Improper Registration charge for corrupting 700 games still to hit

1256

At some point today those who believed Rangers have, or should have, impunity from the law of the land, as well as the rules and regulations of Scottish football, will awaken to the realisation that this is not the case.

Soon thereafter another thought will arrive: what about the impending Improper Registration of Players charge?

Over a decade of subverting every competition they have played in.  Denying clubs who register players correctly the right to compete on a level playing field.  Grabbing prize money and the abundant financial rewards of Champions League football rightly due to others – more on this later in the week.

This charge brings every domestic and European competition they played in into disrepute and is several times the magnitude than that which Rangers were punished for yesterday.  Then consider bringing the game into disrepute by chasing football bling instead of paying taxes, a separate issue from player registration.

The toxicity of these charges is enormous and if upheld will bring punishments appropriate for corrupting over 700 football games.  A whole raft of disciplinary procedures has still to take place.  If the misdemeanours of the Craig Whyte era have caused distress, those of the old board, including Ogilvie, Johnston and the Murray twins, will soon establish Rangers current owner as a mere footnote in the club’s demise.

Show of hands, who sat on the board that spent £4m on Jelavic two years after the HMRC investigation into EBTs started?

Sung by the Celtic fans (myself included) at Tannadice the day we relegated Dundee Utd in 1995, would love to hear another rendition to the Orcs on Sunday.

Jaroslaw Fojut, who will join Celtic this summer, will miss the remainder of the Polish league season after suffering a knee injury.

Fojut, currently seeing out the remaining weeks of his contract with Slask Wroclaw, was forced out of his team’s match against Lechia Gdansk last weekend. He has since undergone tests and been told that he has damaged the collateral ligament in his knee.

According to reports in Poland, after a two week lay-off, Fojut can undergo further tests and begin rehabilitation. He will be unable to play in any of Slask’s remaining games.

The defender is expected to be fit within six weeks and should be able to begin pre-season training with Celtic when he joins the club at the end of the season.

I stay in Edinburgh these days but when I’m through in Livi I go with the Livi Jock Stein but have travelled to away matches on the Tower bus and the Livi Emerald. Didn’t realise the Livi Inn had a bus. Is it the Emerald?

  12. I see this at the end of the SFA statement. If ever there was a clear indication that they will let them off on appeal:

It is important the Scottish FA, as the governing body, works in association with the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League to reinvigorate the national sport.

“Rangers have been part of the fabric of Scottish football’s history and are integral to its future prosperity.

“The Scottish FA must act with integrity and with the best interests of the game at heart. It is with this in mind that we await any appeal from the club.”

  13. Should I be concerned about this conclusion to Stewart Regan`s Report (Link at Celtic Soul Brother`s post at 17.34) :

” Rangers have been part of the fabric of Scottish football’s history and are integral to its future prosperity.

I did not know the Hoops fans sang that song at tannadice.

The first time I heard it was in 1998(?) at easter road, being sung (very loudly) by United fans, as they sent Hibs down!! They clearly learned it from the Celtic support a couple of years before….

Either way, the Utd fans were having a ball that day, at the expense of a very upset stadium full of hibees.

Just noticed that rangers fine for breaching rule 66 was a fine of £100,000 but the sanction in the protocol is £100,000 And termination of membership.

So is it chocolate box application of maximum sanction seems like it.

No need for spl additional contract investigation result,if the Sfa applied their own protocol to the letter.
