Think I’ll let the second half lads me by – looks like a 0-0. We will of course get better but that’s as bad as it gets.

At a walking pace need to hurry things up, only really Chaz and Kris at it at the moment
Stokes is looking for the ball to much, needs to stay in the box

Some tidy football in the first half but lacking a wee bit of pace and urgency. Not surprising for the middle of July. Would like to see Griffiths through the middle for a spell and maybe 20 – 30 minutes for Pukki to see whether he can bring his pre-season form to a competitive game.

Stokes is not mobile enough and the midfield are not sharp enough.
Basis of RD and JCs HT talk.
Put sharp hungry guy up front and bollock the midfielders.

RD did say we need wingers. Tonight shows how much we need them.

A turgid first half.
Celtic’s midfield of Mulgrew and Johansen playing very well – the standouts, with Johansen in particular playing some incisive passes.
At the back, Van Dijk is strolling through the game, despite Efe looking a bit dodgy at times.
Where we are falling down is in attack – Griffiths has been terrible, Stokes dire, while Commons looks frustrated.

HT KR Reykjavik 0-0 Celtic
Nothing wrong with the first half performance for the first game of the season. Tempo was decent and the Bhoys dominated possession from start to finish. We have struggled to create any chances though which we will need to rectify 2nd half.
Expect KR to tire in second half as they have had to chase the game for long periods.
A couple of the bhoys looking rusty. Efe must have been on a beach all summer. Young McGregor seems a bit unsure of his position. Stokes a bit of a passenger.
Overall a good workout. This team should not present any problems to us over 2 legs.

At least Fraser Forster is still in his purple patch.
Tidy passing and a few attempts at creative passing but mostly powder puff.
We look lop sided up front with 3 number 10s (McGregor, Stokes and Commons) trying to be creative with Griffiths playing as a right winger. Might take a pretty goal to win this but we need more power and punch too.
Far too early in the season to be writing anyone off.
They aren’t being written off. Don’t we have a right to expect better against what basically is a pub team? Celtic haven’t imposed themselves at all in this game and that is Celtic’s fault, nothing to do with the opposition.

Will be interesting to see the results of RD’s half-time talk. If he can turn a game like NL did in many second halves, he’ll be a Celtic hero.
No sign of floodlights anywhere
