Improper Registration charge for corrupting 700 games still to hit

1256

At some point today those who believed Rangers have, or should have, impunity from the law of the land, as well as the rules and regulations of Scottish football, will awaken to the realisation that this is not the case.

Soon thereafter another thought will arrive: what about the impending Improper Registration of Players charge?

Over a decade of subverting every competition they have played in.  Denying clubs who register players correctly the right to compete on a level playing field.  Grabbing prize money and the abundant financial rewards of Champions League football rightly due to others – more on this later in the week.

This charge brings every domestic and European competition they played in into disrepute and is several times the magnitude than that which Rangers were punished for yesterday.  Then consider bringing the game into disrepute by chasing football bling instead of paying taxes, a separate issue from player registration.

The toxicity of these charges is enormous and if upheld will bring punishments appropriate for corrupting over 700 football games.  A whole raft of disciplinary procedures has still to take place.  If the misdemeanours of the Craig Whyte era have caused distress, those of the old board, including Ogilvie, Johnston and the Murray twins, will soon establish Rangers current owner as a mere footnote in the club’s demise.

Show of hands, who sat on the board that spent £4m on Jelavic two years after the HMRC investigation into EBTs started?

Sounds like Mr Regan has put forward the case for administering the rules differently for one team that is part of the ‘fabric’.

    Not very subtle.

Suspect the panel wil be hand-picked from the 100 people to come up with the ‘correct’ decision this time.

I’d be very surprised if this appeal was not successful unless UEFA show a real interest.

  4. It’s McMillans comment at the end about Neil being the most shameful thing that’s ever happened to Scottish football or words to that effect that had me gobsmacked.

Can I just thank jinkylarsson who uploaded that to soundcloud for sharing that with us all.

I can’t wait till Sunday. Can see it being messy both on and off the pitch, just hope everyone stays safe. Hail hail!

  5. Why didnt mc millan use his flute to answer the questions? I might have paid more attention too him.

My God what a bitter bigot that man is. There is no contrition, no attempt whatsoever to admit wrongdoing. He uses simple avoidance but when asked by Beattie if rangers have brought shame on Scottish football his only response is to blame an innocent man purely because he’s the manager of Celtic Football Club, Irish and Catholic.

They wonder why we want them to die? The answer is in that twisted man’s words. I’ve noticed a couple of posts claiming that McMillan is a decent enough guy and this represents a side to him that they’ve never seen. I’m sorry I can’t buy into that not having heard that interview. I always used to say that I’d prefer an Orangeman any day over a Mason. With an Orangeman at least he’ll tell you what he is, there’s no kidology. He’s a bigot but at least you know that.

McMillan reminds me of the Mason. A sneak who only reveals his true colours when backed into a corner, today his mask slipped for all to see.

  7. Jungle Jim – I am not getting at you with the following comments so please don’t take them as such.

I see a lot of posters come on and say “we should ignore them” “talk about Celtic” blah blah

Do you guys realise the times you are living in? Do you have any idea what you are witnessing?

This is the biggest story in the history of Scottish Football and it will take a brammer in the future to ever top it so in my opinion will be the biggest story ever told in our wee mocket country.

    You are living through it.

    You are watching it.

    Bloody well enjoy it.

The United fans liked it so much they started singing it 2 minutes from the end of the cup tie at Celtic Park the following season when they led 1-0. Big Pierre and Andy Thom ended that sing song though, glad they eventually got to use it at Easter Road

    SFA Sanctions

Just to be clear, in terms of Rangers bringing the game into disrepute and ‘tainting’ (if I can use that term) Scottish Football, they escaped any maximum sanction. You have to wonder what a club would need to do to achieve the maximum sanction?

The following from Stewart Regan should make us all take a step back (if I can quote the Bloo Knights):

“Rangers have been part of the fabric of Scottish football’s history and are integral to its future prosperity.”

“The Scottish FA must act with integrity and with the best interests of the game at heart. It is with this in mind that we await any appeal from the club”.

This suggests that whilst an independent tribunal may seek to apply regulations fairly, the SFA reserves the right to ignore all that fairness.

Watch out for SFA business as usual on appeal.

Should Mr Ogilvie now indicate some form of interest at all at this point……. if you hold your breath you may imitate RFC!

Rumour: ‘Duff and Phelps to be removed as administrators for Rangers. Petition at Court of Session for a one hour slot tomorrow in front of Lord Hodge. It is believed that the courts will remove Duff and Phelps and replace them with another firm. Some rumours are pointing towards BDO insovency firm. Court has appointed new firm with a view to a quicker timescale and “natural conclusion’ to the saga.’

Following these developments, UEFA asked Beşiktaş to return all 8 million euros the team had been paid by the European body for games won this season as a fine for its actions. The club administration also requested an appearance before UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body on May 1 to defend itself. If the club fails to provide an adequate defense and is judged guilty, it will have to pay 8 million euros and will be banned from playing in the UEFA leagues.
