How not to stage a flashmob protest

1295

If you’re going to stage a protest it’s better to make sure that it registers where it counts.  Turning up at a Sports Direct till with a pile of tracksuits, then only offering £1 for their purchase, might echo the transaction Mike Ashley completed for the naming rights of Ibrox, but if the tycoon even gets to hear about the so-called flashmob protest he’s likely to pity the forsaken attempt to undermine him.

Ashley has invested around a couple of million in Newco Rangers but it’s pin money for him, which he can easily afford to gamble with.  He is also not afflicted with any emotional attachment to Newco, or pretty much anything else, it seems.  In short, this is a guy ‘Rangers’ fans can’t lay a glove on.  They would be far better to figure this out and start to deal with the reality than provoke an unwelcome response.

Neither Ashley nor the Easdale brothers strike me as people who will be easily cowed or bullied into forgoing the rights they have purchased, while others, including thousands of fans, kept their hands in their pockets.  The many genuine fans who are distraught at the humiliating mess Newco has become have been led up the garden path by would-be sages.

Africa

The world is paying a little more attention than usual to the many problems in Africa at the moment but I heard one authoritative voice last week suggest that ebloa is only around the third or fourth most severe problem the continent faces.

But, things are getting better in large swathes of the continent, thanks to improving governance in some areas, better infrastructure, more widely available healthcare, and more children, especially girls, given access to education.

20 people from Celtic Foundation are in Malawi building classrooms and toilets at the moment, while CQN’ers built three school kitchens there this year (more on the soon), but sometimes these many parallel developments conflict.

One such occasion is the John Bande Foundation School in Blantyre, Malawi, which through Mary’s Meals is supported by the Noreen Davies Hikers & Bikers, a group of people from Lanarkshire and Glasgow.  The Hikers and Bikers support a feeding programme at the school, which makes it possible for kids to attempt the school, instead of working for food.  It’s a mature project but the recent building of a motorway right on the edge of the school property has made the building dangerous; learning and feeding is no longer possible.

The Noreen Davies people are raising money to erect three new buildings.  You can read more of the story here, with pictures of the school and road.  If you can give them a £1 or two, do so here.

Thought the young boy Robertson’s crossing was brutal. Had a efe moment aswell. Just shows that people see game’s differently. Some people see a manager in RD

You may have a very valid point (although I don’t share it) but too many people are using the likes of Anderson to have a go at our team and management. Provan was waxing lyrical from the very start of the match and he had done nothing at all.

It’s Robertson but you are right, the guy did nothing that Izzy doesn’t do every week and gets slaughtered on here for.

I don’t know where it came from that we needed 2 players for every position, we aint Chelsea. We already have to many forwards and to many midfielders, we don’t need more players sitting on the bench wasting a wage.

Celtic alone cannot change that aspect of Scottish society. Celtic like the support have to live with it.

Res12 is not the same blue touch paper issue as same club one which Celtic can do nothing effective to change & in any case Res12 is aimed at SFA not TRFC or RFC.

That Scottish football and Scottish society have to deal with threats explicit or implicit is a matter of shame.

  6. Mickybhoy,

Away to yer bed….Broony’s given his all for Celtic and gets what it means to wear the hoops more than others who come from a more traditional Celtic background. Just like Bertie and Danny.

  7. Sky get Naismith who was poor to partner the young lad who played well in their interview.

All focus on Robertson but Brown had a stormer.

Well 3 points but it was hard to watch at times and now on to Poland which will be a step up ok we beat them in a friendly but this is different. Much like Celtic I thought Scotland had no real cutting edge and certain players fell out of the game in the second half.H.H.

So what do we do when izzy gets injured- ( and he has had a few howlers too) we should have more competition in the squad- again the point I am making is about the very poor scouting and signings we have made recently – or am I wrong in that ?

Kojo…I was led to believe that as Broadway Joe was starring in Super Bowl III in Miami his mother was in the local pineapple saying the rosary……although he starred for “Bear” Bryant’s Crimson Tide he did have the option of the Fighting Irish……for all you ould NFL fans one of the greatest quarterbacks ever….Roger Staubach held back going to College as he was waiting for Notre Dame…they never came so he opted for Navy…..Annapolis’s gain was South Bend’s loss.

100% in agreement, our scouting forest 4 – 5 years if not more has been abysmal, but let’s herald the successes Ki, & Wanyama (Neither Hooper or Foster, was down to our scouts), so 2 positives in how many ? And we question how we are getting worse.

Celtic, sort out the failing Dept’s, Scouting, Security & PR to name 3

On a serious note, I cannot think of any others in past 5 years ?

I am led to believ Garry Parker, identified Hooper ?

Alan Thomson, who got Forster ?

So who have the scouts actually identified as a huge success ?

    Izzy ? Efe ?

    Oh forgot , VVD, oooops

We promote from the youths if Izzy gets injured, we use Mulgrew. Plenty of options.

Signing Robertson then sticking him on the bench isn’t going to help him develop as a player.

And our scouting has been up and down for a few years now, some good some bad. We’ve made a fair bit of poppy from our sales so must be doing something right.
