CELTIC midfielder Aaron Mooy will be performing among football’s elite in the World Cup Finals in Qatar this month.

The anchorman, 32, who joined the Hoops as a free agent in the summer on a two-year deal, has been given the nod by international head coach Graham Arnold in his 26-man squad for the soccer showpiece which will run from November 20 to December 18.

However, there is bad news for former Hoops favourite Tom Rogic, now with West Brom, who has been overlooked from the player pool which was announced at 5am UK time today.

The 29-year-old playmaker’s hopes of making the pool of players for the games against France (Nov 22), Tunisia (26) and Denmark (30) were ended with the manager’s final decision.

Ex-Celtic midfield prospect Jackson Irvine, 29, now at German outfit St Pauli, made the cut and there are also places for Edinburgh quartet Martin Boyle, the Hibs winger who is currently injured, and Hearts’ Nathaniel Atkinson, Kye Rowles and Cammy Devlin.

Former Easter Road and Ibrox forward Jason Cummings, now at Rogic’s ex-club Central Coast Mariners, is also heading for the football extravaganza.

Dundee United defender Aziz Behich and St Mirren midfielder Keanu Baccus got the nod, too.
