  1. St Stivs, Tallybhoy

There is a and has been for years a Celtic store in Dublin.

Balde looking good so far, Mouyokolo hasn’t put a foot wrong so far…maybe we don’t need to replace Wilson. Irvine has been excellent. One of my least favoured Celtic player, Zaluska, has even put in a few decent saves too.

    Mon The Hoops!

    Hail Hail

  2. Mike in Toronto on

really like the looks of mouyokolo … I liked KW, but, too often, he relied upon athleticism to make a last ditch tackle.. but SM seems so far to be a more composed positional player … so far, so good.

Young Balde looks a bit of a project, there is some huge potential there (NFL seems to have an eye for young players like that).. the best thing that can happen to a player at a new club (particularly, a young player) is to get an early goal … hopefully, his goal today gives him the confidence to go on and blossom this year.

passing is a bit better today… but still (i) too many passes to stationary players with their backs to the goal, and (ii) how many times today have players broken down the right wing, and into space, but the midfielders either dont see them, or look them off, stop, and and turn back and play a pass backwards or sideways…. you really notice it on a big, expansive pitch like today (unlike some of the smaller away pitches we play at in the SPL)

overall a decent first half …. that liverpool team contains some really good players…so happy to be in with a lead at half time.

  3. Back in……

Well maybe we should open up a Liverpool shop in Dublin. Makes sense tae me ;-)

Naw I am afraid the continued exorcism of Irish republicanism by Dermot to suck up to the English will have Its casualties ultimately.

Anyone unconcerned by it is only exhibiting naievity

Was impressed with young J Irvine in one of the pre season games and I must say I am even more impressed with his first half showing today ,well done son .

Also well done to big Balde well taken goal ,hope it gets the big man up and running .

We started to lose confidence in keeping the ball after we scored but got back into the game .

Nice to see both sets of supporters enjoying a game of football side by side .

    C,mon you bhoys in green

Great posts, agree with your sentiments. As an Irish Celt, it can be very frustrating at the condescending and ignorant in some cases, attitude to Celtic here. It’s always been the case and is of course a product of the premier league saturation/ inflated transfer fees. The view among my friends for example, would be that Celtic would be a Wigan type team in a mickey mouse league Despite anything we might do in Europe.

The sooner the premier league goes bust the better in my opinion.

  14. Professor Green on

Considering this team includes only 3 players which Neil considers his first choice 11, that was an excellent first half of football against possibly Liverpools first 11.

The players look sharp and match fit. Balde looks a real handful and is rag dolling there central defence when the ball is accurately passed to him. He also showed he has a finish in him.

Mouyokolo also looks like he could step into Wilson’s shoes.

Having said all that Zaluska has had a couple of very good saves.

Wonderful atmosphere in the stadium. The power of the sky backed premiership is there for all to see.

  17. No chance the EPL will go bust, it’s a fantasy some on here have had for 10 plus year.

Always with the bubble will burst, all the time more money gets thrown at them.

    It ain’t going to happen.

  18. I thought the grumbles about balde in the last few weeks were only from the glass half empty crew?

We’re people ACTUALY doubting the lads potential based on a couple of meaningless pre season games ???

We beat a few premiership clubs to this bhoy s signature !

English team with most European Cup wins 0

Scottish team with most European Cup wins 1

Not surprisingly it’s the form team IE the current CL participants that are in the lead even though they have rested 7/8 players owing to have won 3 matches in the tournament already this season.

Good showing from the new guys and good to see Dylan and Tony W getting a run out.

BTW we don’t have a reserve team – these are just guys that can’t get off the bench.

Poor show BT. Owen, McManamin & James. No Celts.

    Where is Craig Burley, then?

OK I’ve taken that too far!

  23. First of all i think our bhoys are playing very good football, Balde a huge suprise, good for him. Moulokolo looking great, reads the game like a CB should.

Anybody else think young Dylan is getting his attacking quallities coached out of him.

Who said the Irish support Celtic FFS it’s a sea of red, must be the Derry bhoys who are the true tims.

    A few other thoughts..

LZ looking good today … I was pleased when we signed him, but he seemed to lose a bit of confidence last season…. but looking really good today …. like the goalkeeper we signed.

As for the prominence of Liverpool fans today…. it is clearly noticeable … at least on the TV… disappointed, but not surprised by that …. Obviously, TV plays a huge part in spreading the EPL brand and mythology to young Irish kids…. but I have a question for some of the Irish lads on here…. based on a few (admittedly limited) experiences I have had with some Irish pals and their friends…. a lot of them (rightly or wrongly) seem to link Celtic with ‘old ireland’, and want to move on from that … and see EPL teams as being more modern, European, whereas Celtic is viewed as part of the ‘old way’….

I’ve tried to ask them about this, but usually the issue comes up in the pub…. so dont always get a whole lot of sense from them… but I would be interested in thoughts on that.

  25. Just popped in at half time. See many bothered by big Liverpool support. Red shows up better on telly if there is a section containing 50/50 supporters the red colour dominates. More important its really heartening to see Mouyokolo, Irvine & Balde playing so well. Back to the game.

  26. My own tuppence worth as an IrishTic fan.

The only times I ever got to see the bhoys was some European highlights or if we were in the cup final. 5 minutes at half time and 10 minutes at full time

I could see Man U or Liverpool twice a week. MOTD and the Big Match.

Be thankful we have as many Irish fans as we have
