work but requiring further study is the issue of mental mapping or the proliferation of
informal place-names. Protestants and Catholics in the Port were familiar with the
town’s “Fenian Alley” and “Pagan Alley” as places recognised respectively as having
more or less Catholic inhabitants. Continuing this topic the housing around St John’s
church remains known to this day as the “Vatican City”. Similarly, an area not far
from the church that was home to some Irish families from around County Tyrone
earned the sobriquet “Dungannon Court” when its formal name was simply Balfour
Street. The naming of places according to religious and cultural criteria and on the
basis of the ethnicity of those who lived there is fundamental to the notion of
identity.

Kilmarnock’s pitch is bad enough but failing to water it is ridiculous. The league should be all over clubs doing stuff like that. It’s all fair and well saying they need to take every advantage they can but bottom line is they are in the entertainment industry, but seem to have lost the memo.
Wish to god the other clubs could get together and empty those pitches for good. It’s very unfair when clubs like motherwell, Ross County, St Johnstone etc are spending good money maintaining a grass pitch at great expense on top of their training facilities whilst livi and killie don’t give a flying f$%£.
I would add failing to water the pitch likely placed players at more risk of injury, surely the health of players would be paramount at all times.
if your gonna keep the artificial pitches get refs to enforce appropriate to water the pitched appropriately
The Chelsea manager wouldn’t let go of the Spurs managers hand at the final whistle handshake, because he wouldn’t look him in the eye, cue mayhem, both sets of coaching staff and the officials all dive in to force them apart, result red card for both managers, honestly grown up men, what are they like :-)

Had the scenes at Chelsea been repeated up here, the match would immediately be dubbed The Shame Game, and a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. Keevins would be on SSB every night.
In the EPL world, it is just part of the drama and razzmatazz.
Would take Tottenham in our CL Group, we could take point, or maybe three.

I agree Steph, Health and Safety officers should be all over this.
This is a professional footballers workplace and they should be protected against workplace owners who intentionally put workers in danger of injury or worse.

Question, did you get over the sea to Skye by boat? From Glenelg possibly if it is still sailing or from Mallaig to Armadale. More likely crossed the bridge. Dont know how familiar you are with the Isle, but given the effort you made to get there, guessing you have some kind of connection. An Tearmann would prove a better guide than me, the Black Cuillin especially, from Glen Brittle. Or you can approach them from the Sligachan side, the Red side, hotel and campsite near the loch. If you haven’t already you must visit Flora’s grave up in Kilmure. From South Uist originally but via the Carolinas, Nova Scotia and London buried on Skye. Interesting cemetery too. Think Jamie Fraser might have met her in the Americas in Outlander. Nice mix of the historical and the fictional. Actually Jamie and Claire Fraser are real, living through time. The Celtic Connection of course, to be found at the Portree Hotel, where Michael Davitt addressed the Island Crofters in 1887 during his tour of Scotland. The hotel is still there, but the balcony from whence he spoke is no longer. Try if you will to find the site of the ‘Battle of the Braes’ in 1882, not easy, but if you do you will find the Glasgow connection. And not in a good way. Enjoy your visit.
