Celtic’s leadership, fight and ability all required

275

There is a truism in football: the next game is always the big one.  It felt very true a week ago, as we prepared for a trip to Dundee – even more so late in the second half.  Now, all I can think about is Hearts tomorrow.  A win opens up our world.  For a while, at least, we go six points clear and ask questions of the pretenders.

Hearts are a difficult team to analyse.  They sit third in the table, having twice beaten the champions.  Since that second win five weeks ago, they have drawn with Kilmarnock home and away, lost at Ross County and in the Cup semi to Newco, while recording wins over Greenock Morton, St Mirren and Livingston.  In short, they usually win against teams they are better than, and Celtic.

Whatever crisis of faith I had in this Celtic team back in February has been restored.  They are not the finished article, but they are a team with leadership, fight and ability.  Gallons of which will be needed tomorrow.  You and I will need to provide enormous vocal support – and to put a lid on any impatience.

Late news on Liam Scales new four-year contract.  Does anyone else in the squad personify leadership and fight as much as he does?

A somewhat unbelievable online response to the news of Scale’s extension.

For me it’s a no brainer you sign up your current starting CB.

Strengthen in the summer and Liam becomes your back up.

It’s the CBs below Scales we should be moving out the door asap.

What? But they’ve got fancy sounding foreign names?

Agree 100%. Scales deserves this. 😳🤷🏼‍♂️😂👍

    From last thread re Frimpong

I didn’t know that. First time I’d seen him play there and thought it looked like a smart move.

Yes, I noticed when watching highlights of Bundesliga at start of season he was playing as attacking right winger, and brilliant at it. I kept track of him and he has excelled on the wing throughout the season.

Rumours persist about him have a £35m release clause in his contract, which would minimise the sell-on % we’d get, as he’s worth way more than tha! Let’s hope it’s just media speculation or they get him signed up to a new deal, seen as Alonso is staying another season and they at least double the release clause in the new deal. 😃👍

I agree . I don’t mind a bit of experimentation with away kits but prefer to stick to the traditional hoops as poss .

No matter what the design is they’ll still fly off the shelves .

No it’s not and you know it,a could of weeks to find £650-750,might have more than 1 ST in a family, always been longer, why the hurry

  11. Anyhoo , had a good start to today (unlike yesterday 🙈😊) enjoyed the golf with my grandson and tonight I’m off with my daughter (the shadow) to the Town House Hamilton for a meet n greet with Celtic legends Sutton n Hartson .

Yup. Agree. Suppose it’s why the teams all now have 3 kits, which is taking the piss.

3 points tomorrow is huge. Let’s hope we smash this manky mob! Hate them as much as their big cousins tbh. Horrible club and fans.

  13. On the Jeremy Frimpong front, great to see him doing so well in Germany. I believed then and now that had Louis van Gaal had played Frimpers against Argentina in the 2022 WC QF it would have been the Netherlands and not the Argies who went on to the Semi-Finals. Maybe not quite on the level of Willie Ormond leaving out Jimmy Johnstone in 1974, but a similar lack of vision displayed by the Dutch manager.

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on

Goldson out for the season is a blow for us…..and nothing to do with him playing 30 games for more money and contract

for next season, he’s played 29….

You’re talking keech. Every season the ST renewal deadline is in late May. It’s only during the season because we’re in the cup final.

Always moaning about anything to have a dig at the club.

Tricky one re the season ticket payment request timing.

I have no idea if it is sooner than last year but if it is then that is really not good. Especially for folks who really are struggling cash flow wise. Or does not seem necessary unless there is something we don’t know.

As for talk of 9% increase, if they is true that really does seem steep and again really disappointing.

2 big questions which I would like to see evidence before rushing to judgement either way personally.

Just because rangers do it doesn’t justify imo. Nor does just because we can. Hopefully neither are true though.

There’s actually someone in the row behind who is much worse, you’ve just been fortunate that he’s been missing when you attended 🙃

  21. Just had a wee glance at the 2 regular seats in our family and they seem to be increased by 8% to £754 which is a bit ahead of inflation. Not good in my view. Demand ahead of supply allows this unfortunately. I am sure the premium seats will be similar as demand is massive for these also. Not seen the renewal for this yet.

Timing is in line with last year for payment though. So no real complaints there.

  22. Hrvatski Jim on

My season ticket is down about 30% as I perfectly timed my birth to hit the right age just before the new season starts.

  23. Massive game tonight St Pauli at Hamburg. Could secure St P promotion and ensure Hamburg miss out again. Both likely to happen anyway but this would be incredible if it happened tonight.

  24. Well done Hvartski

It’s one of the few perks re being old.

My pal got his ticket at reduced rate last year for full season due to birthday being at right date.

  25. I’ve renewed already. As an OAP I get a reduced price so I’m lucky. These tickets are precious and in great demand currently.

The renewal deadline date is 22nd May- this early notification gives us nearly 3 weeks to get our renewal in as some people may be in hospital or on holiday.

I make no demands that we win a league or a cup before I renew. I am glad and fortunate to be able to watch the Celtic play as my father did before me. I sympathise with those who cannot afford to pay for the book but there were many years where I had to ration my Celtic fix for economic reasons. I have never felt the need to buy the newest strip for my kids and none of them ever cast this up to me.

We have to look after ourselves and our family first. Celtic comes a close second.
