfield leader is also wanted by Ayr United who sacked boss Lee Bullen last week after two years in the job.
Thirty-eight-year-old Brown, though, is being chased by the League Two side who have made an eleventh hour approach, according to a report in the Daily Record.
The club axed former Watford striker Troy Deeney on Thursday after just 29 days in charge and a record of no wins in six games.
Brown was dismissed by League One outfit Fleetwood Town at the start of September 2023 after just a year at the club as he began his managerial career.
The one-time Parkhead skipper is believed to have already held talks with the Ayrshire club’s chairman Dave Smith as he prepares for the next step in his career as a gaffer.
Brown’s former Hoops team-mate Charlie Mulgrew and his ex-Hibs colleague Kevin Thomson have also been linked with the Somerset Park job with the Championship side eager to make an appointment ahead of Saturday’s match against Queen’s Park.
