Mulgrew’s magnificent delivery

1279

I watched Scotland play a more accomplished Wales last night.  No one in blue played particularly well but when Charlie Mulgrew prepared to take a corner from the right in first half stoppage time we knew Wales were in danger.

The pace, low trajectory and movement Charlie gets on the ball negates the natural advantage the defending team has.  The goal had little to do with the young lad who got on the end of the cross, just as Celtic’s remarkable success from corners has little to do with their ability to attack the ball.

The Wee Oscar 4 Life team have asked me to pass on this message:

Wee Oscar 4 Life are delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a very special bottle of 8 year old Bowmore, which has come straight from the cask. The Whisky is 59.4%, unlike a normal malt whisky which is cut to 40% proof.

The whisky was distilled on 13 March 2001, and bottled on 26 June 2009.  It has been donated by a very kind CQNer. However, not content with already donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask to raise funds for Wee Oscar , we now have his prized possession:

Bottle no 1 of 251.  A very special prize in aid of a very special wee bhoy.

Not thought about that, I think the intention is to pool the money together and present it to CFC in Kano’s name, at least that’s what I think Kitalba’s intention is.

There are a few of us doing this and we’ll have to discuss the best options, my original intention was to put aside £1 per day for 125 days and I wasn’t really looking for sponsorship on top of that but certainly open to ideas, thanks for the thought.

Need my sleep so talk later amigos.

  8. Truly interested in the debate regarding Scottish independence.

Not being a Scot i am some what perplexed that a country that willingly bought into and participated in the subjugation of and profited from the exploitation of other nations and even now still revels in its role in Britain’s imperial past now seeks its own independence because it feels aggrieved that it resources are being misappropriated by it erstwhile imperial partner in crime! Yet astonishingly bombastic imperialistic pride still resound in the speeches from the head of the SNP – Blood of our Blood, bone of our Bone!!!

I’m on my side. I dislike attempts to define me. I have had enough of Scots and Brits and Irish telling me I must be Scots and I cannot be Irish or vice versa. I want to belong to a nation confident of itself so that it does not need to examine its belly button every few seconds to see if it is Aryan enough to qualify.

On the Independence debate, like most Scots, I am not currently intending to vote for a separate or “Independent” Scotland, whether or not it includes the islands or is mainland only. I don’t want to exchange complaints about London rule to complaining about Embra rule.

But, if a surprise comes, and my fellow Scots vote for Independence, I hope I can dry my eyes and manage to continue living here. If I was a betting man I’d lay you 4 to 1 against a Yes Vote majority.

Does anyone know what the current odds are? Mind you if they are long I am sure we can blame it on those damn English bookies and West Brits like Paddy Power.

I might be persuaded to vote yes if we can keep The Singing Detective stranded across the border at Amplefunds College scrummaging in a manly way with his BNP buddies.

  12. Watching the marvellous Danny Boyle movie Slumdog millionaire ! Thot came to my head didn’t the deid club trial two Indian lads and sent them packing after 5 or 6 days ! After watching today’s servco shect they couldve been a bit hastey in getting rid ! They really are RANK !!! servco that is !

  13. A wee question about the indy ref

Pardon my ignorance….. borne our of cba

  14. theweegreenman

    Oglach,

Apologies I didn’t want to oppress anyone. Would it be ok with you if we wanted to seek independence.

Not my decision, I simply posed a question.

  15. Toffetim

Sevco did bring them over them release without contract offers

When asked if they were happy to hear that sevco got dumped out of all three cups and lost £7m by year end….. one of the Indian lads said… what goes around comes around. .. its just korma ;)

  16. Gordon64

    Independence

What would James Connolly vote ?

Change the Dublin castle for Edinburgh and the saltire for the green flag his words, I believe, would be very similar to what he said of Irish independence – he was correct.

If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain. England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs
