HOOPS STRIKERS’ UPDATE

1

FORMER Charlton striker Lyle Taylor is NOT a target for Neil Lennon.

The Hoops have been linked with the free agent, but a report insists the hitman is not on the Celtic manager’s wish list.

Taylor was said to be in talks with the champions, but the Scottish Sun have rubbished the speculation.

The Hoops, though, will continue to scour the market and are in negotiations with 33-year-old Scotland international frontman Steven Fletcher, as CQN reported earlier today.

They have already had a £5million offer for Peterborough top scorer Ivan Toney knocked back with Brentford, who just missed on promotion to the top flight after losing 1-0 to Fulham in the play-off, are still tracking the prolific forward.

Nick Hammond, the Parkhead recruitment chief, has been leading the transfer talks with Posh supremo Barry Fry over the past fortnight.

The 24-year-old attacker, who cost a bargain £350,000 when he signed from Newcastle two seasons ago, is out of contract next summer and his club are looking to cash in – but they are not interested in doing business at the £5milllion level.

West Ham’s Swiss international Albian Ajeti is also interesting Lennon, but talks have stalled with the former £8million Basel star asking for time as he weighs up his options.

Meanwhile, French outfit Toulouse are continuing their pursuit for a loan deal for £2million Ivorian Vakoun Bayo who is also interesting St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin.
