Celtic’s leadership, fight and ability all required

275

There is a truism in football: the next game is always the big one.  It felt very true a week ago, as we prepared for a trip to Dundee – even more so late in the second half.  Now, all I can think about is Hearts tomorrow.  A win opens up our world.  For a while, at least, we go six points clear and ask questions of the pretenders.

Hearts are a difficult team to analyse.  They sit third in the table, having twice beaten the champions.  Since that second win five weeks ago, they have drawn with Kilmarnock home and away, lost at Ross County and in the Cup semi to Newco, while recording wins over Greenock Morton, St Mirren and Livingston.  In short, they usually win against teams they are better than, and Celtic.

Whatever crisis of faith I had in this Celtic team back in February has been restored.  They are not the finished article, but they are a team with leadership, fight and ability.  Gallons of which will be needed tomorrow.  You and I will need to provide enormous vocal support – and to put a lid on any impatience.

Late news on Liam Scales new four-year contract.  Does anyone else in the squad personify leadership and fight as much as he does?

Mon the hoops! Going to be driving up to Scotland when the game is on, but will have it on the radio.

    4-1 to us.

That wee knob Shankland will score for them, probably a penalty. Our scorers will be Kyogo, Khun, Hatate and Idah.

    Any win will do!

For those lucky enough to be going, raise the roof off for these manky diet Huns!

Just read the article referred to and it seems they’re all raging that they’re not getting freebies to watch their favourite team, as obviously the Huns need the money and they refs have been asked to buy normal tickets.

However, Sevco will have sold their end out, which is why there will be segregation issues seating the refs. 😂

  9. Ex refs ‘raging’ at Celtic and Rangers Hampden snub as SFA beaks accused of ‘absolute nonsense’ decision

Former officials are reportedly unhappy at being told they won’t get free hospitality tickets for Hampde.

Around 40 ex referees have reportedly had their hospitality tickets for the Scottish Cup Final pulled – and they’re not happy about it.

Rangers and Celtic meet at the Hampden showpiece on May 25 as Philippe Clement and Brendan Rodgers go head to head in a blockbuster finale to the Scottish football season. It could be a Treble on the cards for Gers if they overcome the champions’ lead in the Premiership while the Hoops will be hoping to win both remaining trophies and make it a double at the national stadium.

A host of former officials are typically invited to the final in recognition of their service but the Scottish Sun report that this year, that will not be the case. It’s claimed that nearly 40 hospitality briefs have been withdrawn due to concerns over “security and segregation” with those snubbed said to include former top whistlers Willie Young and Kenny Clark.

It’s reported that SFA head of refereeing Crawford Allan broke the news via an email with refs told to buy standard tickets and claim the cost back. But an unnamed official involved said: “Everyone’s raging, it’s absolute nonsense. There’s never been an issue with safety or security before, no matter who’s been in the final, so it feels like there’s more to it than the letter claims.

I anticipate a really tough one today. The huns has been team is always a different animal against us. Let’s have one in the eye for Naismith and Shankland please Celts! If we do scrape another win I think the actual huns may drop points at home to Killie tomorrow. They are a total confidence team, which explains why they can defeat Betis away and lose to Ross County in the same season. Let’s keep their confidence in the toilet troops!

PS has Mark Lawwell signed for Man United yet? And if so, will be come back for Yang? Please.

RIP Father Sharp, knew the family from the Gibby and was at school with Ian.

  18. Well last weeks long range weather forecast for Glasgow (Sunny 20c) was a bit optimistic, but that said the wet ground conditions should suit our game today. We must start with our fittest players, and if that means CalMac is on the bench then that is how it needs to be, we cannot afford to lose the midfield today. I dont buy into this cup finals mantra, no silverware on offer, but what is on offer is the opportunity to go six points clear, at least until tomorrow. And I expect us to do it as well, in front of what will be a packed Celtic Park, and an atmosphere to match. Don’t be suprised to realise that there will be some genuine huns in amongst their Embra cousins, lets shut them up anaw.

Hopefully our best performance of the season. Top of the League from here on in.
