CELTIC stars Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate were not called into action in Japan’s 2-0 win in the World Cup warm-up against USA in Dusseldorf this afternoon.
The Hoops striker sat out the 90 minutes on the substitutes’ bench while the midfielder didn’t even make the stand-by squad.
Daizen Maeda started the match in a wide left position, but was kept in at the interval with Shoto Machino taking his place.
THREE CHEERS…Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi are all involved with the Japan international team in Germany.
It’s the second successive game the pacy frontman has been subbed immediately after the first-half. Ange Postecoglou put on Filipe Jota for the second period in the 2-0 loss against St Mirren in Paisley on Sunday.
Both Kyogo and Hatate would have expected some game time, but they may be given their opportunity when Japan play Ecuador at the same stadium in Germany on Tuesday afternoon.
The USA, who were missing the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers in the middle of their rearguard, were always second best on this occasion and Dalchi Kamada hit the breakthrough goal in the 24th minute.
Kaoru Mitoma made certain with the second two minutes from time.
