Morgan and Shved chance disappears if they remain spectators

99

The importance of Ryan Christie (24) to Celtic is difficult to overstate.  He arrived on the scene at the League Cup semi-final at Murrayfield in October last year and reinvigorated a Celtic team that had stuttered their way through the early months of the season.

Christie joined Celtic in the summer 2015 transfer window but was immediately sent back to Inverness on a season-long loan.  When that arrangement ended, he spent 18 months of the next two years on load at Aberdeen.  His first three years as a Celtic player produced one 90-minute appearance and four where he appeared for part of the game.

Had he not gone on loan to Inverness and Aberdeen the subsequent blossoming of his talent would be very unlikely.

Ryan will be an inspiration to players like Lewis Morgan (23) and Marian Shved (22), who both hope to emulate his patient rise to first team regular, but at their age, Ryan was sharpening his skills with 90 minutes of competitive action every week.  Apart from his brief spells on the sideline at Celtic, he has been a first-team regular for six years.

Mikey Johnston was ahead of both before injury and his return, together with the reduced load of European games ahead, makes it less likely Morgan (in particular) or Shved will see more game time.  It both get a move in January that allows the regular football, the chances are no better than 50/50 one will make it at Celtic, but that chance disappears if they remain spectators.

  1. I’m guessing Lenny would love to play against ANY EPL team in the last 32. I would too. We would be 50/50 to go through.

    Take it.

  2. I’d disagree on that one Pete. I absolutely hate The Battle of Britain headlines. I want to avoid EPL teams like ye plague.

  3. CorkCelt,

What will be will be. I actually think Celtic and the newco will meet in the last 16 of the Europa.

Crazy I know but Hey oh. Would you prefer an EPL team then?☺

  4. Terrific comment on the absence of integrity in Scottish football and why not pursuing Res 12 to a proper conclusion is unacceptable.

Allowing what took place from 2000 to 2012 to go uncorrected, with visible signs of the consequences reappearing, is an act of disrespect to the integrity of the Celtic support that will not allow moving on no matter the commercial and sporting sucess arguments for doing so.

Fine effort from Mark Murphy there, the kind of which you will not find in the main stream media in Scotland, including BBC Scotland. If Saracens have not paid NI and PAYE on its little scam then each player can expect a brown envelope, not the usual kind to be found in Rugby, the one with the cash inside, but rather one with HM Revenue and Customs on the outside. Courtesy of HMRC’s victory over Deutsche Bank and UBS in the Supreme Court three years ago.

It was , indeed, a fine article.

I have often thought ( but with no idea whether feasible/practical/how it could be done) that if the Res 12 Fab Four asked for concerned ST holders to append their names to a kind of Petition saying something along the lines of : The undesigned ST Holders will not be renewing if Celtic do not do something more positive/honest re Res 12.

  7. Just watched 2 traffic wardens issue about 30 tickets to cars parked in the car park at the back of Ashton Lane

Punters obviously think because it’s after 8 on a cold Monday night that it’s free

  8. Ha ha Corkcelt the RTÉ pundits think it’s some of the best football Ireland have played, although to be fair the bar is very low!

Sneaky last minute goal will do us

    COYBIG!

  9. Re Res 12 disgraceful from the SFA and our board but the EBTs and the Supreme Court decision should be highlighted and pursued by both the club and the authorities sadly none of this will happen. Both of them want all of this to go away and sadly this will happen. The MSM are getting away with the liquidation lie because both the board and authorities allow them.

I was involved in a good debate about the charitable origins of the club and how Brother Walfrid would vie Celtic today. While undoubtedly it’s difficult to compare today with the business model from 1887/88 one thing struck me. The Kano Foundation taking 10k kids to the games at CP..the Celtic Foundation raising between £2-3m and the GB raising £140k for Palestine and the Food Bank drives sleep outs Mays Meals An Gorta Mor etc etc . What struck me was these are supporters initiatives…we are a support like no other and that is carrying on the ethos of Brother Walfrid not the board us the supporters well done to each n every one of us.

Jeez, the Ireland game is a hard watch.

Finland have a lad named O’Shaughnessy on their bench tonight. Tempted to switch to a Helsinki stream just to hear how Finnish commentators pronounce it.

  12. It looks like a case of “Paradise Lost” for Messrs. Morgan and/or Shved, mores the pity,as I believe you cant have too many flair players to choose from, the type of player who epitomises “The Celtic Way”

The Tullys,Fernies, Jinkys,Jamesie and Christie to name but a few who have entertained us in Paradise.

Here`s a little known fact: “Paradise”is actually a Persian word (pairi-daeza, “Garden of Delights”) that came into Judaism from the older Zoroastrian religion of Babylon.

Before the Babylonian captivity, the ancient Hebrews, believed the dead, good and bad alike, all simply went to Sheol, the gloomy underworld of the grave. Judaism acquired several other new religious ideas from Zoroastrianism as well: Heaven and Hell, the idea that the world would come to an end,an expanded angelology and demonology, and more.

  13. Thought Ireland were unlucky – showed plenty of effort – just lacked in the final third and didn’t get that bit of luck.

  14. As you say Corkcelt great at the end. But what is the story with these refs? Books the Danish goalkeeper for time wasting during added time but then does not add a single second as a consequence, clown!

Let see the justification for opposing Res12 2019 and leaving matters Res12 2013 with the SFA provided at the AGM by Celtic. If not credible its a suggestion that might bring matters to a close now that so much of the facts are there for folk to make an informed judgement on.

  18. Looking forward to the Cup Final against the newco.

I hope that Hatem makes the game as he is a Monumental signing for Celtic – whoever scouted the fella very well done. WOW.

And theres also young Jeremie coming along very nicely. Magical.

Mika was mega for Celtic, I feel we have done very well in replacing him.

Read it a few times…totally agree with you. Our board should have been putting the pressure on from day 1 and ramping it up after each decision that went against the old club but sadly it never happened and we’re further from transparency and governance than we ever were.

Need to meet up again the next time I’m over

  20. Anyone got info on using Stubhub for tickets for games? I’ve got some relatives from New York coming over for new year. If they can’t go, do season ticket holders use them to sell?

  21. One day at a time sweet Jesus.

Thats all I’m asking of you.

Delaneys D husnae posted for a little while. I hope he is skiing in Nebraska, or getting his man boobs out in South Africa.

    You might miss it.

Neil was WELCOMED as the new Celtic manager by the newco support no less.

    Magical Celtic.

  23. Celtic please listen on

Think there will be a bit of a reality check for the hardly anyone knows or cares about Resolution 12 amongst the Celtic supporters crowd, once season ticket holders get involved. A poster earlier claimed the parking issue was the biggest on the horizon in his or her opinion ? Nah the fight for the soul of the club over governance or the lack of will, by the spivs will be a tsunami in comparison. Hun lovin Criminals 🙉🙈🙊

  24. Celtic please listen on

Then again it might be a ripple in a paddling pool.

    Doubt it !!
