    Week 3 saw a convincing 1 point win by Anniversary bhoy Jobo Baldie with 9 points, just ahead of Travel Bhoy and Fess19 on 8.

     

     

    3 posters shared bottom spot with 1 point, Scaniel, Wee BGFC and Friesdorfer but the computer is a donkey fan and awarded the wooden spoon to Scaniel.

     

     

    Overall we have a clear leader:-

     

     

    Big Archie – 31 points

     

    Ayrshire Tim- 27.5

     

    Greenpinata- 26

     

     

     

    Wee BGFC is showing remarkable consistency at the bottom with 6 points , holding off strong challenges from McCaff, Park Road 67 and James Cant

    Good to see Carl back in the team, and even better scoring one of our goals. Might be in the minority, but signing (St) Moritz Jenz gives us the option, of , sometimes, playing with a back three with Cameron on the right and Carl on the left. Also gives us, if we need it, and we will in the CL, the option of playing Stephen Walsh as a defensive midfielder, in front of the back three. He is fit, strong tackler, pretty mobile, pretty good in the air, pretty good passing forward, and, and he has shown this, can pose a threat in the opponents box at set pieces or overall forward moves. Counting Joe, that is five players, which leaves us six to provide an overall attacking threat, flexibility on the wide, and potential goals from a handful of players. Might mean CalMac is not in that team, but we are not talking every game, we are talking away games in Europe here. No point having a squad of players if that does not give us options, possibilities, choices, decisions to make. Decisions for Ange to make.

    I’ll be astonished if any of that happens. It’s contrary to what Ange says every single week. Even after today’s game he said something along the lines of we could go to places like this and just pick up a win but we want much more than that.

     

    So in essence, no three at back , no holding midfielder and no dropping our skipper. It’s taken us all a bit of time to accept we won’t be getting a giant centre half and defensive midfielders.

     

    Yes , away games in the champions league will be a worry but they always have been .

    A personal highlight for me today was when we scored to go 3-0 up and the spontaneous signing of Bella Ciao echoed around.

     

     

    Killie pies were cold and limited water available but that apart a fantastic day.

    I was lucky enough to be in a dressing room listening to jinky talk about dribbling around milk bottles, and hitting a ball onto the school roof as it came down at different angles he explained how he honed his skills at controlling the ball, I have played in muddy pitches, sloping pitches, long grass pitches and they were murder but heaven to those without skills, as the rest of Europe raced by Scottish football decades ago

     

     

    Celtic took advantage yesterday of a surface which is not as good as the bowling green grass cut level pitch we all prefer, however as we say it does favour a team with skills in touch movement passing……………………….for those who have been in the coaching game a long time the new generation of astroturf is a godsend for coaching, coaching on barrowfields ash pitch deary me
