New leaders required

134

Hearts won the opening game of the league campaign against Celtic in controversial circumstances when the teams met at Tynecastle on July 31. Despite bossing the Edinburgh club in the league and League Cup at Celtic Park, Celtic won each game by a solitary goal, with Hearts finishing the stronger on both occasions.  Even when we played well, created a hatful of chances and had Kyogo leading the line, we didn’t manage to decisively put Hearts away.

Of our likely starters tonight, only Greg Taylor, Nir Bitton, Carl Starfelt and (perhaps) James Forrest will have played before at Tynecastle, with its unique brand of hostility.  It is doubtful Celtic have visited with fewer players of prior knowledge of the ground since 1945.  And Carl’s recollections of the night will be far from affirmative.

We have watched this Celtic team grow since that night in July. Players have arrived, performances and results have improved.  Without their captain and many experienced heads, new men need to become the leaders.  This is a game for Carl in particular to show how far he has come since arriving in Scotland.

  2. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

100% effort, in their faces and in the officials faces.( i expect Captain Joe Hart to oblige)

Play smart, be tough but be clever.

I trust this is what Ange will instruct his players.

First name on the teamsheet after Joe Hart. Anthony Ralston.

  3. Massive excitement from yours truly about seeing Reo Hatate play again tonight.

I predict again that the young fella will be head and shoulders the best player on the pitch tonight and alongside Matt O’Riley, I think Turnbull and Rogic may just have a battle to get back into the team again.

    HH fellas.

  4. Gene – Well played good sir, well played.

MELBOURNE MICK – That works! Animals did not want to go outside this morning.

Good afternoon all from Shawlands. 3 points, no more injuries would be nice. Doubt the huns without bus fare from Livingston will lay a glove on their idols.

  7. Despite our injuries, or perhaps because of them, tonight could give us a useful insight into the coming months.

To be honest, no result would surprise me. The recent talk of the Wim season has me up for this one, though.

  9. i wonder if our midfield or tucked in FBs will be allowed to just chip in a cross from a bit deeper than the wingers or FBs overlapping tonight.

it is clear that they are coached not to do that and when the opposition are organised in defence, i can see why (comes straight back or possession lost)

I do think that with Giakomakis playing, there may be occasions where there is a bit of chaos in their box we can exploit with this kind of ball

  10. Hearts pushed up against Sevco, if they do the same we have pace up front, a ball over the top could be used and catch them out and as an alternative to building through the midfield all the time.

  11. Looking forward to the challenge tonight these are the games that get the Celtic spirit soaring in you

Not sure how we are going to approach this one both in personnel or tactics but believe if we match them in commitment our class will see us through

    3~1 to the Celtic

    IN ANGE WE TRUST CFC

  12. P67 correctly points out we beat hearts by one goal in our last two games against them, the inference being to expect a close game tonight.

In truth though there’s any number of teams we’ve beaten by one goal this season. Hearts may have finished stronger in our games but the game should have been put to bed much earlier.

We need to find our ruthless edge. It’s the business end of the season now.

I wish that I shared your optimism regarding Starfelt.

Will also be surprised if any of the other 3 start.

And I see Don Robertson got a home game tonight – red card Livingston

  16. TB,

If any posts contravene the few rules of the blog they will be deleted. Paul 67 will be deluged with E Mails pointing out the offending posts.

Has it occurred to you that maybe, just maybe the eccentric posts may be a release valve.

As we all know; Mental health issues are prominent in our midsts during this pandemic. And we are a compassionate, thoughtful and tolerant blog.

Of course the ultimate sanction is in your hands, just scroll down.

Anyway back to the game tonight. I am sooooooo looking forward to it as I know we will be up for the challenge.

    HH to you.

Now don’t be thinkin the racist scum that follow the stinted britnat can’t be answered, the unionist vermin are NOT anything to do with the left, like the Nazis before the galloways strasserist approach, pandering to racist is an example of how these brexit fascists work now.Tam (jhb) is barred from nigh on every radio station as no one takes his lecturing seriously

As an example did you see how the racist vermin reacted when asked to criticise their fellow racists when they were trying to impede rescue services STOPPING refugees.

A lot more could be said and will face to face when that pint happens.yup I don’t agree with some Labour policies but fascism which the krankcelts pretend to follow is a ridicule and should be met head on by every celtic fan.

Refugees are welcome, racism has no place at Celtic,

I know you adhere to that

  19. Tom McLaughlin on

    GREENPINATA

It’s not about not wanting posters posting stuff I don’t agree with. It’s not as simple as “just scroll by”. These posters come on regularly and mock good Celtic supporters for paying money to go to games. Not just once. They usually repeat the same criticism in about 10 or 12 further posts within a couple of hours.

Many times I have logged on in the morning and proceeded to read the previous day’s offerings. Invariably I end up scrolling past 3 or 4 out of every 5 comments because they’re all saying the same thing in slightly different ways.

After a while that just wears me down and I give up and log off. There’s a limit to the number of times one can accept being called a cnut because one is a season ticket holder – by a guy who purports to be a Celtic supporter.

We also get up to 10 posts in succession with links to covid conspiracy and anti-vaxx messages. Either that or it’s a succession of posts praising George Galloway, Buffallo Bill or Humpty Dumpty.

Again, scrolling past dozens of posts at a time takes its toll.

Nothing will convince me other than that the objective is to disrupt the blog.

    They are succeeding.

  20. Time for experienced heads tonight:

    Joe, Josep, CCV, Carl, Greg,

    Reo, Nir, Joe,

    Jamesy, GG, Jota

    Por cierto.

  21. Folk who come on here and try to disrupt the blog are not being negative, they are offensively impolite and degrade the club and its supporters at every turn. That is not the kind of folk who should be able to post freely on here, never in a million years. Freedom of expression? That’s to express sound opinions and facts, not the “Trump-like ” philosophies that they espouse, por cierto.
