I know what you’re thinking, let’s hope we get more exciting January signings like Pawel Brozek, Rabiu Ibrahim and Freddie Ljungberg.
It’s slightly unfair to mock our January transfer business. Kris Commons arrived two years ago and constituted a one man title challenge for a few months (and still delights). Georgios Samaras and Barry Robson arrived in 2008 and went a long way to ensuring the title came to Celtic. We went signing crazy in January (and 1st Feb) 2010 when Robbie Keane, Diomansy Kamara and soon-to-be World Cup final legend…. Edson Braafheid arrived. Robbie proved his class but it was all in vain, alas.
Most of our worries seem to be focussed on protecting those already in the squad. I’m not too concerned one way or another for the Juventus tie, which will take care of itself, but decisions made today will need to consider the Champions League qualifier challenges we will face in August. If we sell Gary Hooper today there is no guarantee we will be able to recruit his replacement until the final gasp of the August window.
So far this month we have addressed long-term strategy and short-term cover, if we do any more business I’d be happy with more of the same.
Contrary to career expectations 29-year-old Edson Braafheid is not now a delivery driver for Argos but he’s not playing a lot of football these days either.
If the server overheats later I’m on Twitter, @CQN, and I’ll do my best to figure out Facebook, CQN Magazine, too.

I dont often post these days, but i thought this was a chance to publicise the work that the football club i am involved with – Giffnock Soccer Centre – is doing with the Johari Foundation in Kenya, and some of our coaches were interviewed on Scotland Today tonight:

I believe Celtic starlet Jack Kirwan is a product of your club?
A very promising young striker!
I see Aberdeen have taken a New Zealand keeper on trial.
His name is Te Atawhai Maurice Hudson Wihongi.
Can’t see any Aberdonian forking out to get that printed on his replica goalie’s top.

How can James Forrest be in Scotland squad if he’s unfit?
=========================================
Cos when Lee Wallace withdraws – then JF – it will be Old Firm withdrawals via the MSM.
sftb
All the more reason he should be eased back into our squad. We need to be careful with Jamsie’s hamstrings!

Indeed he is. He played with our 1994 squad although he was a year younger. A very good player when he left a couple of years ago, and a very nice boy (he used to come and watch his pals play whenever he didnt have a game of his own).
Unfortunately, one of his ex team mates went onto to sign for Sevco (a big Celtic man as well). I expected him to be getting a game by now but that is always going to be difficult when you have Lee Elbows in front of you, the third best player in the world
I wonder will Sky’s catalogue of lies lead to more cancelled Sky Sports subscription?

For the 3rd window in succession QPR go for the scatter gun approach to signings, a car crash of a club run by a publicity seeking clown.

I hope their staff have taken insurance out in case of redundancy. If ever a club is going to the wall it’s QPR.

I agree were you are coming from and like yourself i wouldn’t be surprised if its another stitch up.
Surely though with everything that murray got up to, they must be wary
of a backlash from the ordinary fans that paid to see their team play on an honest playing field.
Personally i skint myself to get a parent and two kids books to watch Celtic during said period.
I will be sickened to the core if they walk off “Scot free”.wonder where that terminology came from.hh
Phil macs latest offerings. The Huns voted against themselves apparently.

Was the young man who went over to the darkside Declan Gallagher?
emus
Quite agree. I don’t expect James Forrest to appear on the pitch in WGS’s first international outing.

I still have your team of the 70s to use in the magazine but wondered if you could write a piece on Celtic in the Seventies as the first in a series of Celtic through the decades? Would be a great start to this new feature for the magazine.
Longmuir told us right away that the SFL wouldn’t be touching their ill gotten gains.
Who did he consult with to arrive at that decision… Was there a vote???
I’m thinking the woodwork will be very well nourished and voluptuous soon :o)

Willing to give it a go. Might help if you reminded me what my team o the 70s was. Probably changes week to week.

Calum Gallagher. Celtic were apparently also interested at the time but it never came off. Also, one of his brother’s pals was with Celtic at the time (1993s) and didnt get a fair crack of the whip so that may have swung his decision anyway

As unpalitable as you may think a “guilty as charged” verdict may be for scottish footbal in relationship to the EBT scandal….. I can assure you my friend that justice must prevail……
We’ll take what LNS decides is just and move on…….
To be frightened of the truth being brought about is, well just plain stupid…..
It goes against everything I was brought up to believe in…. in an honest and truthful society…..
So just ignore it cause its done and move on…… Dont rock the boat???? I dont think so sunshine……. get a grip……

Sorry for the late reply,mate-catching up.
I was stating what I think is LIKELY to happen, absolutely NOT what I think WILL happen!
I hope that clears up any confusion………
setting free the bears
Your team as follows:
I have gone with my team of the 70s.
I left out a few Lisbon Lions because they left in the early 70s or their best days were behind them. Still found room for Bobby, Lemon and Jinky because of their contribution to an EC Final, 2 EC semi finals and a quarter -final in the first 5 seasons of the 70s:-
Hunter
McGrain Mcluskey Stanton Hay
JJ Bobby M Connelly Stevie Murray
King Kenny Buzzbomb
Honourable mentions to Edvaldsonn, Deans, Glavin, Lynch and Brian McLaughlin. On another day Pat McLuskey would lose his place with Connelly falling back and one of them could get a game.
Manager – setting free the bears

Ta for that.
I will try to dream up a rationalisation for my bizarre choices.

I was disappointed with Phils blog on the gb as i thought he jumped on the bandwagon with some others.
He’s been back to what he does best lately, keeping the likes of myself and other those precious steps ahead that even the aprons can’t keep up with.hh
Glad that’s over.
We are where we are from a commercial/marketing perspective, so good on Celtic to hold on to their most valuable commodities during a silly transfer window.
If you had to ask NFL how he wanted the transfer window to go I expect he would have said exactly as it has gone, so, result.
Summer is the biggy, perfection would be to keep your best players and buy to improve the squad but we are going to come under intense pressure to sell a few ghuys from the current squad.
Wouldn’t it be great to keep our best players and improve on this seasons performance ( subject to achievements ) by buying to build on the squad?
A CEILER GONOF RUST
Did you get a list of gigs from PC67 today?
Some belters on it,will fill a few hours of my time over a few weekends.
I dunno what they are like live, but THE SHINS should be worth a look-been blathering on about them a good few years now!
BTW,my Dad was still enthusing about yon ’64 dram when I spoke to him yesterday-you fair made his day….
Sipsini,
Interestingly he appears to still have a mole in the hole ( so to speak ).

So, did hooper go back to scunthorpe then or plump for spurs?
What about vic, will he shine at wigton or the camp nou?
So much for the scottish msm, what a………………………………………….

CANAMALAR
Got a text earlier from my sis-raging.
“Where’s ma effin’ No. 10?!!!!!!!!”
Now,either she’s waiting for a bus,or she’s bemoaning our lack of a proper playmaker………
My suggestion that our new Aussie,Thomas Rogic, may be just the man did not go down well-she accused me of turning into a happyclapper (expletives deleted)
I doubt she is the only fan who’s had it with our sideways passing.
I have never been a fan of WGS..listening to his patter about Lee mcCulloch reminds me why. He is bending over the desk for SFA bigwigs in much the same way he did with Celtic heirarchy.
What a sad and transparent sop to huns who hate SFA…
FFS, Neil Canamaler at 00.30, thats about the the most laid back post I’ve seen you make. That tells me our team is intact.
Hail Hail Bruv and keep on wi the prozac:-)

Phil is a brave man the hatred and venom displayed on hun sites towards him is disgusting.
Kip for me.hail hail.
Acgr,
Thought he’d been fraped ;)))
BMCUW,
There’s a cracking team there, we’ve seen them click a couple of times, we’ve got till the summer, I hope they click, I think they can
CultsBhoy, WGS is not bending over the desk for McCulloch, it’s the other sevcoid he’s over the desk for, the younger but equally as useless Lee Wallace.
Either way, its a pathetic attempt to get the sons of william back aboard the tartan bus.
Poor form, from our ex manager, it seems he’s been got at already.
estorilbhoy, I’m shocked, I dont even know what that means!!!
Whahhhha haaaaa:-)
CANAMALAR
I agree, when they ge it right, boy,it’s done in style.
IMO,Neil has been insisting on possession-first football as the way forward in Europe, and getting the players used to it during games-schooling in public as they say in horsey-speak.
Nowt wrong wi that, but it can be turgid to watch.
I saw us play twice when I was up.
4-1 then 4-0.
4-1 last night, all a bit more like it,so hopefully the gloves are off!
But I do have high hopes for Mr Rogic……..
